1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: worked well until it dies, second time!

Cons: First MB died within one year, second MB witch was a returned, previously owned, died within six months. Paid $100, too much for the quality received

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MB

Pros: -lots of sata 3 ports, and some are at a 90 degree angle on the side of the board
- flagship chipset
-overclocks well

Cons: -power phases are a little small

Other Thoughts: It took me some time to figure out that to adjust the Vcore of the CPU what you gotta do is input the amount you want to ADD to the default Vcore, and not the amount you want it to run at.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking well for my needs

Pros: Three video outputs, full-sized ATX, able to run two full-sized PCIE cards, very reasonable price, and I like the black color.

Cons: The first one that I received apparently had an intermittent problem of shutting off by itself, but the replacement MB is working fine.

Other Thoughts: This model has been discontinued, but if the new model is similar to this one then it ought to be pretty good.

I chose this one for its many features, primarily those of my being able to run three monitors with an AMD A10 without the need for graphics cards, and its ability to be expanded with more cards if/when I want more monitors.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage!

Pros: * Looks Nice
* Onboard USB 3.0
* 8 SATA III Slots
* 4x Memory Slots Supporting up to 64GB DDR3
* Nice Drivers & Software Disk Provided with Board

Cons: * Issues with Bios
* Burnt Looking Spot on Board

From the first day i bought this board I had issues with it. At first it was trying to get it to display on my 17" CRT monitor which to this day still doesn't show up properly size wise on my monitor so I am unable to see the menu options. The board was brand new in the box but for some reason had a burnt blemish looking spot near the Bios chips. I was told by Gigabyte it shouldn't make any problems so i ignored it. The sad thing is I swear that my old socket 775 Gigabyte board performs better then this one which is sad being this one should blow it out of the water. I have the best possible CPU on this one which is the A10, 8GB DDR3 1600 CL9 Gaming Memory, 64GB SATA III SSD Master for OS, 2TB SATA II 7200RPM Slave for Games & backups, Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit, currently using the CPU for video which I was planning on buying a card later to use instead for better video performance.

Other Thoughts: I cant dog Gigabyte for one bad board as they have been pretty good to me over the years. I have had 2 bad boards from them out of maybe 8 boards I bought by them all of which were retail. I use to be a fan of Asus but then I swapped to BioStar & Gigabyte as they seam to offer much better memory expansion then most other company's with a lot more features. I am rather irritated though with this board as I had expected much better results from it then I ended up with. If the DDR2 800 CL8 I used with my old board which is a GA-P43-ES3G wasn't so expensive I would just go back to my Socket 775 & sell all this .... & never again buy any other CPU other then Intel which by choice is my preferred but I thought I would give this a shot. I wouldn't take another one of these boards if it was given to me free!

3 out of 5 eggsNice board, but not perfect

Pros: 8 SATA connections, 2 PCIe slots, 4 DIMM rails for up to 64GB installed.

Other Thoughts: Had to get a new board when my old CPU went south, so I selected this board to go with the AMD A8-5600 CPU I bought. First try with the Gigabyte boards as I've used Asus in the past, but didn't see any issues with the selection. Once the PC was put back together, I fired it up and tried to go into the BIOS to confirm everything was seen...but didn't get anything; the PC locked up. Thankfully I was still able to launch Win7. The CD that came with the board was the saver here, having the @BIOS utility for Windows. I was able to download an update (same version, actually), and keep from RMA'ing the board. The jury is still out, but I should be OK from here. Looks like the board is already out of production, too, as it's no longer available here at Newegg, which is why I took 2 eggs off instead of just one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat featureset

Pros: Everything you need for a 8 drive NAS board.

Cons: No usb3 header included
Purchased the recommended XMS3 memory according to the manual however the 1.65 didn't work so well without being forced to overclock to 1600. It would only auto detect at 1333.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: PCI-Express, USB 3.0, 3-D BIOS, lots of USB ports.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This Gigabyte board was purchased as part of an upgrade for my mother's computer four or five months back. The new board has been running without any problems since then. It is replacing the old motherboard which was an ECS i848P with a 3Ghz Northwood Pentium 4, 2 gigs of Corsair VS RAM, and ATI X1650 Pro 512MB, and still ran Win 7.

New Computer Specs.

1. Gigabyte GA-F2A85X-D3H Motherboard
2. AMD A10 5800K 3.8Ghz (Quad Core)
3. 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 DDR3
4. OCZ Agility 4 128GB SSD
5. Lite-On iHDS118 SATA DVD Drive
6. Antec NEO ECO 620C Power Supply

1 out of 5 eggsUpdating My Review

Pros: Nothing for HTPC useage

Cons: Here is the support history with Gigabyte support:

Answer - 1366285
Answer :
We have already double check with our team and all the FM2 motherboards does not
offer any Dolby license support

Answer - 1365997
Answer :
The board will need to offer the license in order to support 5.1 using digital
connection. That will applies to all board, if it offers the license then it will
offer it otherwise it will be the same.

Question :
So why is this advertised (implied) as a home theater PC board...that is false advertising...I will be returning these to newegg for replacement imediately and buying asus intel boards...thank you

Answer - 1365383
Answer :
Dear Customer,

Unfortunately there are no dolby license available for this board therefore it can
only support stereo

Question - 1365383
From :

Question :
This is second of these boards I have set up, however, this board is only allowing stereo over the hdmi and I have no option to pass through audio at all, what can I do,
Model Name : GA-F2A85X-D3H(rev. 1.0)
M/B Rev : 1.0
BIOS Ver : F3
Serial No. : 124640074035
Purchase Dealer : NEWEGG
VGA Brand : Model :
CPU Brand : AMD Model : A10-5800k Speed : 3.8gHz
Operation System : Win 7 64-bit SP : 1
Memory Brand : G.SKILL Type : DDR3
Memory Size : 16GB Speed : 1866mHz
Power Supply : 700 W

Other Thoughts: This board, though promoted and advertised as an entry level media or gaming board, falls drastically short in both categories

This board and integrated graphics does not even come close to being competitive in the Home Theater PC venue. And lets not even get into media servers, because they eat up way too much power and just don't perform well for a server for media at all.
To game, even at the lowest entry level, you need to install a real video card since the integrated graphics will not do the trick, even though Gigabyte clearly states differently.
