1 out of 5 eggsWorst board I've ever had

Pros: Had all the ports and features in a low cost board I was looking for

Cons: Never really worked...I was replacing Motherboard, CPU and Memory in my current computer. With my current PSU which works fine on my other board the board would power on for around a second then shut off, more like a blink of power then nothing. So I figured it was my PSU. Got a new one, the new PSU wouldnt power the board at all unless I jumped PS_ON and Common pins. So i tried a third lower watt power supply which powered the board fine. I RMA'd the PSU and got a new one. New one did the same thing...So I RMA'd the board because it didnt seem to play well with higher watt PSU's. The board came, exact same symptoms. All 3 PSU's i tried work fine on 2 other boards, only 1 PSU (a 400W PSU) worked on this board. I contacted Gigabyte 3-4 times which gave me the normal responses of, breadboard it, try without PS4 plug etc, which I had already done. Finally I got one tech on the phone that said it must be something with that model and to send it back to the store and get a different board. I contacted Newegg with these recommendations and because it was beyond the return period they had to contact Gigabyte. They did finally give me a refund and I ordered an ASUS. Received the ASUS last night, put it in with all the same hardware as my original build and bam, works fine. Tried it with the new PSU, works fine on that was well. I actually got it loaded last night and am using it to write this review.

The only thing I could find was that the 400W PSU was putting out 4.4V on the PS_ON pin where as the other two PSU's were putting out 5.1V It seems like this board couldnt handle grounding the 5.1V output from higher wattage PSU's.

Other Thoughts: If I could give negative stars I would. Lesson learned, never buy Gigabyte again...

Unable to power on the PC, please check the following:

1. Be sure both ATX 24-Pin and ATX12V 4 or 8-Pin are firmly connected into the board.

2. Check the chassis power switch to make sure it's connected to the "Power Switch" pins on the front panel header, please see user manual for the exact location of the power switch pins.

3. Power up the system by making contact the power switch pins with a paperclip.

4. Disconnect additional components or hardware to see if the system is able to power on with the minimum system configuration.

5. Test the motherboard on the test bench (outside of the computer case) to eliminate the ground issue.

6. Try another power outlet or bypass any battery backup system.

1 out of 5 eggsFirst GIGABYTE board

Pros: The board is blue?
I do like that it has 6 SATA ports but that's becoming standard with many boards.

Cons: Not really a con but I failed to notice it didn't have built in graphics.

The bigger problem is after only 3 months my CPU fan died and when I replaced it and turned the computer back on I get the beep code 1 long 3 short which is documented as a keyboard error. I tried multiple keyboards PS/2 and USB with the USB in different USB ports.

Only twice in the past hour and a half did it boot successfully once I used to check the BIOS settings and the other was booting to windows but windows had to restore since it failed to boot the other times and required a reboot.

The display only worked on the two successful boots every other time the screen was blank not even showing the POST information.

3 out of 5 eggsProblems from the start

Pros: 2 slots are handy, plenty of USB ports, contains what is needed and no more, tough motherboard
Definitely durable - very strong power surge took out lights in the house, knocked out the power supply, melted the power supply connector to the motherboard itself, but only damaged the connector. The motherboard still lives albeit needs a replaced connector - that kind of power surge would utterly destroy most boards.

Cons: Lousy BIOS that only detects some USB keyboards making management a gamble, GB's stock windows drivers are sub-par and often require reinstalling multiple times to get working, unusually slow startup speeds with the occasional minute hang at post.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy

Pros: didn't blow up yet

Cons: had weird four prong cpu power supply port. when I got past that, it would only load the motherboard screen half the time. regardless, would get stuck on the motherboard screen. returned the day after I got it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Board!

Pros: Easy set up
Lots of space for your needs
Tons of USBs if you have tons of USB's to hook up like myself
Cheap

Cons: Needs a few more fan 3 pin connections and to move ram slots slightly away from CPU. My CPU heatsink and fan are covering up a ram slot.

Other Thoughts: Very easy set up.
Great UI for BIOS.
Recommend for 1st time builders

5 out of 5 eggsgood budget board

Pros: Just a basic mobo. Works well, for my needs.

Cons: It was difficult to get the CPU fan on, but that's how most AMD mobos are.
Could use more PCIe slots, if you wanna run many cards. I'm not a fan of SLI or Crossfire x, so I don't care. But if you wanna run more than two cards this isn't good.

Other Thoughts: Good mobo. Others have more features, but this works for my needs.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board, seems solid, fast boot

Pros: Seems solid, no boot up issues (I had trouble with MSI and Intel boards)
Isn't picky with Ram sticks.
UEFI Bios is nice
Decent mid gamer motherboard
Plenty of room for aftermarket CPU cooler (EVO 212)

Cons: No USB 3.0, which seems odd vs other motherboards at this price point.
North and South bridge heatsinks are barely held on, because of weak spring clips. No problems though.

Other Thoughts: For a basic gamer like myself, it's a great board. I trust Gigabyte at this point. Of course I trusted other brands in the past 10 years that have failed quickly or simply didnt boot up (Asus / Intel / MSI) So far, so good.

AMD FX-6200 Non OC'd
Gigabyte 970A-DS3 motherboard
Corsair 1333 8GB
Asus GTX 660 Non OC'd
Cooler Master Evo 212 Push Pull
ThermalTake TR2430
Scythe Fan Controller, with Rosewill 120mm fans x4
