1 out of 5 eggsno help from Gigabyte

Pros: good if they work

Cons: Took this out of the box a week ago. Keeps shutting down, all the reviews say so so there must be a known problem with them. Was a month or so out of warranty and gigabyte said to bad nothing we can do.

Other Thoughts: Verry poor when it came out of the box defective with a known problem and Gigabyte would do nothing. No more gigabyte for this shop

Manufacturer Response:

2. Run memory diagnostic test.

3. If there's add-on card(s), remove it/them from the board to eliminate others possibility.

4. Backup data, attempt to reinstall the operating system on to a spare hard disk drive to eliminate a bad hard disk drive possibility or Windows corruption issue.

1 out of 5 eggsManufacturer bent board

Pros: Price with the solid capacitors and two 6 GBs sata connections.

Cons: The packing material was not damaged. Received with a bent corner causing the PS/2 and USB ports to not line up correctly.

Other Thoughts: Received on a cold day so I kept it in the brown box for a couple of days so it would slowly warm up. Now I only have 6 days to finish the PC. I don't want a board with a defect.

3 out of 5 eggsMove on...... took a chance..... failed.

Pros: Atx, 2 PCIe slots. Price. I took a risk on the possibility of running Hackintosh. Haven't installed it yet. Over clock pretty easily using a i5-3570K. BIOS graphics are nice.

Cons: Manual is complete garbage. Nothing is labeled well on the board. Couldn't tell the difference between SATA3 and SATA6. I didn't know this wasn't an award bios, but this bios isn't bad. No drivers CD. Did come with 2 SATA cables and a back plate. That is it. Better hope you have a 2nd PC or some way of loading drivers. May or may not support NVidia SLI.

Also, trying to get the system to boot with the external graphics card was a bit of a PITA. Finding the option and knowing it would do what I want cost me time booting.

Other Thoughts: Debating on sending this back. I am not happy with it. I would have given it a lower egg score if it continued to give me fits. I would have given it another egg if it included more extra's. Hardware, driver CD, etc... etc....

3 out of 5 eggsVery nice board, but driver support is awful.

Pros: The UEFI and the 3D bios are fantastic. Upgraded from an Asus P5E and I love it. Supports a good range of RAM and CPUs and overclocking is pretty easy to do as long as you take is slow. It's great "budget board" if you have an aging PC and want to use an i5 or i7 chip.

Cons: Installing the drivers for this board was a complete headache. Some installers didn't work with my version of windows (Win 7 64), namely the autorun on the CD. If Gigabyte had just shipped discs with software that specifically worked with my board, I wouldn't have docked two eggs, but I just can't let this slide. The only advice I can give to you system builders out there is to make sure you install the Atheros Ethernet drivers first. That way, you can at least download the proper drivers you need. Never had this problem with any other board that I've worked with. Especially ASUS boards.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for something a bit more top-of-the-line, look elsewhere. As I said before, I had some trouble installing drivers for this board. I was feeling lazy and decided to see if Easy Tuner 6 could overclock the board for me and I ended up with a corrupted boot sector and am forced to reinstall Vista with an upgrade to 7. If you do any overclocking with this board at all, be sure to to do it the slow and steady way and not the quick and dirty way like I did. Take your time, find the board's limits and for the love of gigahertz, don't use Easy Tuner 6. It's still a very good board, but you'll be scratching your head and referring to the manual when you're trying to figure which driver set to install, especially if you're running a 64-bit OS.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Supposed to be a top quality board.

Cons: DOA. Wouldn't even POST.

Other Thoughts: After spending days trying to get this thing to post, I finally took it to a local repair shop. They said the memory connectors on the motherboard were bad and the motherboard would need to be replaced. I will not buy another Gigabyte board. I replaced this with an Asus board and everything is running great now.

5 out of 5 eggsCost effective DIY mobo

Pros: UEFI makes fine tuning of computer hardware settings a joy, and allows an individual who has done their research to tweak and overclock without necessarily knowing their individual mainboard's BIOS so well. Great for advanced hobbyists. Dual BIOS is a super nice feature that adds a layer of security when something goes wrong. Good feature set, super easy to update firmware.
Unusual shape profile (shorter than usual front-to-back length) MAY in some cases improve your ability to neatly route power cables at the expense of physical stability.

Cons: As others have said, this ATX motherboard is a little short from front to back, which causes it to miss the third row of standoffs in a standard case. This does make installation of RAM a challenge if your hands were surgically replaced with sledgehammers.

Other Thoughts: I've upgraded and repaired lots and lots of computers in the past, but this motherboard formed the heart of my first ground-up home-built PC and the experience was wonderful. I purchased it over a year and a half ago and have not experienced any problems that didn't relate to my low-quality power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks out of Box

Pros: Replaced a NEW MSI board, I tried two others (New),I had strange random problems. Out of the box, all the same equipment off the MSI: CPU, PSU, GPU,Ram, HDD, DVD. Plugged it in and booted, added drivers Stable, Stable, Stable...

Cons: Not Free!

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte and Asus are the only really stable boards out there for me. It just works!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for hackintosh

Pros: Relatively easy OS X Mountain Lion installation (only needed to tweak 1-2 BIOS settings and it installed just as smoothly as Windows). Works perfectly well; no issues. It's compact (fits with plenty of room in my slightly-smaller mid case. Probably would fit in some ATX-mini cases as well). 6 USB ports, 4 memory slots. Overall, great for a budget hackintosh build.

Cons: It's definitely a "budget" motherboard, and you could get a better one for more. There are also probably better budget choices, but for me this was the better option because it works better with hackintosh. Also: doesn't have build-in wifi. Not a huge con, but a small nuisance with needing to buy a separate card. The card I bought worked flawlessly with it though. Overall, no real cons for me.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Worked with win 7 recognized it without any issues so far.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: When ordering make sure you check for the features that you need I missed one thing I needed on the MB and I have had to order a stand alone card to take the place of the missing output.
