Aimed at professional gamers, the GIGABYTE GA-G1.Sniper mobo is packed with everything needed for building an uncompromising, high-performance gaming rig. It's based on the latest Intel Z87 chipset, and features a set of new and improved features to take full advantage the Intel 4th Gen Core processor in an LGA 1150 package. For the first time in the industry, this mobo allows you to change the onboard operational amplifier to customize and optimize your listening experience. And with loaded dual networking, maxed out multi-card gaming support, advanced cooling, and looks that could kill, the GIGABYTE G1-Killer motherboard is the ultimate choice for serious PC gamers.

  • newegg Dual Silent Fan/Water Thermal Design The GIGABYTE G1.Sniper 5 motherboard features an extreme heatsink design for the PWM area that allows users to employ both passive, active and water cooling setups. A stylish hollow body heatsink, fitted with a silent integrated fan, ensures superb heat dissipation during extreme performance and overclocked PC gaming configurations. Tube connectors at each end of the heatsink provide easy integration with any water-cooled system. These technologies help combat high temperatures by effectively removing heat from critical areas of the motherboard (such as the CPU VRM zone), allowing it to remain cool, even when the battle heats up.
  • newegg GIGABYTE AMP-UP Audio GIGABYTE G1-Killer motherboards are the world's first to feature an onboard OP-AMP socket, allowing enthusiasts to swap out the motherboard's onboard operational amplifier (OP-AMP) and explore personal audio preferences using a range of nuanced OP-AMPs. GIGABYTE G1-Killer motherboards feature an amplifier upgrade kit that includes a pair of specialized Operational Amplifiers and an IC Extractor. Additional amplifiers can be purchased separately to further expand audio capabilities.
  • newegg GIGABYTE Exclusive Ultra Durable Technologies GIGABYTE 8 Series motherboards integrate the absolute best quality solid state capacitors that are rated to perform at maximum efficiency for extended periods, even in extreme performance configurations. This provides peace of mind for end users who want to push their system hard, yet demand absolute reliability and stability. With ultra-low ESR – no matter how high the CPU loading – these capacitors come in customized jet black exclusively on GIGABYTE 8 series motherboards. ("Rated for an unprecedented 10,000 hours of intensive operation at an incredible 105°C" – Nippon Chemi-Con)
  • newegg Gold-Plated CPU Socket GIGABYTE 8 Series motherboards come equipped with a gold-plated CPU socket. Enthusiasts can enjoy absolute reliability and longevity for the CPU socket over time, without having any concerns about corroded pins and bad contacts.
  • newegg 2x Copper PCB GIGABYTE's exclusive 2X Copper PCBs design provides sufficient power trace paths between components. It handles greater-than-normal power loads and removes heat from the critical CPU power delivery area. This is essential to ensure the motherboard is able to handle the increased power loading that is necessary when overclocking.
  • newegg Extreme Multi-GPU Configurations Featuring the latest PCIe Gen 3.0 support, the GIGABYTE G1.Sniper 5 motherboard is built to handle up to four discrete graphics cards, delivering the absolute maximum framerates at the very highest screen resolutions. The GIGABYTE G1.Sniper 5 supports both 4-Way Crossfire and 4-Way SLI, allowing gamers to see more clearly, aim better, and experience immersive 3D games more realistically than ever before.

2 out of 5 eggsWhat worked was awesome.

Pros: Nice bios
Had no problems working with my older parts and any other upgrades I bought later.

Cons: One of the LAN connections failed after about 4 months.
Audio ports stopped working after about 5 months.
Contacted gigabyte customer service and sent the mobo away for repairs.
Received it back after a little over a month with nothing fixed.

Other Thoughts: This "review" is too late but I always meant to speak my mind about it.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Perfect for gaming. User friendly BIOS.

Cons: Died in less than 2 years. It just died and took my processor with it

Other Thoughts: I can't recommend this board. It's caused me a lot of grief.

5 out of 5 eggsBest z87 board for your money.

Pros: where to start? awesome back lit LEDs, quad SLI (if u want it) built in water cooling on the north bridge which works very well. Overclocks well. Got my 4790k to 5.2Ghz no problem. The color scheme is awesome for NVidia 7 and 9 series gpus.
REBATE! - They honor it, (if your patient) and you will get your 100$ in the form of an American Express Gift card.
SUPPORT! - Great! I actually filled out rebate form online incorrectly and was able to call and get it fixed.

Cons: Okay....with a board like this you cant but expect a few cons.
Bios-little hard to get used to, but overall okay.
Ram slots are a little close to0 the cpu socket. You may have some trouble with a large cooler. (But a seriously large one)
Liquid cooling for the north bridge dosnt feel very secure, I used some zip ties to tighten them down but the tubes could be pulled off pretty easily.

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind what your getting for your money, this is a fabulous board with lots to offer. Wifi adapater, 4 way SLI a 5.25" bay with USB 3.0 your case dosnt have it. its great! I honestly choses this board over any other when going for an 1150 cpu

3 out of 5 eggsExpected better

Pros: Had been eyeing up this board for a long time. Finally was able to aquire it but was a bit dissapointed. Lots of pros and cons to it.
4 Way SLI support
Supposed good audio
gold plating on connectors, sockets, slots
Green/black color scheme
Good VRM section and OC'ing ability
voltage read points and onboard power/reset/clear cmos buttons

Cons: The audio seems to stutter/lag really bad and I have had mixed results plugging it into different sets of speakers. some result in a constant clicking/popping, others are ok.
no ability to set the BIOS to ALWAYS boot into classic mode, instead of the hard to read fancy 3d version
the BIOS itself is buggy and slow
no ability to control fan speeds from within the BIOS
The manual should be more like 1000 pages, not 100. The lack of documentation on a board of this caliber is just crazy. I want to know what every detail of this board does. Pinouts for all onboard chips should be included as well as a detailed description of every setting in the bios.

Other Thoughts: OC touch would have been nice to see.
The fan on the heatsink is actually quiet. (For now)
Last update to the BIOS was a long time ago. Would like to see continual improvments to it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice board. Love it.

Pros: I love this Board, it has everything I need all in one with extras, great board for a high performance build.
Great colors as well as LED's in board, makes people appreciate computers more when they see it.
Water cooling feature, never used but its nice to know you have it.

Cons: I overpaid when it was new, but the price now is a great buy.

1 out of 5 eggsExpensive disappointment

Pros: Nothing comes to mind. Nice colors

Cons: Paid $400 new thinking I was buying a top of the line motherboard. The horrorshow began once I realized it wouldn't boot any Linux dvd I could throw at it. Make no mistake, this is a windows motherboard. Even Gigabyte omits Linux as an officially supported OS. You might be able to spend a week and eventually get something installed after trying a million configurations of secure boot/uefi, but it won't last.

* Way too many SATA connectors and not enough space to run cables. USB header cables slide off consistently.

* Sound card fails to work sporadically. Others have documented this. No audio device found. Really great feature for a gaming board to have.

* Little to no documentation about any of the cryptic motherboard settings. "XHCI Handoff: This enables the handoff of the XHCI functionality" <-- $#%$ off.

* Secure boot/UEFI is especially frustrating. There's many settings but NOTHING to tell you what any of it means, and nothing online. It's a crapshoot. Hope you have a lot of time.

* MACHINE CHECK ERROR halting reboot loops. Wait a day, maybe they go away.

* Funky BIOS can't be consistent in how it starts up. Sometimes it'll let you access the boot menu, most of the time it boots so fast you can't even access BIOS setup. Right now I have TWO dvd drives it ignores for the purposes of booting. This is the F8 BIOS. The F9 requires you to boot into DOS or something to install it instead of using the QFlash utility.

* Lame marvel hybrid drivers. Marvel driver opens up sketchy network port without explaining what it does or why it's there. Maybe to share your hard drive to the world? We'll never know.

* Speaking of downloads, what happened to Easy-Tune? It used to work 5 years ago. Now it just causes freezes (granted, it may be overheating on the minimum o/c level). I am using a stock cooling setup and never overclocking normally.

* Lauded dual NICs arent recognized by any OS until you install drivers. There's two. Can't ONE work out of the gate on windows? Bigfoot NIC software is useless. Next time Gigabyte, make the NICs identical.

* Support is nonexistent. Manual sucks and all there is is a 200 page thread on some o/c forum that consists of all questions and no answers. I wrote to gigabyte asking how to install linux or win8 with secure boot and the person didnt know what i was talking about.

* $400 for WHAT? Never spending more than $200 again on a mobo.

* Have to get into BIOS to disable the ho-hum addon wifi card. Why would you want to disable wifi? Oh I donno, if you had malware and a nearby open wifi AP, that's why. Bluetooth never worked.

* Can I complain again about the software and drivers? All of it is B-grade, no SHA1 checksum, supposedly required nonsense that provides no utility other than adding a few bullet points to the spec list. Intel Smart Connect? Are you kidding me? Read up on that before you enable.

* Hate myself for not researching the fact it wouldnt run linux.

Other Thoughts: For $400 (now $200, still a crime), I got a windows only mobo with no documentation and a bunch of iffy software and unexplained drivers. A mostly nonfunctional sound card and what seems to be an overheating issue without overclocking.

This was supposed to be a treat, my best box ever. Instead it was nothing but a headache from day 1. So many wasted hours. Lesson learned. Paying more doesnt always mean better quality and never buy a "gaming" motherboard again. Ensure Linux compatibility. I'm not going to swear off Gigabyte, but they certainly won't be my first choice to replace this thing. Anybody want this board?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: Solid design, lots of goodies. Onboard voltage readings, power on testing options. Tons of fan headers. It's pretttttty. The mother board also has a matrixy green led type thing running through it.

Gigabyte is solid as always.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsawesome board!

Pros: -4 pci-e 3.0 8x ports for quad gpu
-dual nic (intel and killer nic's) for redundancy just in case one dies
-sound core 3d quad core onboard sound
-10 usb 3.0 ports (6 at back, 4 onboard)
-pci-e 1x wifi card w/antenna
-works with haswell xeon cpu's

Cons: -eatx form factor -not a con to me, most people use atx and atx cases
-sound core 3d speaker port is also a microphone port, so the software sees my 2.0 speakers as headphones. If I rtry going to speakers in the system tray app,I get no sound.

Other Thoughts: I was going to wait on the z97 gaming 1 but none of the motherboard manufactuers aren't publishing cpu support for their boards. I am guessing it has something to do with the NDA for haswell refresh. Had to get this board since I am using a e3 1245 v3 haswell xeon cpu and didn't want to rma open box with restocking if the cpu didn't work.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Motherboard

Pros: Building a new water cooled gaming computer using an Intel i7-4770K CPU. Bought this motherboard for all the great features and copper water cooled chip set block preinstalled. Board has a ton load of features and ports available. I love the built in Creative EAX Sound port, no need to buy a sound card. Tested motherboard with a stock CPU heatsink and works great out of the box with my new G.Skills Trident X DDR3 2666 memory. Nicely lighted motherboard unfortunately it will be covered up by my 3 EVGA SLI nVidia Hydro cooled graphics cards. Great price with the $100 rebate card from Gigabyte.

Cons: None yet! Still need to purchase need parts for water cooling build.

Other Thoughts: Not very fond of the green color scheme otherwise the board looks great. Motherboard appears to be very durable and built with high quality construction and manufacturing standards.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MOBO for gaming

Pros: Easy to install lots of BIOS options and tweaking capabilities in the Stock BIOS, Looks Great, components seem very good quality. Included Wifi card is great too.
Track lighting looks sweet, and added cooling rails are great also.

Cons: None so far. Havent had any issues with this board. I would recommend it to anyone.

Other Thoughts: Runs great with 4770k I7 I put in it and 16GIG of GSKILL 1866 RAM. Tons of upgradibility if you want to go SLI or Crossfire later on. Im running a single Gigabyte Windforce 770 GTX right now and works good. Included Wifi Card works great too no issues connecting to the internet Runs all my games very well. ESO, Day Z, tested so far.
