1 out of 5 eggsUpdate since last review

Pros: Unstable garbage like others have reported. No pros.

Cons: Board started going insane at the audio level with the worst kind of BSOD/driver freezing you could imagine. After dozens of hours wasted troubleshooting the only solution is to disable the onboard audio and use the HDMI audio from my video card. I'm afraid this board is going to kill all the components in it.

1 out of 5 eggsRandom Freezes

Pros: Fit everything i needed.

Cons: I have been getting random system freezes since I bought this board a year ago.

I have run memory tests and there are no issues with my memory. I have had multiple event logs saying that my USB ports haven't started when I boot up. There's also a CDROM event log that it hasn't booted properly (whatever that means). I had a blue screen within a week of buying the board, and since then I have had about 10 random freezes/lockups over a year, but not bluescreens. The mouse and keyboard lose power when the freeze happens, and one of my monitors (VGA in mobo) says it can't display the video mode right when if freezes. The only way to reboot is to hard reset the power, which I HATE doing.

My system stays cool, so that's not the issue.

It has been a headache and nightmare, because there's no trigger for when these happen. I can play games for hours (literally 8 hours) or days before the freeze happens again. I have also had freezes as the system sits on idle, no intense programs running. (which also makes me hint towards the motherboard being the issue)

All I want is a stable system that I can rely on, and I have reason to believe that it's because of the motherboard that I'm having these issues.

Other Thoughts: Don't ever buy anything when it's brand new on the market, always wait until there are tons of reviews on an item. I've learned my lesson with this mobo...

5 out of 5 eggsNo Issues Here

Pros: I've had this board a little over a year. I bought it when Haswell was fairly new. I may be running a different BIOS version than all of those complaining of the BSOD's, but I haven't experienced any of these issues. The stock BIOS provides plenty of configuration and overclockability.

Cons: No complaints.

1 out of 5 eggsCrashes constantly

Pros: none

Cons: Even with only 2 sticks of RAM, this motherboard is unstable. I get frequent BSODs on Windows 7, sometimes shortly after boot-up, sometimes when installing Windows updates, and often when the system is not under any load and is sitting at the desktop without any applications running.

I thought maybe my install was corrupt, so I tried reinstalling Windows, and I got a BSOD during the OS load. After 3 or 4 tries, I got Windows reloaded, but the instability remains.

I have tried all the common fixes such as clocking my 1600 MHz ram down to 1333, increasing its voltage, disabling the C3 and C6 states in the BIOS. This has not worked. I ran Memtest x86, and after 8 passes it did not detect and RAM errors.

Other Thoughts: I'm severely disappointed, as I have been very pleased with Gigabyte's products in the past. It seems that this board is a dud.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Just Fine

Pros: Works just fine. Easy to work with, easy to install, sleek-looking BIOS. I didn't discover Gigabyte's App Center and EasyTune until yesterday, despite having the board up and running since last Fall. I'm of the mind that when it comes to BIOS, if it works then leave it alone, but the BiosUpdate feature in AppCenter takes all the guesswork out of getting the right file from the support website. Upgraded to F6, and it went without a hitch. Also found a lot of driver updates available that I didn't know about.

Cons: None that I've found.

Other Thoughts: It's a good general use board that is up to the task for heavy duty use when you need it. I note the some of the reviews are pretty awful, and honestly had I read them before choosing a main board I would probably have passed on this one. I used it for my first build, and wanted to replicate for the most part the components in one of Carey Holzman's YouTube build videos (in case I ran into trouble, I could use his video as a reference). No issues putting it all together. The only point of note is that the BIOS defaults to 1333 for SDRAM, but the BIOS adjustment to 1600 is simple. It's been standing up to daily use for 8 months or so; we'll see in a couple years how it functions.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, but I need to get a new one.

Pros: + Nice and slick BIOS.
+ Lives up to the name of durability, I abused the absolute hell out of this thing when I first bought it and tried to add equipment to it.
+

Cons: - If you have a large GPU (like mine), it can get a bit troublesome to the PCIx1 that is below the PCIx16 port.

Other Thoughts: I like the board, so far. Unfortunately, it seems the CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT headers have stopped working and my CPU fan no longer functions.. and just shy of a year of having it. As of now I'm powering my CPU fan with a standard SYS_FAN port, and using SpeedFan to calibrate it. I'll probably be ordering another board soon, since I doubt I can RMA it (I bent a USB3.0 port pin).

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Board

Pros: None. The board has horrible BSOD problems with any memory or CPU configuration.

Cons: This board suffers from severe BSOD problems. I have tried multiple memory configurations and multiple CPUs. The board also fails to recognize drives on boot half of the time.

For Windows Blue Screen of death, please check the following:

1. Check the CPU temperature in Bios to make sure it's within the CPU’s specification, normally it should be around 45-50C.

2. Run memory diagnostic test.

3. If there's add-on card(s), remove it/them from the board to eliminate others possibility.

4. Backup data, attempt to reinstall the operating system on to a spare hard disk drive to eliminate a bad hard disk drive possibility or Windows corruption issue.

1 out of 5 eggsGA-Z87-D3HP

Pros: looks cool

Cons: MoBo fails to complete. There is no hope for running more than 1 stick of memory. I updated, rebooted, did everything the manufacturer instructed, still no function in the end. Built 15 or so computers, this is by far the worse build to date, all do to this key component.

1. Please carefully inspect the motherboard CPU socket for visible bent pins.

2. Test the board outside from the case to prevent grounding issue.

3. If possible, please test with another CPU to make sure it's not the memory controller issue.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: Absolutely none! One star is to high of a ranking for this board.

Cons: This is the most unstable board I have had the displeasure working on "seriously". I bought this board from a different store and have had nothing but problems. Very Unstable. BSOD almost daily. Wont boot properly...

I've changed Hard-drives, and different rams. Updated Bio's, nothing works.

Other Thoughts: Save your money and don't waste it on this board. This board is a nightmare. Jusat ordered another board from Newegg today to replace this hunk of junk.
