Pros: Great looking board with plenty of room to install hardware.

Cons: Installed with two different 1200 watt PSU's and unit only flickers for half a second with no activity after. After researching on the net, it seems there's a secret list of compatible PSU's that only work with this board. (Which doesn't make any sense to me)

Other Thoughts: Just to be clear, I am sure their is no secret list of PSU's, just some weird anomaly where certain PSU's do not work with this board.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your comments. Honest and constructive opinions are always welcome. We apologize for your difficulty with your Gigabyte product.

There is NO secret list of PSU. It's probably a single case PSU issue. Please try a different PSU as a test. 5 out of 5 eggsGA77X-UP5 TH

Pros: This board has all the features one could ask for for both everyday computing as well as high end gaming features. I went from an Asus Maximus V to this board and could not be happier that I did. Gigabyte has put a lot of thought into this board and included features that put most boards to shame. If anyone asks me what board I would go with it is this one hands down.

Cons: To date I really cannot think of a con worth mentioning here. This is what I mean by this being such a superior motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsSupport Update

Pros: This is a follow-up to my previous 1-Star review. Again, the rich feature set is perfect for me, Im a power user (programmer) who doesnt game or do heavy or frequent video editing. i7, 32gb ram, fast ssd on sata3, usb3 thunderbolt for vid cap!!! excellent!!!

Cons: If this board was missing one thing, its not enough usb 2.0 headers. I needed 6-8 only got 4, NZXT IU01 Internal USB Expansion only solution is this space. Would have preferred all pcix16 slots and all sata 3 although not something I currently require, but woulda been nice.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte warranty access is horrible, that said, once I got everything filled out/approved, they preshipped my replacement fairly fast and new board works as I expect. 1 star removed for 1 defective board and not user friendly return interfaces, couldnt find a good support board. Otherwise this is a 5 star board IMO.

1 out of 5 eggsIf only Gigabyte answered my request

Pros: Let's wait and see.

Cons: My main reason to buy this motherboard, was that Gigabyte claims that it supports a connection of 3 monitors simultaneously, it even shows in the box and a graphic with 1 monitor connected to a VGA port OR a HDMI port and 1+1 connected to the two Thunderbolt ports.
Well I did just that, the system recognizes the 3 HP Pavilion 22bw monitors but can only display 2 monitors at the same time, no matter what combination I use.

My setup:
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z77X-UP5 TH (rev. 1.0)
Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics
2 x SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Seasonic SS-760XP2 ATX 12V/EPS 12V, 760W, 80 PLUS PLATINUM Full Modular certified Active PFC Power Supply
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9Q-32GXM

Sent a request to Gigabyte, got now answer. Just because of that I give only 1 egg. Shame on you for not supporting the products you sell.

Other Thoughts: None at the moment. I'll write another review if I ever get an answer from Gigabyte OR Neweeg.com

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your comments. Honest and constructive opinions are always welcome. We apologize for your difficulty with your Gigabyte product.

This model has been validated with 3x monitor output displays. You must use VGA or HDMI + DP1 + DP2. Your listed HP 22bw model monitor offers VGA/DVI/HDMI inputs. If you are only experiencing 2 monitor displays, the problem could be with your dongle converter to the DP (Display Port). Please try a different converter dongle. Further, you may not receive all 3x screen display during post, but only in Windows (after the Intel display driver loads).

If you require further assistance, please contact us at newegg-support@gigabyte-usa.com with the case number 2013042502. Include your complete system configuration.

1 out of 5 eggsGigabyte Support Nightmare

Pros: Awesome Feature Set

Cons: BIOS is horridly unstable, Im not even overclocking anything, just trying to setup VirtuMVP adn TPM useage, Bios will not post with these settings correctly enabled, bios corrupts after windows update WHAT THE HECK??? And the worst part of all, Gigabyte doesnt respond to support requests.......Now Im stuck with an unreturnable board that is either defective or just poorly designed/executed. I dont know how they can stay in business with out servicing their products, much less Im disappointed with Newegg for selling products from a supplier that engages in these types of practices. :-(

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your comments. Honest and constructive opinions are always welcome. We apologize for your difficulty with your Gigabyte product.

Our User Manual (in the appendix) has complete instructions for setting-up Lucid VirtuMVP. Please familarize yourself with the instructions. For using the TPM options, you must purchase the optional TPM module or a compatible TPM module before it will worki.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome board

Pros: Awesome board. Wi-Fi included, Thunderbolt ports, 8-phase PWM driving each of the 8 CPU Phases individually, 60A IR3550 power stage. XMP for the G.SKILL Trident X Series made setting the ram to 2400 almost instant

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: Built with quality and all around breath taking looks. Clocks the 3770k chips very good. Low heat. Very happy. I did research before purchasing the board so I have not run into any problems as of yet. Some people say they have problems with power supply compatibility but I have a corsair CMPSU-1200AX Gold and have yet to see any problems what so ever.
This is my 5th gigabyte build and not one of them has let me down.

4 out of 5 eggsPsu compatibility issues

Pros: Awesome features

Obviously dual thunderbolt is an excellent pro.

Very strict less fluctuating power delivery design
All the modern stuff ..EVEN supports windows xp ( although I haven't used xp in over 2 years now)

Cons: psu compatibility issues

I have been making a list ( and I'm still not done as of the making of this review) of others claiming some psu's work for the long haul...and others claiming other psu's don't work

See other thoughts for the list so far.

Other Thoughts: Psu's that DON'T work:
Corsair CX750
Corsair ax860i
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850M
Gigabyte Odin GT 1200W PSU

PSU'S that work:
SeaSonic Platinum 1000 psu
xfx and Seasonic psu's
Coolermaster M2 850W
COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Gold Series RS800-80GAD3-US
Pc Power And Cooling Silencer mk ii 950w PSU

Again if you have any of the psu's that DONT' work in my list and you own this exact motherboard and you KNOW that your pc does work and works without any freezing, auto reboot, auto shut downs ..no problems...please post the full specs of your build to gigabyte in the forums or where gigabyte prefer so they can narrow down the possible problems or reasons why a particular psu does or doesn't work with this board in your build.

I want to purchase this board and I apologize for the review given I don't yet own it.

however, seeing how no one else that has purchased and is using this board has made a review with a list of "work or don't work" psu's involving this motherboard....I felt this review will help other's avoid potential rma or other expensive headaches

Gigabyte or whoever involved. I hope you all can figure out what's need to get this motherboard working with the " dont' work " list of psu's

I own the nzxt 1kwatt hale 90 single 12v 83 amp psu and play to buy this board from newegg asap.

I haven't yet encountered anyone on the net that has the exact or close to exact psu as i do that is currently running this board.

happy egg hunting! :)

1 out of 5 eggs2 bad memory slots on arrival

Pros: Looks like a great motherboard, too bad it was DOA

Cons: 2 of the 4 memory slots were bad. I would receive an error 51 from the onboard led.
I tried a different type of RAM, same exact error.
The RAM was installed correctly per the directions. I have 2 8gb sticks of 1600 ram. I got error 51 with slots 1 and 3. Same error with slots 2, and 4.
Placing the ram in slots 3, 4 worked, but not 1, 2.
When filling the other 2 slots with borrowed memory to fill up all 4, I got error 51.

Tried just 1 stick of both types RAM in slot 1 and then slot 2: got error 51 in both.

Sent the board back and waiting for a replacement.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your comments. Honest and constructive opinions are always welcome. We apologize for your difficulty with your Gigabyte product.
