GIGABYTE Z68 series motherboards provide all the advanced overclocking features users have come to know and love about the GIGABYTE P67 series motherboards including increasing processor core ratios, increasing DDR3 memory ratios and increasing power and current limits. In addition, GIGABYTE Z68 motherboards also allow users to increase the graphics core clock speed, for even greater graphics performance.

  • newegg GIGABYTE Touch BIOS Navigating through the BIOS to change system settings can be a daunting task for users not familiar with control “F” functions and mouse-less navigation. While some EFI BIOS try to address this with a mouse friendly environment, many implementations still lack certain ease-of-use necessary for most people. With GIGABYTE Touch BIOS, GIGABYTE engineers have completely re-imagined how users can interact with their BIOS, allowing for a more intuitive user experience. In fact, with a touch screen monitor, GIGABYTE Touch BIOS is as easy to use as most apps on your iPhone.
  • newegg Supports Intel Smart Response Technology GIGABYTE Z68 series motherboards are equipped with the much anticipated Intel Smart Response Technology, allowing users to experience system performance similar to SSD only systems. Intel Smart Response technology works by using intelligent block-based caching of frequently used applications to improve system performance and responsiveness. In fact, GIGABYTE Z68 motherboards with Intel Smart Response Technology are able to outperform hybrid drive systems by more than 2X (PC Mark Vantage HDD test) and HDD-only systems by as much as 4X (PC Mark Vantage HDD test) and deliver a 60% performance improvement over HDD-only systems in PC Mark Vantage Suite.
  • newegg GIGABYTE EZ Smart Response The GIGABYTE EZ Smart Response utility is a simple application that allows users to quickly and easily configure their system for Intel Smart Response Technology. In the past, enabling Intel Smart Response meant users needed to enter the BIOS in order to configure their system for RAID mode, which then required a complete reinstall of the operating system. Once that processes was complete, users then needed to install the Intel Rapid Storage Utility as well as configure Intel's Smart Response Technology. GIGABYTE EZ Smart Response does all of this automatically, without users having to perform a complicated install process. This allows them to quickly and effortlessly enjoy a significant boost in system performance.
  • newegg New 100% Hardware VRD 12 Compliant CPU Power Design GIGABYTE 6 series motherboards incorporate an Intel approved Intersil PWM controller that is VRD 12 (Voltage Regulator Down) compliant. This means that it offers new features that include SerialVID (SVID) which transfers power management information between the processor and voltage regulator controller, allowing more robust and efficient signaling control between the CPU and PWM controller – hence, delivering a more energy efficient platform.
  • newegg 108dB Signal-to-Noise ratio playback All of GIGABYTE's 2011 motherboards feature higher capability audio solution with 108dB Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) playback quality to deliver high-performance, multi-channel HD audio. SNR is a comparison of the amount of signal to the amount of noise such as hiss present in the signal (expressed in Decibels). A higher SNR equals a better audio experience.
  • newegg SATA III and 3x USB Power Boost GIGABYTE motherboards are High-Speed SATA Revision 3.0 compatible, delivering superfast 6Gbps link speeds for twice the data transfer rates of SATA Revision 2.0 (3 Gbps). Capable of regulating output over full voltage range and featuring 3x USB power boost, this motherboard also delivers greater compatibility and extra power for USB devices.

4 out of 5 eggsOkay board

Pros: Works okay.

Cons: On/Off utility on driver CD caused BSOD. Took me a while to figure that out. Would not work with 16 GB RAM, although it is supposed to. Z68 chipset useless.

Other Thoughts: After installing this board, you have install the drivers on the CD. This CD has a bunch of garbage and also the lethal On/Off utility. Be careful what you choose to install from this CD.

I have tried two ways: (1) using an SSD as a cache drive, thus exploiting the capabilities of the Z68; and (2) install the OS directly on the SSD, along with MS Office, etc. The 2nd option works best. Thus, the Z68 technology is worthless to me.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother Gigabyte Mobo burned out.

Pros: Cheap, decent looking.

Cons: Very cramped (Micro-ATX) and flimsy board.

I bought this on 7/27/11. I install a new EVGA GTX 570 on yesterday and the mobo wouldn't boot on. Take out the GTX 570 and put in my old 9800GTX+ and it wouldn't boot on. The board is properly grounded and secured and the PSU was unplugged.

Pretty bizarre. Then I thought back to how my last AMD Gigabyte mobo crapped the bed in 2008 and it all came back to me.

I'm now going to have to RMA this board and hope I can deal with out being with one for 2+ weeks.

Thanks a bunch Gigabyte, keep pumping out trash motherboards. This is my last one.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: Board does what its supposed to

Cons: Board came in with a broken PCB line so i had to RMA it to Gigabyte witch took over a month. Also the Overclocking feature that comes with it conflicts with Battlefield Bad Company 2 and causes BSOD's.

Other Thoughts: Should have saved a couple dollars and bought the P67

5 out of 5 eggsGood for most users

Pros: It's a quality Gigabyte motherboard at a low price. If you're looking for a mobo packed full of top quality features this isn't it, but if you can survive without 3 video card slots and half a dozen USB 3.0 ports, this is a great board.

Cons: This board is less than full size, which means the RAM slots are closer to the motherboard than you might think. With a large CPU cooler, I would not be able to use the 4th RAM slot with a stick of RAM that has a tall heatsink on it. Very minor gripe since I don't use all four slots anyway.

Other Thoughts: Legacy ports? I guess this board is great for you if you need an overclocked i5 2500k and have a printer from 1994.

5 out of 5 eggsAT THE BOTTOM

Pros: On shell shocker for $80.00 and free ship last week sold out fast.On the board it say's cross fire but only has a 4 pin 12v.On the box it say's unlock performance for k series.Z68 for that price i just did a 860k last year.. all the other parts were on sale so why not do a sandy THANK YOU NEWEGG YOU GUY'S ROCK GREAT SHIPPING ON ALL MY PART'S.

Cons: I can't see putting a 26 or 25 k in this board then o.c. the h--- out of it and then put in 2 high end V.C. in here .With a 4 pin NO way would this board last long it has to go out.. to much voltage.I have several older pc's with very high end m.b's know what there worth nothing too old for any value.Late 2012 every-thing will change again for WINDOWS 8.

Other Thoughts: I went with the 2500 it was on sale i have a 4890 and 2 4850's for my cross fire.I went with the turbo put it at 3.8 and 2133 ram...M.B.. RAM .CPU .GOOD COOLER $350.00 AND IT'S A SANDY BRIDGE.. A LITTLE MORE THAN A 2600K ONLY..

3 out of 5 eggsBe careful

Pros: Ultra Durable design. USB 3.0 ports and XHD for more flexibility in setting up RAID arrays.

Despite some recent examples of poor judgement, I am a big fan of Gigabyte products.

Cons: Disclaimer on box:

This model uses an Intel Z68 Chipset, however, it DOES NOT support the Intel HD Graphics function built into the Intel Core processors. A discrete VGA card is required for graphics output.

Other Thoughts: I think most customers plan on using a discrete card anyway so the lack of Intel HD graphics support will not affect them. I still have to subtract eggs for a motherboard that does not take advantage of all the CPU's capabilities. The Intel HD graphics would have been a nice opportunity for customers to save money (no VGA card purchase required) and reduce energy use. This is strike two for Gigabyte after they hyped Lucid's Virtu software and neglected to inform customers that they only have drivers for Windows 7.
