These professional audio capacitors deliver the highest quality sound resolution and sound expansion to create the most realistic sound effects.

Gaming Headphone Amplifier (Front Headphone)

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent board but....

Pros: Even though this is smaller than a standard board, there's nothing lacking in the performance department. This system continuously outperformed similar systems clocked higher in both synthetic benches and real world applications but it pulls in front in real world, only just. The only reason I'm still giving this 4 eggs is because it is such a strong little powerhouse.

I still maintain this is one of the best looking z87 boards on the market and I'm glad I got one before Gigabyte decided to ditch the green.

Cons: There's really only one major flaw and I was ready to knock 2 eggs off this board because of the BIOS and lack of support for updating the BIOS. I was reluctant to flash it from F7 to the most recent approved F9, I completely skipped over F8. There is a F10a release but it's a beta and I'm not going to touch it with a 10 foot pole. F9 is a major improvement over F7 but it still needs work. With F7, if I so much as touch the memory timings, timings that were on the JEDEC and XMP tables, the system couldn't get past POST. It's a bit better now, at least F9 allows me to choose my own memory speeds without issue but I still can't key in manual timings. It's stable enough to POST and get into the OS but it will at some point restart randomly, no matter what I tried. I'm afraid there's just no overclocking the memory other than running at a higher speed than rated. I didn't even try overclocking the memory yet, I was just trying to run it with JEDEC and XMP timings that are on the SPD tables. There is a long period of time between BIOS updates and it may be a long time before this gets resolved.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Audio

Pros: Full size PCIe slots, but with reduced pins. Good power design per Sin's VRM power list. Good mix of DVI, HDMI, and DP display ports.

Cons: First boot and complete fresh install of Win7 x64, the Creative Audio showed up in the device manager. Drivers installed perfectly fine. About 1 day later, it disappeared. Ever since, no amount of reboots, changing BIOS audio settings from "enable" to "auto" to "disable", and fresh reinstalls of Win7 x64 will bring it back. I read a couple threads online that a few people seem to have had the Creative Audio die on them, potentially requiring a motherboard replacement. I contacted Gigabyte support. So it's 1 egg until this gets resolved. Once this gets resolved, it'll be back to 4 or 5 eggs.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Garbage, QA would be nice

Pros: I can, turn it on and it will work for a while, unfortunately that doesn't negate the issues that plague this motherboard.

Cons: Board is more unstable then any other I've ever owned in my life using latest BIOS f8 and supported components. Board constantly BSOD with G.Skill common RAM that is known stable. I've Prime95'd this RAM for 24 hours, only to have this board crash with Memory IRQ errors or some other random errors.

This will most likely be the last Gigabyte board I ever buy, I can't believe what a flop this has been and an utter waste for $200.00.

Don't get suckered into the Rebate like I did, This board would have gone back two days after I bought it.

Other Thoughts: My memory is not on their "approved" list but is a G.Skill Ares series major part # that has been used for two years successfully.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sounding Card

Pros: Really excellent on broad audio. Fits great as a direct replacement to Dell XPS 8700 motherboard. Runs 32GB of G.SKill Trident RAM and Samsung Pro SSD without issue.

Cons: Does not have on board wireless like the bigger Sniper ATX board.

5 out of 5 eggssupports 2-way SLI /crossfire 16x/8x

Pros: Green

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The specs for newegg don't show the PCI slot speed but as gigabytes website says it does support 2way SLI/crossfire at 16x / 8x

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Board

Pros: Used this board for my first build; it's working great with my 4770k processor. Decided to go all out, and glad I did. Just recently starting using a nice pair of headphones to utilize the some of the sound blaster 3D and plan on getting some surround sound as well because it sounds great. BIOs is really easy to work with over clocking is a definite in the future. Also the board is super durable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not a con really but the debug and power LEDs are annoying if you're going for a green color scheme because they are bright red.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: looks good sounds like its supposed to be nice.

Cons: #1 the killer lan is a joke if your running windows 8 or 8.1 the drivers/software from gigabyte are not compatible it will use all your ram up over time unless you restart your pc once every few hours. and killer will not help on the matter other than telling me to install the latest driver from the website over and over again.
#2 the audio card while working properly sounds pretty good for on board when its working properly. randomly the audio card would get very distorted and so loud that I could hear my headset across a 4000 square foot home screeching. tell me that's good on a set of Astro a40's which is the reason I purchased this board in the first place.
#3 this board was rma'ed do to not posting bios and would not show display after 2 months of use and all the above was mentioned and confirmed by gigabyte that they would fix it.
#4 had to call gigabyte repeatedly to find out where my board was it sat in rma complete status for two weeks before one person I talked to went back to the shipping dept. and found it setting there ready to ship and he informed me he had no idea has to why it was setting there and that it had been setting there for several days. im thinking had I not called and called and called I might still be waiting.
#5 and now were back to square one again well for the most part, the board posts and boots fine but the audio is back to doing the same thing and I didn't mention this before but games are crashing do to unknown errors.

Other Thoughts: To be honest the audio has never stopped messing up since I got the board back I just passed it off has a windows 8/8.1/7 issue because I tried them all. Same issues with all three operating systems and rebooted windows 8 so many time with fresh install Microsoft had to issue me a new key. My friend has the exact same setup and all three operating systems running on it and has had no issues at all of this kind. Ive tried three power supplies two sets of ram two dvd burners 3 different video cards, had the board out of the case running all with same result of failure. I think ive definitely bent over backwards on resolving these issues has instructed by gigabyte tech support and demand a refund or a new WORKING replacement immediately.
NO I would not recommend this to a friend!

memory and cpu were all off the supported lists. working environment is always a steady 68F and the system is in a well ventilated case.
