4 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: Pretty nice, multiple bios is very handy- nice location of pins.

Cons: Wish there more fan ports.... although it seems to be common within this north-bridge type.

Other Thoughts: Has everything I need plus more... still have extra internal usb 2.0 ports not in use, plus I only use one 2gb video card, so I always have room to expand there.

3 out of 5 eggsCareful about RAID use

Pros: For ordinary desk top use, this is a very capable MB. It is missing any video port which may trouble some people. For me, the problem was that I did not realize (nor did Gigabyte!) that the maximum size RAID drive that this unit can support is 2TB. So If you try to use RAID5 all you can use is three 1TB drives. Larger drives don't work. I have built about six of the 990FXA models and they have proved reliable and stable.

Cons: Limited RAID capability with TB drives.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Motherboard

Pros: Easy to work with, like any other ATX motherboard. I haven't had any issues with it yet so yay. Like others have stated, install the drivers and whatnot from the disc provided before you seek updated drivers (THIS IS A MUST).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I like how well this motherboard accommodates my extremely large heat sink unlike my previous motherboard. I might add that the heat sink was for an AM2+ cpu to boot.

5 out of 5 eggsgigabyte 990fx

Pros: very beautiful i like how the northbridge heatsink extends around the cpu socket. has very much room for graphics i wield a gigabyte 2 gv r72505 in an NZXT gamma case not a huge case but i could upgrade very easily the uefi bios was a very helpful modern upgrade that makes even bios a fun job! the instruction manual was very helpful any questions i had was answered in this packet and its FAST!

Cons: kinda pricey only being about 40 dollars short of the sabertooth but i got mine on sale so 130 did it for me other than that none i can think of

5 out of 5 eggsGIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3, my brother

Pros: Sturdy - I'm a bit clumsy so we went through a hassle to get this guy installed in the case with the Hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler. I few minor presses and twists lol, but the resistors and other components are clearly made to handle minor pressures.

Love the build quality.

The bios is nice and makes it easy to overclock/underclock the parts.

More features than I can hope to use.

Cons: Not sure if turning the SATA ports sideways on the motherboard was that good an idea, it made it a bit difficult for me to plug in the ports at first.

Although there are 4 PCI-Express ports, if you have a dual slot graphics card like my GTX 760, you wont have any space to use the nearby PCI-e ports.

Most importantly - When you turn on the system, it turns back off immediately for 3 seconds, then powers on again. I already spoke to GIGABYTE about this and they said it was normal (I was a bit worried).

Other Thoughts: By default (the 'Auto' setting), the motherboard sets my DDR 1866 memory to 1600Mhz, but there's an easy setting in the bios to adjust this back to 1866. The memory seems to be running at 1875Mhz tho.

Build:
AMD FX-8350
8GB DDR3 1866 (2x4GB, 1.5v)
EVGA 2GB Nvidia GTX 760
120GB Kingston HyperV SSD
COUGAR A-Series 760W Bronze PSU

and, well, this motherboad:

3 out of 5 eggsGood board, but can get hot. RMA stinks

Pros: Supports bulldozer, gbyte.

Cons: Like alot of people here, I had the NB on this mobo literally burn. Sent it to GBYTE, they said it was fine and sent back the same burnt board. Had to send again, luckily they paid this shipping this time, and they sent me a new one. No OC, in a well ventilated modular PSU Antec 900. Also no eufi bios.

3 out of 5 eggsvery touchy

Pros: amazing features, very fast, lots of room for expansion.

Cons: USB 3.0 drivers wont work, either from gigabyte or the driver CD, system would freeze. I had to disable USB 3.0 and not use the USB on board ports

3 out of 5 eggsNot a productive experience

Pros: Works very well.... when it works.

Cons: I bought this board back in the beginning of 2012, it lasted two months before the motherboard failed. It lasted for about a year and a half before the system began to BSOD with CRC errors. After running memtest on the system with various memory configurations, I found that some of the slots have failed. This seems to be a problem others have experienced.

For Windows Blue Screen of death, please check the following:

1. Check the CPU temperature in Bios to make sure it's within the CPU’s specification, normally it should be around 45-50C.

2. Run memory diagnostic test.

3. If there's add-on card(s), remove it/them from the board to eliminate others possibility.

4. Backup data, attempt to reinstall the operating system on to a spare hard disk drive to eliminate a bad hard disk drive possibility or Windows corruption issue.

2 out of 5 eggsMaybe?

Pros: I really want to like this board. It looks great, and in theory would overclock very well. I have revision 4 of this board, in a case with good airflow and temps are pretty low. The board looks and feels pretty solid.

Cons: I'm using a phenom ii x4 955 be rev c3 cpu with this board.
I've tried using said processor in 2 different motherboards and haven't had a bit of trouble. I'm having the same problem that apparently others have had where when you change the multiplier in bios, it only changes for 1 of the 4 cpu cores. I've tried everything I can think of a few times over now. Re flashed bios with previous and current bios. reinstalled os(win 7 64bit) a couple times, and even tried clean os with no additional software. Tried different chipset drivers, and even no chipset drivers.
I've had no luck with gigabyte "support tickets" so far. Every response is simply them asking how I know only one core is being changed, even after explaining numerous times various forms of confirmation including monitoring each cores productivity in multithreaded applications, and using cpuid, hwinfo64, and the list goes on and on.
In bios it shows that all four cores are changed but that is the only place that it shows. I've considered upgrading to an fx processor sooner that I had planned just to see if I still have the same issue, but again I have already verified that my current cpu doesn't have this issue in other motherboards.

Other Thoughts: I don't think being able to change the multiplier on an unlocked cpu is too much to ask of a 990fx based motherboard. If I can get this issue worked out I will happily rate this board 5 stars. Until then...
Its a real pain when you have issues with a motherboard. Out of all the hardware in a computer its the worst because you have to uninstall and reinstall everything to change it out. This makes an rma or sending it in for repair that much more trouble. I really hope someone can offer a solution to this, otherwise I suppose it's time to start shopping for an asus motherboard.
