3 out of 5 eggsInstall results

Pros: (Now) works. Installed Fedora 21 via DVD. Installed to 256GB SSD (system) and 1TB HDD Data (/home).

Cons: Would not post out of the box with FX 8350 that was bought with motherboard and memory. Replaced memory with know good and no go. Removed all SATA connections, no go. Popped out battery to set to defaults... No go.

Had a working Phenom II x4 945. Popped that in and it works fine. Either 8350 processor is bad or BIOS not supported.

BIOS is one rev back.

Keyboard/Mouse not working problem with Linux solved with IOMMU enabled in BIOS (thanks to a poster that suggested this). Ethernet port works too in Linux

Other Thoughts: All seems to be working. Added a PCI ethernet card and it worked. Time will tell as I kick more of it's wheels so to speak.

2 out of 5 eggsCareless

Pros: Board has good specs

Cons: Poor QA
Poor Manufacturing

Other Thoughts: I purchased this board after viewing the specs and find it surpassed most other 990fx boards. Ive been a tried and true MSI user for the past 7 years and thought I would try something new. Well I received my first board got it installed. What do you know, no bios on the board. So I go through the Newegg RMA process and get a new board shipped. Get it installed and a second time no bios. Two boards in a row no bios. No POST, no errors just no bios at all. So now I am in the middle of another RMA and getting a different board because 1 they no longer stock this board (which is probably smart on their end) and 2 I don't want to deal with another poorly manufactured board.

3 out of 5 eggsNot getting any better

Pros: Had no issues booting with my FX9590, and was able to flash BIOS while using FX 9590. Unlike previous reviews.

Cons: They've yet to update the design (as with the rev.1) still unable to use my pci ex 1 sound blaster in the pci ex 1 slot. Purchased 3 rev 3 boards so far only tested one. Which seems to have a few issues - major gripe being first pci ex 16 slot is faulty. It only took me 5 days of disassembling and reassembling this setup to realize this was the cause my setup was constantly freezing.

Other Thoughts: Have been a Gigabyte girl for awhile now, having purchasing only their boards for all my builds over the past 11 years. But the quality seems to be going downhill while the price keeps climbing

4 out of 5 eggsAMD FX 8350 unstable

Pros: Well built board with plenty of sata and usb 3 ports.

Cons: My AMD FX 8350 would not run stable at stock settings. I had to increase the LLC to 'extreme' to run stable. This option is in M.I.T/Advanced Voltage Settings/Vcore Loadline Calibration. Ran Prime95 over night to verify stability. I tried with two different 8350s and the result was the same.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks but underperrfoms

Pros: Good looking board with easy to understand Bios

Cons: Will not read memory correctly. I have tried numerous 1866 memory but the board, even with the latest BIOs only reads any memory at 1333 If you go into the bios and try to change the configuration to what the memory is rated it reboots with a boot failure and only allows 3 options load bios defaults and boot, load bios defaults and reboot or enter BIOS.I am returning it.

Other Thoughts: I have worked with Gigabyte for the last 2 weeks and all they want me to do is keep swapping memory, remove memory and retry with no correction at all. I have been a gigabyte fan for many years but this board is very poor. I believe they have tried to use this board for newer FX 9000 series chips when it is not designed for it.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat until it FAILS!!!!

Pros: Amazing capacity. Supported my Phenom II x6 perfectly and even upgraded Nvidia GTX 770.

I used the board for about 2 years. ONe day it rebooted and went into a repetative loop where it would not get out of POST. Finally after about an hour of trying to activate the Dual-BIOS feature (WHICH ALSO FAILED) the board shorted itself and died.

Other Thoughts: Since Gigabytes motherboards seem to fail in the same fashion I will NEVER by a gigabyte motherboard again or recommend it to my customers who want stability. I will pay more for quality. The only reason it gets 2 stars instead of one is because it did work for more than a year w/o issue.

4 out of 5 eggsMine hates Windows

Pros: Runs Fedora 21 REAL well. Not a single problem so far.

Cons: Hates every version of Windows I've thrown at it (maybe I need to change something in the BIOS?)

Tried Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Tried Windows 8.1 Full 64-bit
Tried Windows 8.1 Professional 64-bit

None could get past the {Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" screen

Other Thoughts: AMD FX-8320
16GB RAM (1600)
Dual 1TB 6B/s SATA drives

4 out of 5 eggsupdate

Pros: when you get it up and running great board.

Cons: Just like with the first boards that came out before the FX cpus had to use an older cpu that the bios could recognize to update the bios to use the newer cpu. The same was required for the FX9590. It was just by luck I remembered that and tried it and that would have been nice had they told us instead of having to rack your brains to figure out why the board can't see the cpu for what it is

Other Thoughts: original bios had cpu running at 4ghz not 4.7 and could not update bios with FX9590 installed. Used same cheap 30$ cpu that I used to update bios on my rev.1 board to run my FX8150. took away 1 egg for hassle not for board.
