2 out of 5 eggsStill no joy

Pros: In combination with the Core I7, this board if pretty fast.

Cons: BIOS out of the box is outdated, which is OK of course, as long as a valid updating method is available. Gigabyte provides 3 'easy' ways to update the BIOS, none of which worked. I was forced to contact the company and download a 3rd party partitioning utility to format a thumb drive and update it via the thumb drive. Which is also OK, of course, but a bit of a pain in the neck. My chief complaint is this board has crashed my system 3 times and each time it happens, the RAID config. is lost and I have to rebuild it from a backup. I've exchanged emails with Gigabyte and they explain that it's not supposed to do that. Yeah, I know, but it still does. Can I get a RAID driver update? I already have it, they say. I explained that I intend to overclock my proc and since I am new to overclocking, resetting my BIOS might have to occur in the future and no way do I want to have to rebuild my RAID each time it happens. Can I get a new board? No. Can I get a refund? No.

I am not buying any more Gigabyte gear. Period.

Other Thoughts: There are many other adequate boards out there - steer clear of this one.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal Disappointment

Pros: None so far as this board has been nothing but problems. to try and get started.

Cons: Board came without proper support installed for Haswell. Borad does not get past code 15 memory test in dual channel mode .

Other Thoughts: This is my third Gigabyte board and thought I'd try the UD4H rather than the OC that has performed well for me twice already. Big mistake. Gigabyte now down a couple of notches and will consider other board MFG if they do not get back to me soon with the RMA.

1 out of 5 eggsBlue Screen Issues, RMA Problems

Pros: I have been using Gigabyte boards for several years. For a new build this had everything I needed as far as ports and connectors, dual bios that is selectable on the MB, post readout, on board on-off and reset switches, and many other nice features for the priice. It is an attractive board as well, and with the Gigabyte heavy duty construction and, usually, quality.

Cons: I began getting blue screens right after loading Windows 7. After exchanging EVERY component on the board, including hard drive, memory, video card, power supply...all but the actual CPU, The blue screens continued. I then ordered the x97 version on this board, put the same components back in the box and NO blue screens in a couple of weeks...was several per day (a wide variety of sources for the blue screen...no discernible pattern) So I pretty well confirmed a problem with this MB. So I submitted an RMA to Gigabyte, which they say will be responded to in 2 days. It has been two weeks and nothing.

Other Thoughts: At this point I am stuck. I should also mention that the first board I purchased had some issues for which I RMA'd it, and that process worked fine. Not sure why no response this time. Be careful if you purchase this board.

2 out of 5 eggsBetter boards exist!

Pros: This board delivers on everything it claims except the BIOS update is totally wonky and if you've set up a RAID config, you will lose it! Heed the warnings offered by others and go for an Intel board.

Cons: I've had this board for 2 months and it's been a constant struggle. Getting a current BIOS is a NIGHTMARE. If anything goes wrong the RAID is not rebuild-able. Be sure you have an adequate backup!

Other Thoughts: Intel boards - way better!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat now that the BSOD Issue resolved

Pros: Runs faster than my 990XA motherboard with a Vishera FX-6350. On board Intel NIC is faster than a separate Intel NIC card that I was using on my previous MB.

Cons: The board has an issue when using 4 sticks of memory. It also has an issue with the SD Extreme SSD drive. I was getting 4 BSOD’s a day – even when the PC was idle, for no reason. Each time it would give a different error. I am using the G-Skill memory that is on the QVL list and it just so happened that it is the same memory I was using on my previous Gigabyte MB without any issues. But just to rule out a possible memory issue, I ran memtest 86 overnight and the memory passed with no errors. I then decided to use a pair of WD Black edition HD’s in Raid 0, and thought that this would resolve the BSOD issues as I had read that the SSD I was using has caused issues with Z87 based MB’s. After going through a fresh install of W7 again, I was now getting 2 BSOD’s a day. At this point, I was clueless. I thought that after numerous builds using Gigabyte MB’s, I had got a defective MB. I started to do some research and found that this seems to be a common issue regardless of the MB manufacturer when using 4 sticks of ram on a Z87 MB. Thanks to a review here on Newegg, I found the answer. It turns out that the bios does not properly detect the correct voltage when using 4 sticks of Ram, but not so when using only 2 sticks of ram, as most people have. When I checked the voltage setting in the bios, they were detected as 1.46v, the memory should be at 1.5 volts. After manually adjusting the memory voltage, no more BSOD’s.

Other Thoughts: I think that GB should correct this issue in a future Bios release, as I have the latest bios revision, F9. Additionally, the manufacturer should post this on their web site, as there is no mention of it what so ever. Up until this point, I have always used AMD MB’s and CPU’s and have used Gigabyte MB’s but found that Intel has a better CPU and chipset. I got the i5-4670 CPU and it runs faster that the Vishera 6350. Additionally, certain apps run better with an Intel. I read recently that other than gaming software, other software manufacturers do not totally support AMD CPU’s to take full advantage of it. As always, Newegg had the best price and fast shipping.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Another great quality motherboard from Gigabyte. Install was a snap and the installation CD was a breeze. Compared to all other boards I've assembled this one weighs a ton and is a rock solid build but that's more than likely due to the heatsinks.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte has great Tech Support and responds immediately to any concerns that anyone may have which is a plus for me.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Great product

Pros: Love this board. I bought it at a great price and has lots of features and ports available. The board is very durable and solid construction. Works great out of the box. Comes with the new UEFI BIOS setup. Plan on using this motherboard with a Linux OS installed.

Cons: Wish it had a Fire Wire 1394 port for my camera.

Other Thoughts: I have not received a DOA motherboard from Gigabyte and had good support service. Keep up the great quality service.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to PRIOR REVIEW LEFT

Pros: Amazing speed, connections similar to a $300 - $400 board, thickest heavy duty actual build of a motherboard I've ever used, and so much more.

Cons: All the stuff I had to go through to finally get a great working board sucked but at least now it works awesome. What is cool is when Gigabyte is done repairing a board they have a tech in another department go through an test every single connection, resistor, PCI slots, and every piece of this board possible to check. From what I was told they test them hard to. They don't just plug in something that reads its good. They literally put heavy duty video cards in and test the SLI modes and everything else. This impressed me greatly because think about how long it would take you to just go through this board.... A long time.

Other Thoughts: This is a review update to a prior review I wrote before. Well I finally got my motherboard back from Gigabyte where they fixed whatever was wrong with it and now I am very happy. For those of you who got your board and it came working, now I understand the 5 star reviews. To everyone else who had problem with the memory slots, NOT ME. I first just started out with 2 sticks totaling 16GB and decided to wait until after I installed all the drivers for the board before adding the other 2 8GB sticks. That's exactly what I did, unplugged and drained the power from the board, stuck in the other two sticks and when the board fired up I was amazed at how the Windows logo that spins when booting couldn't even get 1/4 of the way through before I saw the desktop wallpaper and the machine was ready to run!! I timed it with my 4670K i5, Sandisk ULTRA II 240GB solid state HDD with no overclocking at all, it boots up in a little over 5 seconds from ice cold to ready to run at the desktop screen! The boot up music literally is almost done playing before I even see the wallpaper to the background screen!! I am very happy with my board now and just hope none of the problems other people had pop up. I always have my laptop so if it does ever need to be sent back for a repair at least now I know they will fix it properly. So that's cool. I think the tech who fixed my board updated the BIOS to F9 the newest one to because when I looked I had the newest bios and I never updated it so maybe that's something that would help people who had problems with memory. I also used my integrated graphics when installing all the drivers for the motherboard like I always do. Then when they are all done, I power off the system, unplug it, drain the board, then added my two Gigabyte 660OC video cards, plugged everything in, and poof it started up with no problem. Whats weird about my system I've noticed though is my PSU is the newest corsair HX850 that has so many heatsinks going on inside the cooling fan rarely spins, So if anyone is looking for a PSU that's way affordable, think I paid $115 on NEWEGG, the HX 850 Professional Corsair model is def one to look into. The only wires that are permanently attached are the CPU power wire and the 24 pin connector. Both of which anyone using it would need to use. The rest are modular. I actually like it set up like that. No modular connection between CPU and motherboard power connector. I just seen this board is now priced at $149 until the end of April! I am seriously thinking about ordering one or two more because any other board with this many features like I said before is $300 to $400 and you can't compare the warranty.. Sorry for blasting you before Gigabyte and thanks for getting it right!!!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board!

Pros: It looks cool, has lots of ports, and it's a fun project for me as a learn how this stuff works on the fly. Love the BIOS screen.

Cons: I spent months trying to figure out how to figure out how to install more RAM and not get blue screens. Only 2 out of 4 sticks worked and I experimented with different options for MONTHS. After a long and drawn out process, I read through these reviews and saw someone post this: WHEN ADDING MORE THAN TWO STICKS OF RAM, YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY ADJUST THE VOLTAGE. I ended up raising it to 1.75 volts and I no longer get blue screens. Thank you Jason L. for posting that. I am re-posting this for anyone that comes across this problem in the future.

Other Thoughts: I thought the issue with memory shouldn't be something a beginner level user like myself should have to deal with. I took away an egg for that.
