2 out of 5 eggsHorrible Audio Noise

Pros: A visually appealing board.

Cons: I actually owned the ud7 for much longer than this ud5, but it died on me, and now I've found that my second Gigabyte board in a row is less than satisfactory, because although this one is still working, it emits horrific noise in the audio (i've tried multiple audio devices, plugged both into the back and through the front-end audio, and with various driver/bios updates). The noise clearly reacts to the various activities that I perform (i.e. a mouse movement causes a whirring to become a buzzing, etc. etc.). That aside, I'd also like to call out Gigabyte for the disgusting act of including bloatware on their driver CD. When I realized that it was trying to install norton, even killing the task and reentering the CD wouldn't stop the job, and the installation just continued. That aside, I don't like the placement of the PCI slots as opposed to my old UD7, and nothing else really stands out on this board to make it worth the money. I wholeheartedly regret not moving to another brand when my UD7 died, and now I'm stuck with yet ANOTHER bad Gigabyte product, as I am under an FPO military address and Newegg would rather make my life miserable trying to return an item than support the military. I've been a Gigabyte user since my Uncle showed me into the hobby seven years ago and have literally never purchased another brand of motherboard, but this has made me sick and I won't be buying Gigabyte again.

Other Thoughts: The short story is that there just isn't really anything about this board that is better than some other particular choices out right now, and I've have bad results throughout this line of boards (although I haven't tried the ud3).

3 out of 5 eggsGood, but has limitations

Pros: High Quality

Cons: Limited

Other Thoughts: I bought this board due to the quality and having 8 sata connections. I have a dual boot system. Now, I should have installed WinXP with AHCI, but I didn't understand that I would have to get the driver into the install CD, or really, I didn't think about it. No floppies. The limitation with the board though, is if the first 4 sata ports aren't set to AHCI or RAID, then the next 2 ports aren't enabled. Ports 6 and 7 are on another controller so they aren't effected. Because of this though the board only have 6 ports that are usable unless the condition I stated is met, and not 8. I needed 8.

Other than this I like the board. I bought eSATA to SATA cables to use my external ports to route into the computer as a workaround. Maybe one day I'll go through the hassle of getting WinXP to accept the AHCI setting, but I can't do a reinstall since no more WinXP support, or I don't get the last security updates after SP3.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Matte black pcb looks neutral in the case, no flashy color scheme and overall clean look. The heatsinks on the mb are a huge upgrade from the UD3, well their older revision anyway. Solid build, breadboraded and booted. The UEFI bios isnt as nice as Asus, but it is miles ahead of their legacy bios.Definitely worth $160 and happy I didnt go with the Asus Sabertooth.
Build in DD allows me to use my mixamp to its potential. I will say the onboard audio isnt that bad, but it lacks power to drive anything over 60ohms, at least in my estimation. My 105ohm headphones were not adequately powered so you may want to look into a dac or some external amp if you have nicer cans.
It allowed me to push my fx6300 to 4.61GHz with a CM Hyper N520, which is pretty good in my book considering the limitations of the cooler.

Cons: The PCI-Ex1 slot is awfully close to the NB heatsink, so it's pretty much useless unless you have an abnormally short card.
No coax digital out, but there is a header so it's not that big a deal.
Triple SLI/CFX is a joke, you need water-cooling unless you want the top card(s) starving for air. Spacing could be improved.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure I would pay MSRP for this board, but at the time of purchase, it was only another $25 from the UD3 so I consider this money well spent.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Runs as specified. Had the memory controller limitation issue and Newegg was nice enough to swap the 4x4 for 2x8 which now runs at 1866 right out of the box.. Awesome board and awesome customer service by newegg!!! Thank you!!

Cons: All those who complain about this board do your research. Its not the board and its not Gigabyte. All these FX boards can only use 2 DIMM slots or it runs at 1333. You'll find ASUS and all other manufacturers have the same issue with memory controller limitations. I changed my RAM from 4x4 to 2x8 and now have 0 problems. If you use all 4 memory slots you must clock your RAM at 1600 but that the best you can do..

Other Thoughts: Great board, very happy with my purchase and the overall performance of my new rig!!

Pros: Works good if you only want to use 2 dims for your ram.....

Customer service is horable as usual and no help at all really. I guess I am "S OUT OF LUCK" RAM HEAR WE COME! THIS WILL BE MY THIRD BOARD IN A YEARS TIME.........THE HELL WITH GIGABYTE! GO ASUS!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang To Buck AM3+ Mobo!

Pros: Bought this Mobo for my AM3+ Build, I was what i felt like was the best Mobo for the money, and since i don't need 4 way CF/SLI, this again was the best choice. Has kept my 8350 at 4.6-5.1Ghz for months now, doesn't even sweat it.

Cons: Their might be a Bad SATA Port on one of the 6 Cluster sockets, i switched sockets and cables and the problems went away, so idk if it's Port or Cable, really don't want the HDD Fails to start up again just to test.

Other Thoughts: Pretty much the best AM3+ Mobo for the money range, if you want 2 x16 SLI/CF or just 3 way SLI/CF period and want all the Performance out of your new AMD CPU, get this.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't post with fx9370 out of the box.

Pros: None; unusable.

Cons: -Completely unusable for FX9370 build.

Other Thoughts: I assumed that because the board is compatible with a number of visheras out of the box that it would at least post, or allow me to update the bios. Not only is this not the case, it also doesn't generate any beeps or any information whatsoever. it also fails to post with no CPU, which I know is a longshot, but was worth a shot.

I don't even know if it's DOA or not. Fans spin up, lights go on, board gets power, but absolutely nothing happens. I tested multiple for sure working RAM modules and several different GPUs in several different slots. I have spent hours testing the blasted thing with multiple configurations but I'm up the river because I don't have a spare AM3 processor to upgrade my bios. I don't understand how they can advertise that it supports these gpus without mentioning that it requires not only a bios upgrade but that this upgrade is impossible without an older CPU. upgrading from an APU machine, I do not, and I am furious.

AVOID this board if you are going with a 9370 or similar, check the compatibility list on gigabytes website and make sure if you need a bios upgrade you have something that works!
