108dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio Playback

GIGABYTE motherboards feature higher capability audio solutions with 108dB Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) playback quality to deliver high-performance, multi-channel HD audio. SNR is a comparison of the amount of signal to the amount of noise - such as hiss - present in the signal (expressed in Decibels). A higher SNR equals a better audio experience. For example, 108dB, is a high audio specification, as this means the audio signal is 108dB higher than the level of the noise.

1 out of 5 eggsVRM is WAY, WAY too hot!!

Pros: None yet.

Cons: This board gets WAY, WAY, WAY too hot! It will overheat and shutdown! Read the articles about this board before you get it (ALL REVISIONS). I NEVER would have bought this board had I seen others comments first about the heat problems on the VRM... I am really ticked off about this one.

I'm hesitant to even leave a review yet until I get this resolved because it may get worse than this.

The UEFI bios is painfully slow.... Why even put a mouse in there if it's going to move 1 inch per 1 foot of physical mouse movement.

I'm very unhappy with this. Far too much time has been put into just trying to make this thing run, and thus far it DOES NOT PROPERLY!

Other Thoughts: Don't get this board unless you want to take a MAJOR chance that it's going to be TOTALLY USELESS. Read the articles about the VRM issues. It is NOT resolved with version 4 despite a lot of articles saying contrary!

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of dog doodoo

Pros: Board I ordered was doa, board I got after rma was doa. How can Newegg keep selling a board that has a history of being dead. I have purchased my last MOBO from Newegg. Got a nice refurbished MSI 990FXA-GD80 and it works wonderful. No more Gygabiyte for me.

Cons: What could be worse that have two MOBOs arrive dead when you are trying to assemble a new system. It just amazes me that these peices of dog doodoo are even being sold by anyone. Gygabyte has no credibility as far as I am concerned.

Other Thoughts: Newegg must be going down the tubes if you aren't even allowed to mention a competitor in reviews. I am disappointed but I will be doing my business elsewhere, a place that isn't afraid of its competition.

Pros: Nice looking, durable design... I dropped it at 1st day and think it is damaged... lol 6 SATA3 are enough.

Cons: 1 pcie could be covered by graphic card, but you can use other PCI port.

3 out of 5 eggs**UPDATE**

Pros: Decent Board, affordable.

Cons: Bios Menu isn't that great if you've owned other higher end boards could take some getting used to.
Has issues recognizing SSD, can be resolved but the issues are present.
Be careful if you plan to put 4 sticks of RAM in this, I've had nothing but trouble with this board since i added another 2 sticks. Yes they are exactly the same speeds & timings. Problems is that i cannot adjust them to get the speeds out of them that they are capable of without out getting a failed boot message. Previously an ASUS customer but thought i would give a new guy a try. Until now i haven't had an issues BUT its enough for me to want to go back and just stick with what i know. 800mhz doesnt cut it when you paid for 2400MHZ.

Other Thoughts: Waiting for a response from Gigabyte support as online forums have got me no where. will update with reply and end result.

5 out of 5 eggsNice MOBO

Pros: Lots of PCI Slots, Sturdy build quality, 4 Fan headers, Nice Onboard Sound, Nice OC options, USB 3, 4 RAM banks.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I've got this board running a 6350 FX OCed to 4.42GHz (I had to up the voltage to 1.52) and it's very nice. Running Windows 7 with 2 SSDs @ 6gbs and everything seems really smooth. It's got an R9 AMD 270X video card, 2G memory and I think I'd rather have an Nvidia 960 because the AMD cards just have an annoying flicker when starting videos or games. Seems to be a common issue with these cards (Drivers and software control is just garbage it seems) but over all the MOBO seems very solid and runs nice and cool. Being it has 2 PCI X16 slots I will eventually add another 270X card in Crossfire. Also I like to mention the onboard sound is great, I did not expect that. Separate jacks for various options which I used one for a stand-alone woofer. The include Dolby software helps as well. Also not real sure about the Network control software, it doesn't really seem to help other than lag things out for me. It comes with a lot of nice software utilities, one of which to change your BIOS boot graphic which I really like doing. One minor issue is that I could not get an Aukey USB 3 PCI card to work but could be some sort of conflict or user error on my part which is not a big issue because it has 2 USB ports in back and a USB 3 board port for a front panel connector. Tons of USB 2 ports and headers. I did see an F3 BIOS update but have not installed it as I don't see a need for it, not sure if it even applies to me. Also I should say that I am using 4 different brands and speed of RAM sticks and all underclocked to around 1333 or so and it seems fine. I'm in no hurry to upgrade the RAM just yet but eventually I will to some nice 1866+ sticks I guess.

Over all this seems like a very nice motherboard. I most so small 3D models, some gaming and a lot of Photoshop and Illustrator work and it runs great!

If anyone has any tips for me please do share!

1 out of 5 eggsBad

Pros: Looked nice...the rma started off quickly, Newegg pays for shipping, waiting for a refund.

Cons: The rating system for this item is misleading. I didn't realize it had so many DOA's until mine arrived dead and I started digging into the reviews. It came in an open box, the manual says there should be 6 Sata cables, but they were missing and the board wasn't booting or making any sounds.

Other Thoughts: The graphic cards came in an open box too, but I can't even check if it's good. CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD that I ordered holds power but every other of its functions, meaning the lcd is broke. Got to love online shopping nowadays.
