  • newegg High ESD Protection for USB and LAN (USB 3.0 only) GIGABYTE 8 Series motherboards raise the bar in terms of protecting your system, providing advanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for both your Ethernet LAN and USB ports, both common sources of ESD-related failures. Each LAN and USB port is paired with a dedicated protection filter that can withstand high electrostatic discharges, protecting your system from common electrical surges, and even direct lighting strikes.
  • newegg Gold Plated CPU Socket GIGABYTE 8 Series motherboards come equipped with a gold plated CPU socket, which means that enthusiasts can enjoy absolute reliability and longevity for the CPU socket overtime, without having any concerns about corroded pins and bad contacts.

A derivative of GIGABYTE's highly acclaimed 3x USB Power feature, On/Off Charge enables devices to draw more current from GIGABYTE motherboard USB ports than standard USB ports allow, so that charging from your PC can be as fast as with a charger. (*Due to certain mobile phone limitations, users may need to connect the mobile phone to their PC before the PC enters S4/S5 mode to enable a quick charge from non On/Off Charge USB ports. Charging results may vary by model. *Whether to support 3X USB power design, it may vary by models.)
  • newegg GIGABYTE OPT Fan Support Many of today's third-party water cooling systems require CPU fan power support for both the cooling fan and the water pump. GIGABYTE 8 Series motherboards feature OPT fan support, an additional CPU fan pin header that can be used to connect a water pump and configured for continuous full speed operation. The OPT Fan is also useful for high performance coolers employing two fans.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent non-gaming board

Pros: Looks good.
Everything worked.

Cons: BIOS looks outdated and although its uefi the mouse moves awkwardly.

Other Thoughts: CPU cooler and ram almost touch. ( hyper 212 and Kingston hyper blu ram)

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: Everything is where it is supposed to be
BIOS is nice
Looks nice

Cons: Had issues with getting the 24-pin connector to seat properly, could be down to the PSU though. Lot more flex than I would have liked, but no issues whatsoever. Would have liked a different placement of the PCI 3.0 slot

Other Thoughts: This was my first computer build, and it went into a HTPC focused build. Paired it with a i5-4570S, and paired the board and CPU because I didn't want to screw with overclocking on my first computer. 16 GB's of DDR3-1600 RAM, Hyper TX3 CPU cooler, Samsung SSD, and WD 1 TB HDD. Works like a charm.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: Not a bad board. Have not had any issues with it running 24/7 for the past couple months. Being used with Windows Server 2012 ATM. Using 24GB of Corsair memory and power supply.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent H87 board

Pros: Good quality components, good space for large heatsinks, relatively easy to install drivers.

Nothing bad?

Cons: Smaller than full ATX width, right edge of board flexes a lot due to SATA and 24 pin locations.

Other Thoughts: Bought it for an i5-4440, don't have any problems other than that it defaults to AHCI instead of raid.

Would recommend going with Z87-D3H in most cases.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother great Gigabyte product.

Pros: -Great build quality
-Nice looks
-stays at 28C no matter what I'm doing whether I'm just at idle or gaming for hours.

Cons: I tested it thoroughly and only found one thing that was wrong, which was the CPU OPT fan header was dead, but I didn't take an egg off because it's not that uncommon for a dead fan header and I use a fan controller so it didn't bother me. Other than that it is a fantastic board would buy it again in a heartbeat.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid board for a good price

Cons: - The CPU cooler I purchased (Cooler Master Hyper T4) was a little tricky to install. The main board has a heat sink installed next to the CPU socket (right across from the memory slots) and I had to slightly bend it out of the way so I could mount the cooler. I managed to get it installed without any damage but I wish Gigabyte would have put a little more thought into the location and size of the heat sink.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: My Setup:
Coolermaster case
Seasonic M12II - 650watt
i5 - 4430
GTX 260 GC
Samsung 840 120GB SSD - boot
Silicon Image PCI-X SATA RAID Controller (from older system) w/ 2 - 1TB Seagate HDDs

The board is well laid out. The heat sink for the southbridge will fit under long graphics cards. Plethora of I/O on the back plate and internal. The BIOS is very full featured with memory timings, boot options, CPU options etc etc.

Cons: I am having some problems with the BIOS holding the boot information. I have the BIOS set to AHCI, and when installing Windows, it recognized the SSD correctly (not the RAID, obviously). Upon reboot, I had a no boot device found. When I went back into the BIOS, the SSD did not show up. I powered the computer off, then back on and went back into the BIOS. The SSD was recognized, as was the RAID Card, and the boot order was incorrect. I fixed the boot order, and the device boot correctly. After installing some drivers, a reboot was needed. The device booted into Windows, but the CD/ROM was not detected (it would open/close though so power was getting to it). The same happened in Linux when I booted an old hard drive with Mint on it, the CD-Rom would open, but was not recognized.

I will make sure all cables are plugged in properly again.

Since Windows is already installed, and I will not ever boot off of the RAID set, I have disabled the add in card for boot, and the cd/dvd rom and only have the SSD as a boot option. I ran out of time last night, and will continue to work on it today.

Other Thoughts: This is a very full featured board for the price point. I only wish it supported SLI as I am a Nvidia fan, although I doubt I will ever use that feature even if it had it.

2 out of 5 eggsProbably go with a higher quality board

Pros: Sleek design, nice bios interface, good positions for most peripherals on the board. Probably would have been a nice board if not DoA.

Cons: My board had issues booting up and recognizing drives and wasn't able to power up all my case fans. Typically it would just say that it could find no bootable drives if I could get into the BIOS at all. Eventually it simply wouldn't boot at all, fan would spin and stop immediately. Seemed to be a clear power issue, despite an 880W power supply that is powering the computer I'm posting from now.

Other Thoughts: After going through the other reviews on this product, it seems like there's a similar occurrence of power / boot up / drive recognition. I can't say whether it's directly related to the board or not, but I'm opting to RMA the product and upgrade to a Z87 instead.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Solid board, was cheap and worked out great for a budget build I put together for work.

Cons: I have had some USB mouse issues, however, I suspect that it is the connection setup and cheap mouse to blame.

Other Thoughts: I have always had great luck with Gigabyte boards.
