5 out of 5 eggsBest Board for the Price No Question

Pros: Features, Japanese Capacitors, Humidity protection, Layout, Looks, Easy of Use, Ease of Install, High Speeds, Extra Copper Worksmanship, Firewire, Toslink, Dual UEFI Bios, Easy to Configure...

Cons: Nothing major yet, see review.

Other Thoughts: This board is the best out there for the cost, there is no arguing that fact. Its features dwarf boards in the $200 range, and it is a very nice looking board as well. I have it paired with a great performance setup, and it just flat works. Only thing I didn't like is the location of 2 mounting screws being difficult to install due to component placement, and the fact the ram slots are a bit closer than I wanted due to the massive 212 Evo heat sink I am using for the processor. But, that said, it all fits. It is just tight. Another plus that is annoying to me is that the board says it is limited to 2000 (oc'd) as far as ram goes... I know you can change settings and what not but I wanted plug and play. No need to make adjustments. This is not the case. I wish I would have known that. My friend liked mine so much he built the same exact thing, only 2133 was cheaper at the time. The motherboard recognized it right away (2133 G. Skill Ripjaws) and it works perfectly. No dialing down things, or changing wattage. That annoyed me as I could myself have gotten the better ram... So don't let the 2000 thing fool yah. While it may only allow that speed on the board, it recognizes it and uses it without auto changing it.

My build is:

Rosewill Blackhawk Case
(obviously the Gigabyte Board reviewed here)
Rosewill Hive 750w (more than I need)
2-8Gig Sticks of G. Skill 1886 Ripjaws (2 slots open)
AMD FX-8350 Processor
120 Gig Samsung Pro Solid State Drive
1 Terabyte WD Caviar Black Drive
2- very old WD Caviar Black Drives (I think 320 each?)
Hyper Evo 212 Heatsink
Asus DVD drive
PowerColor Devil (PowerColor DEVIL AXR9 270X 2GBD5-A2DHE Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP)
Windows 7 Pro

(And yes, you can build a setup like this for around a grand if you pay attention and use the good deals and rebates)

1 out of 5 eggsDoA

Pros: Beautiful looking motherboard, would have done everything i wanted it to.

Cons: I bought one and it was DoA. I figure this could happen so i sent in an RMA and got a new one. The second one was DoA as well, i took it to tech experts. People who build computers for a living and all agree.

1 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival

Pros: Seems sturdy with lots of room for expansions

Cons: Motherboard was nonfunctional on arrival. Underwent various tests to be sure.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Job

Pros: Great board. Does what it's supposed to. No problems yet after several months of use.

Cons: My add-on usb3 pci-x 1 port card has faster speeds than the built in usb3 headers.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board simply because of the placement of the pci and pci-x ports due to rebuilding a machine with very specific add-on cards.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board!

Pros: Great extras with this board. Love the aesthetic and the layout.

Cons: Won't run my ram at 1866. I turned on xmp mode and can set it to 1866, but it will not boot to windows.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Don't know what others are complaining about as this board works great for me with no problems what so ever and I love the Bio's which is real nice for Overclocking! Have had it running for 4 months now and its great with 2 AMD cards in Crossfire mode.

Cons: As for me there's no cons except that most newer boards put up to 4 x16 PCI-E slots and only 2 run at x16 and if using 3 cards they run at x16 x8 x8 and the forth runs at x4. when they make a board with 4 x16 slots they all should run at x16 Hopefully in the future they would get the hint that in order for them to make more money from us is to make the 4 slots x16 so we can use 4 graphics cards without downgrading the graphics when using 3 or more cards? Then they would sell more graphics cards to us?

Other Thoughts: Running an Liquid cooled AMD 8320 X8 Core CPU with 2 single slot XFX 7770 Ghost cards in Crossfire mode at 4GHz working great. Most people can't afford the newest cards that cost around $1500 to $3000 dollars with 8 to 12 Gigs of memory or even the $400 to $600 cards are expensive for the price so when they come down in a year or more I may upgrade cards but need the prices to come way down so I could afford them.

4 out of 5 eggsNo luck with core unlocking

Pros: Excellent performer so far. Overclocks the 960T to a stable 3.875. Seems more responsive than the previous (GA-MA770T). Boot up and shutdown time seem improved. I like the new gizmos (USB3, SATA 6GB, and etc.)

Cons: It doesn't unlock the 2 additional cores. Caution people, if you're buying this board hoping to unlock Phenom II cores, be ready for a major disappointment. Technical support is great and they even emailed me a beta BIOS to try, but it's not the BIOS, it's the chipset.

Other Thoughts: I'm stuck now. Should I go back to the old 770 and have 2 extra cores, or settle for this? Bummer.

4 out of 5 eggsInitial Thoughts

Pros: 90 degree sata ports.
Color scheme.
Excellent VRM/chipset cooling.
Plenty of I/O headers for any after market additions you might have.
I'm sure there are some other small things I'm missing here, but oh well.

Cons: Vdroop, sweet terrible Vdroop.
Setting the voltage at 1.35 for my fx-6300 it drops below 1.29 during stress testing resulting in multiple cores immediately failing and the eventual BSOD. Medium LLC setting helps alleviate it a bit not letting it drop below 1.344.

I've confirmed this issue with many people I know that own this board, so it's not just me. When overclocking it tends to stutter when it boots. It will power on and start booting and quickly shut off for a second and then continue booting again. Not a ground breaking issue as I don't see any damage resulting from it, but it's a nuisance.

Other Thoughts: Not really a con but a downside. There is only 1 CPU fan header. Basically anyone running an aftermarket air cooler with 2 fans is going to have to route a fan cable somewhere else for another header, or use an ugly looking splitter.

4 out of 5 eggsBest Board I've Had So Far

Pros: -6 Sata3 connections mounted horizontally (though some may prefer their Sata connections pointed upwards)
-I/O Panel full of usbs
-Color coded front panel connections
-USB On/Off capability

Cons: -None

Other Thoughts: I love this board and highly recommend it. However, keep in mind that you will need a video card as this has replaced all video connection functionality in order to accommodate the abundance of USB ports on the back. Also, the ability to charge via USB while the PC is off is very nice. The only reason I took 1 star off was because during the installation of the On/Off USB drivers, it surged and killed a few things that were plugged in (Ecigarette, Ecigarette charger, flash drives). So be sure to keep your ports clear when installing/updating On/Off drivers.

1 out of 5 eggsDead after a few hours...

Pros: Looks great aesthetically

Cons: Only worked for a few hours. I was in the process of installing drivers after initially installing the OS and during one of the restarts it died. No display and no POST beeps after that. I took the whole build apart twice and reassemlbled with no success. I swapped every other component (CPU, RAM, GPU, PSU) in the build to an older build and everything worked fine. Mobo is dead for sure. This board was anything but "ultra durable." What is unfortunate is that I purchased the components for this build separately over the course of a month or two to catch the best sales. I will never do that again! 30 days had passed before unboxing and assembly so newegg.com will not accept return for replacement. It is day 53 since initial order and I am now at the mercy of the manufacturer. Who knows how long they will take to send me a new board. This is my first Gigabyte product and I am not at all satisfied thus far...
