1 out of 5 eggsNo support from Gigabyte

Pros: So far I have purchased 42 of these motherboards for business use, and in 41 cases my experience has been excellent. Solid, reliable, easy to install and set up.

Cons: However, it is that one case that has caused me to decide to never buy another Gigabyte product again. One failed after about six months use, no big deal, I swapped in different parts till I determined it was the motherboard. These things happen, nothing is perfect, so I boxed it up and returned it to Gigabyte. They returned it to me after 3 weeks claiming nothing was wrong. So I plugged it back in and it still didn't work. So I returned it again. Again 3 weeks later they return it saying they replaced a BIOS chip. Great, I think to myself, they finally fixed it! I plugged it back in and again it didn't work!

These are in use in a business, I can't have a computer down for six weeks! And it still wasn't fixed! So I bought new one from Newegg and installed it and bang, everything works perfectly.

If you buy a Gigabyte product, you have to understand that they have no service whatsoever. The warranty from them is meaningless. If it fails, you will need to buy a new one, sending it back to Gigabyte will get you no where.

Other Thoughts: I have several dozen more motherboards to buy, they wont be from Gigabyte, that I can assure you.

4 out of 5 eggsBIOS

Pros: Good motherboard for the price.

Cons: On 2 different computers had power outages and the BIOS resets its self creating AHCI mode to default back to IDE, which in turn causes the computer to not boot and be in a continuous reboot loop.

Pros: Like color scheme, good entry-level build. Nice for ice themed build. Good for every day tasks and light gaming.

Cons: Could live with more RAM slots.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Installed 24 of these today for Library, and one in my living room gaming system. By far the quickest setup I've ever done. Expansion slots are nice and smooth, no fighting at all.

Cons: The 3.0 SATA slots end up behind your gpu if you use any type of high performance card (mine being gtx 650ti). Just plug these in first instead of having to take it back out XD

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Good value, started right up with no issues, HDMI, SATA III (1), 4 memory slots, 4 PCI slots, USB 3, and was smaller in one direction than standard Micro ATX board (plus for my application). Liked the 2 supplied SATA cables with 90 degree connector on one end and a clip that snaps and holds the cable securely in the socket. According to manufacturer’s web site, compatible with a lot of Intel processors.

Cons: None really so far. As pointed out by others there is only one SATA III connection and this is parallel to the board, which can make plugging it in difficult in some cases. You might want to make this connection prior to installing the motherboard depending on how much room is in your case.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board to replace a board in a Dell Inspiron I5 that suffered a lightning strike through the Ethernet connection. The case is small so the smaller board size in one direction allowed easier connection of power connector and SATA III. I replaced the motherboard and memory, but re-used everything else.

I did spend some time on Gigabyte’s web site to check compatibility of the processor and also selected memory based on what was on the Qualified Vendor List. I did miss one thing though – the CPU power connector is an 8 pin connector – the power supply in the case only had a 4 pin. I did some checking online (everything is true there) and determined you could use the 4 pin connector in my application. If you have a high power consumption CPU or a graphics card without its own power connector, then you may need a power supply with the 8 pin connector. There is a 4 pin to 8 pin adapter, but this defeats part of the purpose behind having an 8 pin connector, that being to avoid overloading any one leg of the power supply. Put the 4 pin connector in pins 3, 4, 7, and 8 as shown on page 13 of the user manual (i.e. don’t use in the pins marked for “only 2X4-pin”). Would have been nice if this was better documented in the user manual or on Gigabyte’s web site.

After getting everything hooked up I turned on the power and it fired right up with no issues. The BIOS was relatively easy to navigate. I made a couple of changes in the BIOS, most notable the change of the SATA Mode Selection to ACHI (defaults to IDE). I then installed Windows 8.1 64 bit without a hitch. Several reboots were required as updates were installed. After completing the Windows install I checked the devices to see if there were any driver issues – none were present so I never used the drivers supplied with the board. Only use the drivers supplied with the board to get your internet connection working, then let Windows update the drivers, or pull from the device manufacturer’s web site.

4 out of 5 eggsA bit tricky

Pros: Worked great right off the bat, so far so good. The only problem I had was with the drivers for the eth. port. Internet would work with the drivers provided but totally cut off when trying to download the new drivers. When I arrived home from work today, I just DL'd them on my pc and burned them to a disc and transfered them over.

Cons: Drivers way outdated, however expected.

Other Thoughts: small gaming rig for the daughter, I am sure she will love it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: I have been using these boards in all my computer builds for my customers and have not had any problems with them. These are a great for worstations.

Cons: It would be great if the came with the parallel port to plug into the header on the motherboard so I don't forget to order one when I need it.

5 out of 5 eggsDuse the job

Pros: Got 2 of them for me and my girlfriends gaming rigs. We dont overclock so we did not need Z77 boards. This board has everything we need.

Cons: Only 1 sata 3 port could use 2 for an ssd and hdd, but Im not going to pay $30 more for a Z77
