108dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio Playback

GIGABYTE motherboards feature higher capability audio solutions with 108dB Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) playback quality to deliver high-performance, multi-channel HD audio. SNR is a comparison of the amount of signal to the amount of noise - such as hiss - present in the signal (expressed in Decibels). A higher SNR equals a better audio experience. For example, 108dB, is a high audio specification, as this means the audio signal is 108dB higher than the level of the noise.

1 out of 5 eggsTwo DOA boards in a row, no indication of why

Pros: wouldn't know... never got one working.

Cons: received two of these-- both times I received power to all the fans, but no post, no beeps, no bios, no nothing. And this board gives no indication of what the heck if the problem. I was convinced I must be using incompatible components or maybe the CPU was dead, but alas, I replaced it with an ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX and everything worked great. What's particularly nice about this new motherboard is it has LEDs next to all the components, and they light up if there's a problem. So if there had been a problem with my CPU, I would have gotten a red light.

I contacted gigabyte via email. they were not helpful.

Other Thoughts: All hail helpful red LEDs!! Boo to motherboards that arrive broken but also don't give you any confirmation that they're broken (or that everything else is fine)

1 out of 5 eggsDecent Board, Horrible Service

Pros: The board is great for its price. Good to get a PC started

Cons: Poor RMA process.

Other Thoughts: Once the motherboard began having issues I attempted to RMA it to Gigabyte which I was able to do. It took around 3 weeks for the RMA process which is about average from what I have come to expect. However, when I received the board back it was just as if I had just sent it off. The issue that the board had did not get resolved. All in all it was a sour experience that has made me think twice before buying another Gigabyte Motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggslike what I see

Pros: Looks great for my black and blue color scheme, easy to use bios, audio drivers come with Dolby home theater which is a very nice compliment for Pandora one, when adjusting ram speed in bios there was a profile to pull speeds and timing from ram which was nice for ease of use. It's a Gigabyte board which is my preferred mobo brand. :3

Cons: My only complaints are that my wifi card isn't seen in the pci port(haven't tried with pci-express ports yet but it worked fine with my old board). The usb 3.0 has noise making it so I can't put my usb headphones in those ports if I want audio, no issues in usb 2.0 though.

Other Thoughts: The normal cpu fan speed in the bios is a bit crazy 2800rpm when there was little to no load switched it to silent mode and now it's at a nice 1800-2100rpm.

I don't know if the bios has this but I know I can't find an area that says what's plugged into your pci lanes to see if it's windows 7 or the board not seeing my wifi card.

1 out of 5 eggsdoa bad board

Pros: seems well made but DOA

Cons: did all of :1. Be sure the CPU is supported by this motherboard, for CPU support list please go to the GIGABYTE website.

2. Check memory requirement and memory installation, be sure the memory is/are seated properly. You may test the board with a single stick to rule a single bad stick of memory.

3. Be sure the ATX 24-Pin and ATX 12V 4 or 8-Pin are plugged in firmly into the board.

4. Check for visible bent or broken pin(s) in the CPU itself (AMD CPU).

5. If you have an add-on video card installed, please check if the card requires additional powers 4, 6, or 8 Pin PCIE power.

6. Test the board on a non-conductive surface or test bench to rule out the grounding possibility.

7. Check monitor for video input selection, VGA, DVI, or HDMI.

8. Avoid using any video adapter or KVM switch.

9. Test with different video cable.

10. Clear the CMOS by taking out the CMOS battery from the battery socket, leave it out for 5 minutes and place it back after that (positive side faces up).

Other Thoughts: purchased months ago, sat until this week's new install- swapped out video card, psupply, memory, 2nd cpu- sent rma request to gigabyte today-hope I get timely response- spent 12hours over 3 days swapping stuff-

1 out of 5 eggsRandomly Shuts Down and Have to Unplug to Start Back Up

Pros: Supports the number of internal and external devices I need. Boots very fast hooked up with my new SSD. Seems very solid except for this issue.

Cons: Shuts down when I'm not looking at it. Power button doesn't work when this happens and have to unplug the power supply from the power strip to get power button to work again. Happened a couple of time s the first week. Upon restart there was a bios corruption error. I used the automated bios update, and it seemed to be stable for another week, but has shut down on three different occasions today. This time though, no bios corruption error.

Other Thoughts: I found similar issues from other owners, but they thought it was due to the sleep settings. I shut those off, but that has had no affect.
Some other forums recommended running all of the standard stress tests, which I've done with memtest and furmark, for a minimum of an hour each, and these have turned up nothing. Power supply should be more than sufficient. I've actually removed a couple of devices from this rebuild project. I was hoping to keep this MB, but looks like I need to go through the RMA process with Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsWouldn't buy if I were you...

Pros: Nothing you won't get with another 990fx board. Cheap with lots of ports on the back panel I guess.

Cons: Bought this board for a new system two years ago and quickly discovered that I couldn't do anything even moderately CPU intensive without my system rebooting unless I disabled hyper-threading on my FX8150 (now FX8350). Since then I've spent probably around a thousand dollars gradually upgrading and replacing every part of my system in attempt to fix the issue. That's not even counting the hours I've spent playing with drivers, bios settings, power profiles, over-volting, under-volting , researching the problem etc. Turns out it was this board. Maybe the later revisions have fixed it, they at least look like they've got better heat sinks, but if I were you I'd much rather spend fifty or one-hundred dollars more now than risk having to buy a brand new board later anyway. I probably won't buy Gigabyte hardware any more.

Other Thoughts: Note that I didn't over-volt, overclock, under-volt, or underclock anything until after the problems started. It came from the factory like this. After running some bench marks I discovered that I was losing approximately 30% of my system's potential performance by disabling hyper-threading, but that's what it took to actually make his board run like it should have to begin with.

5 out of 5 eggsRyan

Pros: Runs great out of box.

Be sure to install all drivers before trying to do stuff (wondered why Ethernet wasn't working...didn't install the driver)

One RAM profile change got my sticks running 2133 (Their stock) as soon as I installed, using an 8320E Vishera.

Crossfire running smoothly, lot of space between cards.

Cons: None thus far

Other Thoughts: NOTE: Unlike the pictures, the two PCI-E X16 lanes are slots 1 and 3, not 1 and 2. You will need a 4" Crossfire bridge if you run AMD cards, as the board already comes with a 4" SLI bridge.

Pros: Easy to set up
Friendly BIOS
Great reliabilty

Cons: Had the run around when dealing with their rebate department. Doesn't impact my rating of Gigabyte and their products.
