1 out of 5 eggsLow quality

Pros: Looks cool that is it.

Cons: VRM cooling is HORRIBLE cannot overclock my fx8350 past 4.5ghz on water cooling. Mobo Temp sensors DO NOT work, Northbridge is too hot to touch even at 4.5ghz but monitors display 42c, voltage throttling at anything past 4.5ghz. This is more than a "bad apple" every rev3.0 board is JUNK. Pointing a fan directly on NB is the only way I can overclock this board. Overpriced garbage. Even cheap boards OC better.

Other Thoughts: Google this board.. Gigabyte's quality has gone down hill. Nothing but problems with this board even on small overclocks.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Mobo

Pros: -Simple to set up
-Very durable
-Nice budget board
-good aesthetics
-Newegg's outstanding speed of packing!!

Cons: For what ever unknown reason every time I turn it on I get the gigabyte screen with the keys to enter BIOS etc. and it will not boot until I hit a key. Once I hit a key then it gives me my post beep and boots right up. Don't know why it does this. No big deal just frustrating to me.

Other Thoughts: Great Mb I would always recommend Gigabyte or Asus. Never had a problem with either. I do prefer the Asus UEFI vrs. gigabyte UEFI

3 out of 5 eggsBuy a UD5 instead

Pros: Lots of features, plenty of USB ports, I like the little feature of some USB ports remaining powered even if the computer is shut off or in sleep mode, holds up to 32gb of RAM

Cons: I come to find out after purchasing that this board has issues with the Northbridge overheating due to a poor/low quality heatsink design which can ruin the board if the system is used under heavy load. Check out the various tech forums before buying this board.

Other Thoughts: Make sure to check out your processor's recommended specifications for RAM configurations. This board lists that it supports 1866mhz RAM, which is true but misleading at the same time. In my case I bought 32gb of 1866mhz RAM and I'm not able to run it at that speed due to the memory controller of my processor (AMD FX8350) can't support that speed for that much total RAM. This isn't the board's fault really, but for the novice builder out there it's worth noting that just because the board supports higher speed RAM doesn't mean you'll actually be able to run at that speed

3 out of 5 eggsIssues with RAM

Pros: -Board looks great, I like the black finish.
-Plenty of inputs.
-UEFI bios

Cons: I had 16gb (2x8) of gskill ddr3 1866 8-9-9-24 loaded onto this board in dual-channel and could never get it to function properly with the bios. When speeds were set any higher than 1333mhz my rig would power up, immediately shut off, then power on again. I received several error messages in bios about potentially faulty configurations. When left alone at the slower default settings for RAM, i had no problems out of this board. But as soon as I started adjusting any of the RAM settings I started having problems. I filed an RMA and will be returning this board in favor of a Asus Sabertooth gen3. If ram speeds are not an issue I would recommend this board. But if you have fast ram and want to the full performance out of it you would be better off with something else.

3 out of 5 eggsA great 4core no o'clock board

Pros: Great 4-6 core no overclock type board

Cons: This board will not handle for any reasonable period of time any overclocked 8 core cpu. I call 4.6 ghz reasonable, when it is liquid cooled. The VRMs on this board overheat and force the cpu to throttle.

Other Thoughts: This is a good board. Just not for overclockers and 8 core cpu's.
I ran a four core overcloced amd on it for over a year and it worked great. I upgraded to a eight core and it is dying four months later.

5 out of 5 eggsSick MOBO

Pros: Easy to setup. Came with all the screws necessary and some awesome cables. Software was easy to install. Of course once I restarted with the CD drivers, I downloaded the latest from the website. Updated its BIOS with ease, using @BIOS.

The machine I built is blazing fast, and I haven't even overclocked it fully.

Amazed at the allowed adjustments of the memory and voltage in the BIOS, a true performance or gaming enthusiast's motherboard

Cons: None. Buy this board! Not a bad upgrade from an older dual-core AMD on a AM2 socket. Will get me by until AMD releases a PCI-Express 3.0 motherboard.

Other Thoughts: This is my air cooled build. (Still waiting on price drop to upgrade graphics card

1 out of 5 eggsbean counter special

Pros: It comes in a nice package and it fits perfectly in the 2 mid size cases I've put it in so far.

Cons: It would not recognize my 2 hard drives until they were formatted even though both of them are in good condition.
After updating the bios to FC it got hard to overclock with a complicated system that requires one to go to Windows twice for every change.
I was careful to watch the temps and never let it get too hot after hearing of the problems others were having and it held together ok until 3 days ago when the cpu fan stopped spooling up when it got hot. I found out when I quit a game and saw that it was too hot, but the damage was done. It is now warped and runs hotter than before. Setting the fan to manual got it up to speed again.
It appears from talking with others that those with 4XXX series CPUs are ok and most with 6XXX series CPUs are ok, but very few with 8XXX series CPUs can keep this mobo alive for more than a few months.
The culprits are the Northbridge heat sink and the bios.
The worst thing is that Newegg recommended this board with the FX8350. They get one egg on the face for that.

Other Thoughts: I was pretty happy with this board for 2 months. Now I just hope it holds together long enough for its replacement to arrive.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: Easy, to set up. Easy to Manually set timings on 1866 memory. It turns out I didn't even have to manually set timings because the memory had two XMP profiles and this board recognizes XMP. That is nice to know for WHEN I use this motherboard for a build again. Two pci express 2.0 X16. The list goes on, and on, and on.

Cons: I hate the back-plate that comes with this board. I hate the back plate which comes with every motherboard.

Other Thoughts: For board version 3.0: If you are going to flash BIOS-Take usb thumb drive fat32 format, extract BIOS version FC to thumb drive from a different computer. Connect this thumb drive to usb 2.0 port on motherboard. Boot up and go immediately into Qflash. Do not go into BIOS and look around however tempting this may be, trust me. Once you are in Qflash follow simple directions. Flashing BIOS is always a risk, so make sure everything is seated properly and do some research into some horror stories of flashing BIOS before you do it.

My econo gaming rig came in at just under six-forty with no O.C.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid

Pros: Running rock solid for 3 weeks now with no problems. No issues with installation. Once win 7 installed I updated bios without issue. Bios interface is graphical and mouse enabled. Markings on MB are very clear and legible. Manual is typical. Dual bios is a nice feature to have. My experience with this MB has been all good as it has been with other Gigabyte boards.

Cons: This con applies to pretty much all motherboards... I wish the industry would improve the case to motherboard connectors. We've been using the same small, cumbersome connectors for at least 20 years, without any real improvements. I'm sure they could standardize the case connectors into one single plug and likewise the mothboard. People with large hands (like me) have to use tweezers when the case layout may prevent wide open access. They managed to stop making boards with those darn jumpers you had to set...why not create a simple single plug for the case connector ?

Other Thoughts: It drives me nuts when people knock eggs off for a board not having certain abilities, specs, etc. when all that information is listed before they purchase. Thats why manufacturers make different types of boards...so you can get the features you want. Newegg should should flag those kind of reviewers as fools.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This board presents a happy medium across all platforms. It supports AMD for those who want a cheaper build. It has an exchangeable back plate for those who like radiator or liquid cooling. It has several PCI-E slots with two x16 for those who want/would like dual GPU configuration. The durability is impressive. The always on USB is great for my phone, and it's audio chip is what you'd find on similar boards. Two years after it's introduction, the 990FX-UD3 is still a great board. Easy to tinker with overclocking (That dual bios feature is extremely helpful). On board RAID Support

Cons: *Laughs at the fact that this is a required field*

Other Thoughts: Some say they are having problems with this board. I don't mean to criticize anyone, but you can't blame a board on it's revision or by the fact it doesn't support the AMD FX-8320/8350 (It does by the way and I have one overclocked). That's like saying you bought a pan that is used to bake in and saying it doesn't fry very well. What you need to look at is what this board's intended purpose was. If you try to throw a Nvidia Titan at this thing and the FX-8350 overclocked and you supply it with only a 500 Watt power supply, your thrust-to-weight ratio is less than one and you won't be able to achieve liftoff in the first place.

TL;DR : Give this board some generousness. Use the money saved on this to beef up your power supply.

Over the past six months this board has been taken through a college dorm transition.
