1 out of 5 eggsHorrible support

Pros: The board itself functions great. The built in audio, form factor, and features are great.

Cons: Gigabyte support is terrible. I've been having issues with the PCIe 3.0 slot not being able to recognize my GPU when it's set to 3.0 mode. I've been through 2 boards and 3 GPUs, and none of them will work properly. If I set the slot to 2.0, it will boot. Setting the slot to "auto" or "gen3" will default it to the integrated graphics.

To add insult to injury, the support experience is terrible. The exchange with the support technician(s) is laughable, with there seemingly only be 5 responses to choose from:
1. Change the PSU
2. We've tested the board with a Radeon 7870 and it works
3. Set the BIOS to init PEG first
4. Update the BIOS
5. RMA the board

In my exchange with support, I've received each of these responses at least twice, despite very detailed documentation of the steps I provided on how I've been trying to troubleshoot this issue. It almost looks like the support person answering these questions isn't even reading any of my responses. I've even gone out of my way to get a second board to test with and getting the same results.

Other Thoughts: If Gigabyte can address the problems with their support staff and actually read what their customers are telling them, I would be more satisfied with this purchase. I would also appreciate more intelligent responses to questions, instead of something that is copied and pasted from a manual.

I've found other users with similar issues on this board, and the only "solution" I've been able to come across is buying a Gigabyte branded Radeon 7870.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, could have been 5 eggs

Pros: 3 months in, and this has been a great uATX board with my Core i7-3770. Very solid in Win7-64; I can go weeks between reboots. Intel NIC gives great network performance. Color scheme grabs your attention; you'll either love it or hate it. I would have preferred a red/black color scheme, but this isn't bad. And I received the mail-in-rebate.

Cons: As clearly mentioned in the Newegg pictures, video, and several other reviews, the 2nd PCI Express 3.0 slot that you would use for Crossfire or SLI is the slot at the end of the board. This makes no sense for a board marketed towards uATX gaming. There is no shortage of ATX Z77 gaming boards, but if you specifically want uATX smaller form factor for gaming, you'll have a uATX case with room for exactly 4 slots. Any medium to high performance graphics card is going to be 2 slots wide, so uATX Crossfire or SLI is pointless with this motherboard. If they had simply moved it one slot in, this would be a 5 egg board for uATX gaming.

Other Thoughts: This is my first Gigabyte board since '486 days. I've become disappointed in the premature deaths of other brands of motherboards, and I'm glad I gave Gigabyte a shot with this board. After upgrading to the latest beta BIOS, I'm missing the boot-up picture of the flaming skull guy. Hopefully he will be restored once they release an official BIOS. The poster and stickers are pointless, IMHO. I would have rather saved $1 or $2 without them. I haven't tried the integrated audio; I'm using the HDMI audio from my AMD graphics card.

1 out of 5 eggsGigabyte Tech Support Nightmare

Pros: Great specs for the board

Cons: Heaven help you if you have an issue.

Other Thoughts: The board arrived DOA. My fault for waiting more than 30 days to buy the processor...I couldn't just return it to Newegg (who are superb in dealing with RMAs). I contacted Gigabyte, who made me pay the shipping costs to ship their own DOA board back to them. Two weeks later, I get the board back (it had a bad chip that Gigabyte repaired). Now it just power cycles.

Tech Support for Gigabyte had me pull the whole board back out (again) and test ram in each slot. Still no joy. Then I had to remove the heat sink and processor and photograph the processor bed. Tech support seemed to imply I had bent the pins. I told them "This is how the board came back to me...I know how to insert a processor. I did it fine the first time, and now there's an issue? Only people who have had their hands on it since it left my possession is you guys...and you didn't find any bent pins the first time, right?"

So now I'm dealing with a engineer who's trying to "assess" from pictures if the pins are bent or not. Please.

Just replace the board already.

If you buy a Gigabyte product, pray it works right out of the box and that you never need their help.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your comments. Honest and constructive opinions are always welcome. We apologize for your difficulty with your Gigabyte product.

Your described rebot issue may occur for serveral reasons:

1. be sure to connect both the 24pin power and the ATX12V power cables.
2. your BIOS settings may be too aggressive. Please try using the Optimized default values or clear CMOS values.
3. Power supply issue - be sure the wattage of our PS is adequate to support your installed components
4. Memory issue - try 1x memory module as a test.

If you require further assistance, please contact us at with the case number xxxxxx. Include your complete system configuration.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply. Awesome.

Pros: SATA 6Gbs with a SATA 6Gbs ssd hard drive. Wow, this thing flies. Popped in a 3570k and off she goes. Thing is faster than I can type. 5 seconds to windows splash screen. Inernal graphics are above average and look great running two monitors. Still waiting on AMD card....

Cons: Ummm... the "3d" bios is kind of weird. I like the old school bios. Just have to get use to it.

Other Thoughts: Coming from a q6600 and a budget board with 3.0 Gps transfer and old school hard drives, this thing is beyond my expectations. Glad I waited for this upgrade.

1 out of 5 eggsupdate on purchase

Pros: This is an update to my previous review.

Cons: well, the problem was never fixed, and has only gotten worse. now, the board refuses to boot at all, even with 2 different power supplies and 3 know working sticks of ram. it will occasionally boot, but it is really a 1 in 5 chance whether or not it will even power on.....very disappointing.

Other Thoughts: It has been too long to send the board in for an now im stuck with a bad board. just freakin great.......

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the money

Pros: Installed right out of the box with no problems.
Downloaded latest drivers from Gigabyte web site with no problems.
Can handle two graphics cards in SLI - although I am only using one at this time.
If you only need a board that can handle one or two graphics cards this is a good board to get.
Product seems mature and with the updated Gigabyte drivers from the web site I have had no issues.
Has a USB3 connector on the motherboard so you don't have to run a line out the back of the case to an output.
There was a rebate on this board when I bought it and Gigabyte honored the rebate without problems.
Board fits in a standard sized case with room left over.
Onboard sound is very good. No need for a sound card.

Cons: None really. You can always ask for more but for the price this board performs pretty good.

Other Thoughts: To save a buck I used the i5 on chip (4000) graphics for a while. Although this handles some games it does not handle streaming video at all. Wound up putting in a Gigabyte 660 OC card that took care of that problem. System seems to run solid now.
I set up a Sniper 3 system also and although the Sniper 3 has many additional features the M3 does not have (WiFi, bluetooth) it also had many setup problems. If you don't need a system that can run 3 or 4 graphics cards, or the extra features, save the money and get this little gem. If you do need a board that can run more than 2 graphics cards the Sniper 3 runs fairly well WITH the latest driver downloads. The driver disk that comes with the Sniper 3 will probably be problematic and cause lots of headaches so don't forget to update the drivers as soon as you set it up.

4 out of 5 eggsProbably best board I owned

Pros: 1. Features are unbelievable
2. Nice design
3. O'c like a charm (3570k at 4.6)

Cons: 1. SLI/Xfire approved, but only one PCI is faster than the other.

Other Thoughts: 1. Bought it on drop day so it was almost 2x more expensive than this posted price (-.-)
2. I bumped my PSU in a harsh way and the MOBO; I mean everything got SHOCKED! ><;;; My fault.
