4 out of 5 eggsBIOS, beware

Pros: Great board

Cons: New processor BIOS UPDATE procedure lack of instruction

Other Thoughts: When you get a board that came out before the latest processor if you must update BIOS to run that new processor you have to do the update with an older processor that the current BIOS RECOGNIZES then you can install the new processor.
When the FX-8150 came along I had to use a cheap 30 dollar dual core to do the update for the rev.1. but I ALSO GOT A REV.3 for the FX-9590 and you still have to do the same thing. lucky for me I had done it before but GIGABYTE you may want to let folks know up front and save yourself a few RMAs.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: ?

Cons: DOA, a few months ago I ordered an Asrock 990FX Extreme3. 2 DOAs later I got a refund and got an ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0. It worked like a charm. This time I ordered a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5. It arrived DOA. I got a refund and bought an ASUS 990FXA R2.0 Sabertooth. Works like a charm.

1 out of 5 eggsGigabyte support

Pros: Nice while it lasted.

Cons: Board is bad, sent back to Gigabyte for review. All they said on the RMA was tested and no problems found. Got it back and it still has the exact same issue. Bios will not even load.I don't know how they "tested" it, but obviously not thorough enough. All brand new hardware in the PC. All from NEWEGG by the way. VERY VERY disappointed in Gigabyte support. this is the 5th Gigabyte board I've owned and always had great experience. Very disappointing that the first time I've had an issue with one they seemed lackluster in their responses. What would it cost a multi-million dollar company to just replace my board for people who live paycheck to paycheck and pay 200 dollars for a supposedly great board to get passed over and what feels like completely ignored. In the end the easiest way to see that it IS the board and NOT one of my other brand new components. I replaced this UD5 with a brand new UD3 from newegg, also gigabyte with the same chipset and everything is working flawlessly. VERY VERY disappointed that Gigabyte was so poor in helping me out with a 32 day old motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Darn shame. love gigabyte boards but this unhelpful experience has really soured me on a company that I have been dealing with for years.

4 out of 5 eggsAbove Average

Pros: ·The AMD SB950 was able to recognize the RAID0 array from my Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P -making for a very smooth migration. (I still used the Windows PE to create an image of the original partitions though as a precaution.)
·Compatible with RAM from the Socket AM3 system (I was able to re-use my old RAM).

Cons: ·PS/2 device detection is problematic (e.g. a PS/2 mouse was identified as a keyboard). After a few weeks of being plugged in, the PS/2 mouse was finally recognized -automagically.
·Disabling the BIOS full-screen logo doesn't hide the American Megatrends BIOS splash. (I want to see BIOS info during POST -not splash screens.)
·Only one integrated NIC.

Other Thoughts: It was sad to purchase stagnated technology. (I'm referring to AMD processors and the lack of innovation due to the slump in the PC market.) Yet, it made more sense to acquire an AM3+ motherboard rather than replacing my cooked Phenom II 955 CPU. This is my third Gigabyte motherboard in a row (socket 939, AM3, AM3+) I'm satisfied with the quality and look forward to their future products once AMD does something.

1 out of 5 eggsbad news

Pros: it boots up

Cons: crashes frequently, reboots often or hangs up.

Other Thoughts: bought to use with a new 9370 CPU but system crashes constantly. I already own two earlier models that work flawlessly but this new UEFI BIUS is terrible. Even with all temp control disabled CPU clock varies wildly between 1.9 ghz and 4.0 GHZ. CPU crashes almost if run at 4,5 ghz despite H100I cooling system. CPU cores keep dropping out even though BIOS set to have all run.

I will RMA and replace with an ASUS even though I have bought nothing but Gigabyte for several years now.

1 out of 5 eggsVERY dissapointed

Pros: Worked well, while it lasted

Cons: Died 2 days outside of Newegg 30 day warranty. Won't even go into BIOS anymore. So much for "Durable" Dual bios doesn't do you much good if you cant even boot into it to change to the other. VERY disappointed this is my 4th Gigabyte board, the first time I have bought a high end one from them. Will probably be the last. I have purchased 99 dollar boards from them years ago that still work fine to this day. VERY disappointed.

Other Thoughts: Expected a lot more from a 200 motherboard. I use it for HTPC and now cannot watch any movies due to a failed, expensive product.

5 out of 5 eggsJust sayin'

Pros: Great looking board.

Cons: None that I know of.
I wish I could afford such a nice board.

Other Thoughts: Hey Adam... Last time I heard a high pitched squeal from my mobo speaker was when I did MY first build. It was a Socket A Athlon and when I got the sound, I shut it down and tried again. It then squealed and died. Mobo dead and processor fried.
Maybe just disconnecting the speaker is not such a good idea.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Motherboard

Pros: Works great, I'm a new PC builder and this was my first computer build.. Everything seems to be working except for a couple things which were more just annoyances than anything. Not worth an RMA in my opinion

Cons: OK so here's why I took an egg off.. Everything worked great when I first loaded Windows 8.1 OEM on my system.. I reboot, and then suddenly the speaker on the motherboard shoots out this high pitched frequency and wouldn't stop.. I flashed a new update to the bios and it still does it.. A really big annoyance, but no hard really in removing the speaker..

The other issues are the boosted USB 3.0 ports go slower than the 2.0 ports.. There is a significant difference in speed.. Not anything too big since I don't really rely on the USB ports for transferring data, all my drives are internal so the one or two times I need to use the USB for transferring data usually isn't for anything more than a gig or two..

Other Thoughts: Overall, for my first build it's a great motherboard.. The bios is pretty nice as well, better than the standard text displays.. Has actual graphics built in with a menu that you can use your mouse to control. Has lots of options that I haven't seen in standard store bought computers.. The manual is very handy so please do use it.. Helped me get out of a few pickles :)

5 out of 5 eggsVery Stable MB

Pros: Its a very stable mother board that stays cool under extreme duress. Extremely fast compared to some intel boards and very reasonably priced. I am pretty satisfied up to this point with very few hick ups. Windows 8.1 on the other hand can cause some of the many issues folks complain about. Rock solid knock on wood heehee

Cons: Does not like windows 8.1 all to well but it copes with it like a raccoon that's in your attic makin all sorts of noise heehee.

Other Thoughts: Its a great buy for the money for those gamers out thier who are on a sever budget.
