5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget 1155 motherboard

Pros: This board is what it is, a budget solution for Sandy Bridge/Ivy Bridge processors. But for a budget board, it does have several nice features---all solid caps across the board, HDMI output in addition to DVI and VGA, gigabit LAN, PCIe 3.0 compatibility. Overall, a stable, solid budget motherboard for your kid's/father-in-law's/office computers.

Cons: Serious lack of fan headers. Guess budget means cuts somewhere, but come on! Fan headers aren't that darned expensive!

No SATA 6GB/s ports and no USB 3.0, and that last item is almost inexcusable these days.

Other Thoughts: To the "knowledgeable" gent who posted this: "I have two of these boards both with an I5-2380P processor. On both of these boards I cannot get VGA, DVI or DHMI output to work. If anyone has a solution please post in a review here."

Here's your solution......the i5-2380P processor has NO INTEGRATED GRAPHICS! DUH! You should have purchased an i5-2320 instead. Out of all the cpus that fit socket 1155, you stupidly picked one of the three that don't include integrated graphics in the cpu.

And as you probably found out, the graphics on these chipsets are in the cpu, not the motherboard. Consequently, if you use one of the three cpus without graphics built in, you won't have video output from the onboard video outputs....at all....ever....never.

Learn to read.......and mark your tech level down three notches for sheer ignorance.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent budget board

Pros: Nice design and quality
Excellent budget expandability
Dual Bios
Bios support for Ivy Bridge (newest bios on Gigabyte.com)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Build went very well and all features worked well. Very pleased with Gigabyte quality and layout. Excellent budget board with lots of expandibility - not state of the art expandibility but thats not what this board is for.

4 out of 5 eggsDoh

Pros: Easy setup, no defects or other problems. Solid board for the price.

Cons: No RAID support. My fault for picking this board without double checking, but it's been so long since I've seen a board without RAID 0 or 1 support that it didn't even occur to me to look. I'm a little surprised it doesn't have such a basic feature.

Fortunately, it's just being used in a backup file server, so a software solution will be fine, or I might look for an add-in RAID controller.

Other Thoughts: Tried the Windows 8 preview on it just for fun, but there are no working drivers for it. I'll be putting Linux on it as the real OS soon.

5 out of 5 eggsNice budget board.

Pros: Nice component layout on the board, 3 video outputs for on-CPU graphics. Fairly painless driver installation (save for one).

Cons: If you're using Windows XP, which most people will not be (my customer can't afford Win7), the VIA driver for the VT2021 audio chip will not work easily. I spent about 20 minutes going through the folders for a regular x86 driver with no joy. After a bit of research I found that the VT2021 uses some part of a Realtek audio instruction set. Downloaded the Realtek "High Definition Audio Codec" for XP and it works great.

Other Thoughts: The Gigabyte website will list an audio driver for this board if you select Win XP, but it's probably best if you go to Realtek's website and download the same file I did. Again, minor gripe as most people will not be using XP any longer.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Motherboard

Pros: Booted right up. It's perfect for a budget computer.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This MB is pretty basic and doesn't have a lot of features but it's perfect for what I needed. Just make sure you do your research before buying.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: Good clean and simple board.

Cons: I tried powering up a few times and couldn't get it to go. However, figured out that you need both the 24 pin power connection and the 4 pin to power up completely (which are on oppposite ends of the board). Works great from there.

Other Thoughts: Good for any workstation for an office atmostphere for high data entry.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdated review

Pros: I wrote the review complaining about the lack of video output. I don't know how to delete that review, but here is a correction.

I bought an I5 CPU that had no graphics processor by mistake. I didn't know at the time there were CPUs without graphics processors. Sorry to ding this board for my mistake. Sorry Gigabyte.

Cons: Only one case fan connection.

3 out of 5 eggsProblems with on board video

Pros: Meduim feature board with only one case fan connection

Cons: I have two of these boards both with an I5-2380P processor. On both of these boards I cannot get VGA, DVI or DHMI output to work. I have tried different RAM. I can add a old PCI video card and the system recognises this card and displays video and seems to be working fine. I have tried every BIOS option I can find, but still not video out from on board ports. If anyone has a solution please post in a review here.
