5 out of 5 eggsGood board and the price is nice

Pros: Nice board for the price, good for a low or middle game system. Saved me the trouble of telling a customer to wait for their build when the ASUS I had ordered was bad. Newegg came thou for me on this one returned the bad ASUS and had this board the next day so was able to finish the build.

Cons: None that I see that are major, but just one thing was a pain the one mounting screw is located just above the memory slots, so you need a small precision screwdriver to get at it with ease, otherwise it's a pain to tighten.

Other Thoughts: Kind of like the board it's solid and so far runs cool, also one of the few where the back panel snapped in with ease, be nice if it was black to blend in with the case, but overall not a bad board for the price.

2 out of 5 eggspathetic.

Pros: it turned on.

Cons: blue screens + kernal errors everytime I boot up. (all other parts work fine on my msi 970.) gets stuck in power loops of constant restarting. just pathetic I will stay away from gigabyte products from now on.

2 out of 5 eggsnice in some ways, but died

Pros: nice looking with plenty of slots for everything I could ever need.

Cons: Some minor things, and a big thing.
the text, like many boards, is laughably small in small parts. the screw above the ram slots is pretty much impossible to get to with a normal screwdriver unless you either have a deep case or small screwdriver. mine apears to be built specifically for the amd stock cooler, with a backplate already in it. I didn't need an after market cooler, but I could see a problem needing to remove the backplate.

and now for the big thing.
mine didn't work. not DOA, but not good. fan connectors seem to work then all power connectors are removed from the mobo, and the ps2 ports work. but when fully assembled, it refused to boot in any way.no lights, no fans, nothing at all. after much testing, I have found it to be a faulty mobo.

Other Thoughts: I would love this board, but I can't due to the fact that I can't boot at all with it. every thing is perfectly fine except for a screw hole and the fact that mine doesn't work. I would give it one egg, but I know that just because mine won't work, other will not be affected. which is why I gave it 2 (I'm not giving my faulty board 5 eggs). I'm probs gonna have to simply buy a new one if I can't figure hour how to RMA it. sad because it's my first build and I really need it to work.

4 out of 5 eggsIt has its problems, but works well

Pros: -Good price
-works well as long as you don't plan to OC
-Good for budget builds

Cons: -North bridge gets a little too hot for comfort
-one of the screws are positioned in a very inconvenient spot, right next to the RAM slots
-BIOS would only work on an older lcd display (this could be a problem with my r9 380)
-becomes unstable very easily, so don't plan on OCing much, if any

Other Thoughts: this is a good board but still needs some minor improvements. It does what it should and works flawlessly without OCing. I would recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to spend $100+ on a decent mobo.

3 out of 5 eggsNot a good linux solution

Pros: Nice motherboard for general use with the exception of CentOS/RHEL, Ubuntu (and possibly other) linux OS's

Cons: Will not work out of the box with CentOS/RHEL linux. USB 2.x ports become disabled and network interfaces will not work.

Other Thoughts: Solution found at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2188370. Has to deal with the default for IOMMU being desabled.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't last long

Pros: It worked well for four months, and seemed quite reliable.

Cons: It didn't last long

Other Thoughts: I'm buying this again,I don't believe this is a pattern for Gigabyte, over all their products have been good

5 out of 5 eggsLess is more! Powerful motherboard for gamers who want only what is necessary.

Pros: -Lots of sockets for decent expansion and fewer sockets I would never use.
-Expansive BIOS with lots of tweaking options.
-4 fan sockets for all my fans. I am a happy camper.
-USB 3.0 20-pin slot for a case and 2 regular ports on the back.
-Inexpensive for a 970 chipset board!
-Also, 970 chipset. Need I say more?
-My mother and father use this computer as well and have said they noticed a difference in performance from our last board which was about $25 less.

Cons: The following are moot points:
-The 4-pin PSU connector cable is just short of reaching the motherboard power socket. It's worth noting that my PSU is a few years old.
-There are no video output sockets on the motherboard, but there are on my graphics card.

Other Thoughts: -It may be a personal preference but I really like the fact that the board has no video outputs. From my time searching for and looking at several boards, it seems the more sockets there are, the more expensive the board. With the two PCIe slots and the missing outputs, I believe this board is ideal for gamers who want to pick out their own GPU (or GPUs if using SLI). If anyone is planning on using this board with one GPU, make sure to have a backup just in case.
-I mentioned that the power socket is in a difficult-to-reach place for my PSU cable on the board. This is a PSU issue but I feel like mentioning it because the power socket on a similar GIGABYTE board I looked at is in the middle of the board which is much easier to reach. I've been meaning to get an extension cable anyway, but it's one of those little things that can be a hassle. It may just be that the spot is an ideal location for this particular board and wouldn't work anywhere else too, and I'm okay with either.
-The board is long for a mid-tower case. It fits snugly inside my Orange DIYPC case, just enough so that the USB and audio cables for the case are pressing against the power supply. Nothing serious like cable pinching, just had to take extra care that all the cables were situated before the motherboard was in place. It all fits quite nicely.
-I would definitely recommend this board to my gamer friends. It isn't over-the-top (honestly, who needs more than 16gb of RAM?), doesn't require a beefy power supply, keeps itself very cool all the time, and still packs a punch.

-IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: The main HDD I have uses an older SATA format. The BIOS default is set to AHCI. I spent a little less than an hour wondering why my HDD wouldn't boot past the Windows logo figuring that out. If you have the same problem, check under "Peripherals" in the BIOS and change the format to "Native IDE".
