4 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Great board to work with creating a hackintosh. You have to do some tips and tricks to get OpenGL working with the Intel 4000 HD graphics. Good support for Ram, Onboard MSata, USB 3.0 works good, and great support for SSD with having 6.0 Sata.

Cons: Front panel buzzes with audio. Use the back ports, or buy an external audio card. I use a Focusrite 2i2 for a small project studio, and that work fine.

Other Thoughts: I like this board, and I recommend it with an i7 Quad CPU from Intel. Fill it full of ram, and run a SSD HD for apps, and USB 3.0 for permanent storage, and you'll have a great production Personal Computer.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a good experience

Pros: Well the motherboard made installing a hackintosh relatively simple. When it worked it was fast and was fairly consistent.

Cons: The audio card on this motherboard completely died on me within the first month. No big deal, I bought an external audio card that worked fine. Then the motherboard randomly stopped POSTing after a year or so of use and now I am in a very difficult situation because I cannot access a lot of vital data on my computer.

I have built computers for years and have a very high technical knowledge so this is not just some user error, the computer booted up and posted for me one the first time when building it, since that day I have not changed a single setting in the BIOS aside from the boot order. For this motherboard to fail like this is 100% unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: I had an issue with another Gigabyte board and was hesitant to buy this one. But because Gigabyte boards seem to work the best with Hackintoshes and because my friend's board worked perfectly I went with them, and they let me down, yet again.

I am not at all pleased and am extremely hesitant to purchase another one of their products. Poor and inconsistent build quality is the name of the game for Gigabyte.

2 out of 5 eggsmother board

Pros: Good looking board, but I would rather have one that's reliable. A lot of time goes into putting a system together to have it fail.

Cons: Worked of for two days, Now can't get into the bios.i will get something else.

Manufacturer Response:

Are you able to get into Bios by using the minimum hardware components: motherboard, CPU, onboard graphics, and 1 stick of memory module?

1 out of 5 eggsWill not work with High Point 2640x1 SAS card.

Pros: Overclocking seems to work good.

Cons: Will not support booting from the SAS card unless you press a key to "mount" the bootable media.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this card after the Z77x version would not support the card and now this Z77 card will not either. The older Z68 board would plug-and-play wonderful with the card and was on High Point's list of compatible boards but you cannot buy them anymore, although I think the auction sites would have older boards still for sale. I may try that since the poor overclocking of the z68 boards does not matter so much to me.

I do this for a living and it is taking way too much client time to deal with this and not be able to bill the client for all of this stupid research time.

1 out of 5 eggsno help from Gigabyte

Pros: good if they work

Cons: Took this out of the box a week ago. Keeps shutting down, all the reviews say so so there must be a known problem with them. Was a month or so out of warranty and gigabyte said to bad nothing we can do.

Other Thoughts: Verry poor when it came out of the box defective with a known problem and Gigabyte would do nothing. No more gigabyte for this shop

We do offer 3 years of manufacturer's warranty.

1. Check the CPU temperature in Bios to make sure it's within the CPU’s specification, normally it should be around 45-50C.

2. Run memory diagnostic test.

3. If there's add-on card(s), remove it/them from the board to eliminate others possibility.

4. Backup data, attempt to reinstall the operating system on to a spare hard disk drive to eliminate a bad hard disk drive possibility or Windows corruption issue.

1 out of 5 eggsManufacturer bent board

Pros: Price with the solid capacitors and two 6 GBs sata connections.

Cons: The packing material was not damaged. Received with a bent corner causing the PS/2 and USB ports to not line up correctly.

Other Thoughts: Received on a cold day so I kept it in the brown box for a couple of days so it would slowly warm up. Now I only have 6 days to finish the PC. I don't want a board with a defect.

3 out of 5 eggsMove on...... took a chance..... failed.

Pros: Atx, 2 PCIe slots. Price. I took a risk on the possibility of running Hackintosh. Haven't installed it yet. Over clock pretty easily using a i5-3570K. BIOS graphics are nice.

Cons: Manual is complete garbage. Nothing is labeled well on the board. Couldn't tell the difference between SATA3 and SATA6. I didn't know this wasn't an award bios, but this bios isn't bad. No drivers CD. Did come with 2 SATA cables and a back plate. That is it. Better hope you have a 2nd PC or some way of loading drivers. May or may not support NVidia SLI.

Also, trying to get the system to boot with the external graphics card was a bit of a PITA. Finding the option and knowing it would do what I want cost me time booting.

Other Thoughts: Debating on sending this back. I am not happy with it. I would have given it a lower egg score if it continued to give me fits. I would have given it another egg if it included more extra's. Hardware, driver CD, etc... etc....

3 out of 5 eggsVery nice board, but driver support is awful.

Pros: The UEFI and the 3D bios are fantastic. Upgraded from an Asus P5E and I love it. Supports a good range of RAM and CPUs and overclocking is pretty easy to do as long as you take is slow. It's great "budget board" if you have an aging PC and want to use an i5 or i7 chip.

Cons: Installing the drivers for this board was a complete headache. Some installers didn't work with my version of windows (Win 7 64), namely the autorun on the CD. If Gigabyte had just shipped discs with software that specifically worked with my board, I wouldn't have docked two eggs, but I just can't let this slide. The only advice I can give to you system builders out there is to make sure you install the Atheros Ethernet drivers first. That way, you can at least download the proper drivers you need. Never had this problem with any other board that I've worked with. Especially ASUS boards.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for something a bit more top-of-the-line, look elsewhere. As I said before, I had some trouble installing drivers for this board. I was feeling lazy and decided to see if Easy Tuner 6 could overclock the board for me and I ended up with a corrupted boot sector and am forced to reinstall Vista with an upgrade to 7. If you do any overclocking with this board at all, be sure to to do it the slow and steady way and not the quick and dirty way like I did. Take your time, find the board's limits and for the love of gigahertz, don't use Easy Tuner 6. It's still a very good board, but you'll be scratching your head and referring to the manual when you're trying to figure which driver set to install, especially if you're running a 64-bit OS.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Supposed to be a top quality board.

Cons: DOA. Wouldn't even POST.

Other Thoughts: After spending days trying to get this thing to post, I finally took it to a local repair shop. They said the memory connectors on the motherboard were bad and the motherboard would need to be replaced. I will not buy another Gigabyte board. I replaced this with an Asus board and everything is running great now.
