5 out of 5 eggsAmazing motherboard

Pros: -Very reliable, lasted me a year and no damage. Works like when I bought it.
-Has everything a basic gamer will need (Up to 32gbs of memory, AM3+ socket, 2x PCIe 16x slots, ect.)
-Can handle up to 6 SATA drives, which is 4 more then I'll ever use.

Cons: -None so far, 12 months strong!

Other Thoughts: I am in love with this motherboard. It may not look like anything special, but I've bought two now, one I've owned for a year, and they are still working like they did when I unboxed them, even through several upgrades and stress.

3 out of 5 eggsThis board was great while it lasted!!

Pros: I got this board last year and worked good for a while! I was running Fedora 23 and Win 8 on it for a while!

Cons: GigaByte tech support sucks. I sent them the board with there automated response system. I created a RMA and told them what the board was doing. The board will not allow it to boot. Harddrive,CPU,Memory all check out fine with another system. I sent them the system at my cost and they sent it back saying it checked out fine. Now this was after 3 weeks waiting. I called them and was told that it was already on its way back to me and I had no recourse. The board comes back home and still broken. Gigabyte has not released any new bios for this board in 3 years.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy another gigabyte board again!!

1 out of 5 eggsBroken.

Pros: Nothing, because...

Cons: Failed twice, each time after running for a month.
No onboard speaker or LED to indicate it is alive.

Other Thoughts: Unreliable. It simply stopped working while being used, and refused to power back up. Twice. Tested with multiple CPUs and power supplies.

Because it ran for a month each time before failing, I'm now past the Newegg replacement period. I am stuck with an expensive paperweight. Even if I can get a manufacturer replacement, why would I trust it? Not to mention the cost of downtime, and installing it yet again.

Do not purchase this item if you value your time.

3 out of 5 eggsgood while it lasted

Pros: good price for a 970
handles win 10 with no issues and worked great with 3 different Linux distros Ubuntu, Fedora and Suse

Cons: bad position for ram slots, makes it hard to use a large air cooler. I was using an Arctic 13 and it covered the first slot. it's a problem with FX cpu's, they all need better coolers than AMD supplies.
it died after 14 months. it was used daily but never over clocked. I expected more from gigabyte.

5 out of 5 eggsGood board and the price is nice

Pros: Nice board for the price, good for a low or middle game system. Saved me the trouble of telling a customer to wait for their build when the ASUS I had ordered was bad. Newegg came thou for me on this one returned the bad ASUS and had this board the next day so was able to finish the build.

Cons: None that I see that are major, but just one thing was a pain the one mounting screw is located just above the memory slots, so you need a small precision screwdriver to get at it with ease, otherwise it's a pain to tighten.

Other Thoughts: Kind of like the board it's solid and so far runs cool, also one of the few where the back panel snapped in with ease, be nice if it was black to blend in with the case, but overall not a bad board for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsnice in some ways, but died

Pros: nice looking with plenty of slots for everything I could ever need.

Cons: Some minor things, and a big thing.
the text, like many boards, is laughably small in small parts. the screw above the ram slots is pretty much impossible to get to with a normal screwdriver unless you either have a deep case or small screwdriver. mine apears to be built specifically for the amd stock cooler, with a backplate already in it. I didn't need an after market cooler, but I could see a problem needing to remove the backplate.

and now for the big thing.
mine didn't work. not DOA, but not good. fan connectors seem to work then all power connectors are removed from the mobo, and the ps2 ports work. but when fully assembled, it refused to boot in any way.no lights, no fans, nothing at all. after much testing, I have found it to be a faulty mobo.

Other Thoughts: I would love this board, but I can't due to the fact that I can't boot at all with it. every thing is perfectly fine except for a screw hole and the fact that mine doesn't work. I would give it one egg, but I know that just because mine won't work, other will not be affected. which is why I gave it 2 (I'm not giving my faulty board 5 eggs). I'm probs gonna have to simply buy a new one if I can't figure hour how to RMA it. sad because it's my first build and I really need it to work.

4 out of 5 eggsIt has its problems, but works well

Pros: -Good price
-works well as long as you don't plan to OC
-Good for budget builds

Cons: -North bridge gets a little too hot for comfort
-one of the screws are positioned in a very inconvenient spot, right next to the RAM slots
-BIOS would only work on an older lcd display (this could be a problem with my r9 380)
-becomes unstable very easily, so don't plan on OCing much, if any

Other Thoughts: this is a good board but still needs some minor improvements. It does what it should and works flawlessly without OCing. I would recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to spend $100+ on a decent mobo.
