2 out of 5 eggsBad Board

Pros: The only good thing was Newegg support.

Cons: I had a bad board out of the box and I called Gigabyte and they said they would NOT honor the warranty. I spend about 12 hours on the phone with Gigabyte thought the week. Then I contacted Newegg, they said they would honor the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: One of my complaints is that I had a bad board. I know its going to happen to someone, but my biggest complaint is that it took 2 1/2 mouths to get a new one.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsno problems

Pros: The GA-990FXA-UD7, like other baords in Gigabyte's Ultra Durable series, is built like a tank. The PCB is very thick and there is virtually no flex whatsoever. This is a very solid motherboard, you can't tell from the pictures. The layout is clean with nothing looking like it was shoehorned in. Full-length heatpipe connecting the Southbridge, Northbridge and VRMs for a more even heat dissipation. Fired right up after installing, already came with the latest FC BIOS.

Survived an 8 hour run of Prime95 blend without warnings or errors, and the highest temp observed by HWMonitor was 43°C at full load. The G.Skill RAM was running its most aggressive XMP Profile 2 with timings of 1866Mhz at 9-9-9-24-1T.

Cons: Loadline calibration doesn't work well, or at all, when set to Auto. To maintain proper voltages when under full load (such as a Prime95 run), you need to set the Loadline Calibration to "High". Not "Very High", not "Extreme". Just "High".

Not really a con, but you need to be mindful of the PCI-E slot #1 (where your only/first video card goes). If you have a large CPU cooler like Noctua NH-D14, the back of the video card will be within a few centimeters of the fins/fan clips on the Noctua. No risk of contact, but they are close.

Other Thoughts: Be aware that this is an Extended ATX motherboard, so be sure your case can accommodate it before you order.

If you are populating more than three PCI-E slots, Gigabyte recommends connecting ATXP4 to a SATA power connection for auxiliary power to ensure the slots are not power starved.

Newegg was out of stock on this board for months, literally. I emailed Gigabyte's tech support and asked them if they were still making it. I got an email reply 8 minutes later saying yes they still make this board. Yes, 8 minute turnaround to an email question. On a Friday. Amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsNot Owned but response to Manufacturer

Pros: Manufacturer caring and thoughtful responses to customers, AMD name, Gigabyte Power, Rock Solid

Cons: NA

Other Thoughts: I just wanted to say thank you to Gigabyte for responding to the reviews on Websites like Newegg.com. The concern and extra mile you go pays off in loyalty. While I typically by Asus because they have outstanding customer support, I have used Gigabyte in the past and have had nothing but rock solid stability and performance. Keep it up.

Pros: None DOA

Cons: It came straight out of the box DOA

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your comments. We apologize for your difficulty with your GIGABYTE product. Please contact us at newegg-support@gigabyteusa.com with the case number 105594 in the e-mail subject line. We will provide personalized service and analysis to help solve your issue ASAP. If the matter is urgent, please send us your contact number, and we will contact you.

For no POST/display issue, please check the following:

1. Be sure the CPU is supported by this motherboard, for CPU support list please go to the GIGABYTE website.
2. Check memory requirement and memory installation, be sure the memory is/are seated properly. You may test the board with a single stick to rule a single bad stick of memory.
3. Be sure the ATX 24-Pin and ATX 12V 4 or 8-Pin are plugged in firmly into the board.
4. Check for visible bent or broken pin(s) in the CPU
5. If you have an add-on video card installed, please check if the card requires additional powers 4, 6, or 8 Pin PCIE power.
6. Test the board on a non-conductive surface or test bench to rule out the grounding possibility.
7. Check monitor for video input selection, VGA, DVI, or HDMI.
8. Avoid using any video adapter or KVM switch.
9. Test with different video cable.
10. Clear the CMOS by taking out the CMOS battery from the battery socket, leave it out for 5 minutes and place it back after that (positive side faces up).

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Bought my first board to use with amd 8350 and 2x7950s. Got into mining sold both cards for 810$ and bought 2x290s for $394 each from here. Burned out one of the gpus and damaged my motherboard, sent back for rma and couldn't wait and ended up buying another from newegg and to go with it a 9590 cpu. Mobo came as rev 3.0 and with current fc bios to use the 9590...slapped it all together and with another 290 so 3 in total. and wow....POWERHOUSE....I also have the lepa 1600 gold. so my cieling for oc is getting pretty slim since the 290s can be quite the power hog. overall the Ud7 is prolly the best board I've used for amd platform. Bought the Asus rog board and was not liking the performance compared to the ud7, simply returned and bought the ud7.

Cons: none...regret mining with mine.

Other Thoughts: Asus rod board looked awesome and pretty sleek but overall i could not get what I wanted out of it, that being said others may get what they want and is a decent and comparable motherboard. I simpy couldn't get the performance I wanted for the price I paid.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Good Board

Pros: Great Board. packed with features and reliable, ruff and rugged, who can ask for anything more? oh wait, the amount of outputs on back I/O panel is a lot more than I had on my server!
I love the power button and reset button onboard for testing when front panel isn't available. clear Cmos also handy.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I waited and waited for this to come back into stock. days, nights and mornings. It finally was in stock late night, early am. and I purchased it immediately and I'm glad I did as it was out of stock almost within the hour.

2 out of 5 eggsDont know what to say. DOA?

Pros: none. Hoping that changes when i get replacement.

It was able to turn on after getting a PSU replacement so thats why it gets a 2 rating.

Cons: Possible DOA. Giving it another chance. no further Con at the moment.

Other Thoughts: I decided to RMA replace motherboard and the processor

(AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor FD8350FRHKBOX ).

These were the two remaining pieces that is causing the problem of the monitor to say "DVI no signal". The tower was built and I could turn on the tower for the first time, but the monitor wont go even to BIOS or anything. I let my friend borrow my graphics card to try it and it works on his. PSU and RAM probably not responsible. Possibly DOA? But I am giving it another chance.

3 out of 5 eggsPretty Good Board

Pros: Well placed PCI slots and other connectors. BIOS reset button on board. BIOS user interface is easy to navigate. Customer service was helpful. Nice looking and appears to have good cooling solutions and the board is competitively priced.

Cons: Very fragile power connector, located in a terrible spot. Takes 3 power cables for the 1 board. The board seems touchy and can't handle things like plugging in multiple graphics cards at one time.

Other Thoughts: I've only had the board for a little over a month. I would give the board a 4 star, except for the fact that it has a horrible placed power connector that is very flimsy and it take 3 power connectors to run the board. On the good side it was one of the only boards I could find that offers a significant, extended warranty through Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: A good board for the price

Cons: You can't raid all the sata ports. The gigabyte sata won't but in a raid when you have the other sata ports booted in a raid. Not enough bios memory or something of that nature. If you have it on there you should be able to use it all at once right?

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte has newer drivers for this and them seem to run better than the older ones. I would suggest downloading the new ones.

5 out of 5 eggsRobust

Pros: I had this board in and out of a custom case multiple times to figure out fit and make measurements. I was really worried I might short it out but it ran fantastic from the beginning. I use this with 6 7950s and PCI-E risers. By the 3rd card, all risers need to be powered.

One great feature is the on/off and reset button directly on the board. Since I'm in a custom opne-air case that doesn't have buttons this is fantastic.

Overall everything works perfect, and the board looks great.

Cons: Not sure if this exists but with 6 PCI-E cards they should expect you're running a second PSU and provide a second plug so you don't need to jump a molex plug into your second PSU.
