1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Board

Pros: None. The board has horrible BSOD problems with any memory or CPU configuration.

Cons: This board suffers from severe BSOD problems. I have tried multiple memory configurations and multiple CPUs. The board also fails to recognize drives on boot half of the time.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsGA-Z87-D3HP

Pros: looks cool

Cons: MoBo fails to complete. There is no hope for running more than 1 stick of memory. I updated, rebooted, did everything the manufacturer instructed, still no function in the end. Built 15 or so computers, this is by far the worse build to date, all do to this key component.

Manufacturer Response:

1. Please carefully inspect the motherboard CPU socket for visible bent pins.

2. Test the board outside from the case to prevent grounding issue.

3. If possible, please test with another CPU to make sure it's not the memory controller issue.

1 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: Absolutely none! One star is to high of a ranking for this board.

Cons: This is the most unstable board I have had the displeasure working on "seriously". I bought this board from a different store and have had nothing but problems. Very Unstable. BSOD almost daily. Wont boot properly...

I've changed Hard-drives, and different rams. Updated Bio's, nothing works.

Other Thoughts: Save your money and don't waste it on this board. This board is a nightmare. Jusat ordered another board from Newegg today to replace this hunk of junk.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing board

Pros: Paired with an i5-4670K, currently running 16gb of Gskill 1866mhz ram, this board baffled me in how amazing Gigabyte has become over the years. I avoided them for a long time, only sticking to the (ahem) A... brand mobos, until I got a great combo deal with the D3HP. Out of the box it felt 3x sturdier than a MUCH more expensive A brand motherboard I own. Give Gigabyte your money. They pack an insurmountable amount of features into their products that my previous favorite PC part manufacturer used to dream about.

Cons: Nope

Other Thoughts: It's all USB 3.0. More 6gb sata and USB 3.0 headers than boards twice the price. Can take your beefy heatsinks without scaring you to death thinking it's going to warp the PCB. Unless you are going for aesthetic design or color OVER performance and features, this is my vote for best Z87 board possible.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: BIOS is slick, F5 BIOS seems to be stable.

Cons: Installing AppCenter kept BSOD'ing my machine. I had to flash the BIOS to F5 to get it working. So, I had to install a utility from the disk to flash the BIOS that kept BSOD'ing my machine.....seriously I have no idea how this worked out in my favor. Took me a LOT of time and troubleshooting to get this to work correctly. Not worth the effort.

Other Thoughts: I kept getting BSODs when trying to install my Creative sound card also. I had to reimage my HDD a few times, also.

For Bluescreen of dead or BSOD issue, please check the following:

1. Check the CPU temperature in Bios to make sure it's under the CPU specification, normally it should be around 45-50C.

2. Run memory diagnostic test for all memory modules, one at a time to rule out any bad stick.

3. May attempt to reinstall OS in another drive to eliminate a chance of a bad drive or Windows corruption issue.

4. If there's add-on card(s), remove it/them from the board to eliminate others possibility.

1 out of 5 eggsGigabyte Z87-D3HP bad choice.

Pros: Nice looking Bios, very nice looking.

Cons: Bad bios firmware. Drive issues. Flashed to F5 still had probs.

Other Thoughts: I have had two of these both have had problems loosing drives. I sent the first back to newegg for the RMA. This one I have still is going to be returned for a refund. The board looks nice but that is as far as it goes. I was very excited to try out Haswell. Now with this issue I have come across I wish I stuck with my FX system. I know that the marks were not as high but I never encountered such problems. I know it could be just I had the lottery of bad boards as I have tried 3 different drives. And ruled that out. I pulled out the Pcb with the hotswap controller and ran the sata normal. But I still have the issues of drives disappearing, the worst is when im in a game or trying to turn on the com and check my email. I have to unplug the sata cables and plug them back in to have them seen. Both boards have caused me about 1 1/2 month of down time all together. I would highly suggest to steer clear of this one. I have gone thru the bios and checked my hotswap enablement and everything talked about on the other sites. I am truly sorry I bought this system and wish I had not. When you build a com you might come across a problem and that is the fun of the build working it out. But this hiccup is terrible and time consuming.

4 out of 5 eggsGood overall motherboard

Pros: Got the motherboard hooked everything up and everything worked flawlessly. No BSOD'S or anything unnatural. The motherboard works like a charm and nothing is wrong with it. Comes with 4 SATA data cables, which is nice for additional hard drives.

A great motherboard for the price

Cons: Only reason I knock off an egg is that it doesn't support SLI sadly. :(

1 out of 5 eggsNo.

Pros: OSX compatable.

Nice bios

Cons: Unstable, it causes audio stuttering, and BSODS. At first I thought it was my video card, then ram, the HDD. As I replaced those I realized it was infact the motherboard. I setup an RMA with gigabyte, but I fear I will just be sent back the same mobo 'repaired' and have the same issues.

I'm a poor college student, I dont have a lot of time or money, and I wish the problems would have started within the newegg return window so I could have gotten a refund. Alas, I am going to end up buying a new mobo, from ASRock or ASUS.

Im not ragging on Gigabyte, they seem like a good company, I just dont have the time to fumble with month long RMAs(I have attempted RMA's with them in the past and just ended up exchanging at the store instead).

3 out of 5 eggsRAM problem

Pros: Not sure yet, haven't got it working.

Cons: I have dual channel ram and right now can only get one stick to work in slot closest to CPU. I don't have it hooked up to a monitor just yet, will do that later today. When I put either single ram into slot closest to cpu it will post. If I put one single one anywhere else it is constant beeps. Both of the ram sticks work as an individual in the slot closest to CPU.

Other Thoughts: I like Gigabyte boards but this one has been a problem since I have had it.
