Makes cable management easy
No problems, reliable
Bang for your buck

1 out of 5 eggsDon't know what to think....

Pros: Beautiful motherboard with all the options you could want including very thick double PCB board build with three layers sandwiched and stronger than any other motherboard I've used to build with under $200. Came listed with every option one could want unless you need a motherboard that's built for a very specific reason.

Cons: Never got to even power it on and see something on the screen. Let me be clear, I have built over 100 gaming desktop rigs, some have been on sites etc. In saying that, I bought this motherboard a while back having spent a lot of money to build a so called ultimate Gigabyte build. I purchased this board along with two Gigabyte 660OC Wind force video cards, and i5 4670K quad core Haswell CPU, twin 240GB Samsung 840 EVO solid state hard drives, two sets of 4GB X 2 G SKiLL RipJaws 16GB altogether, a NZHT case that I've spent over $100 on customizing with fiberglass and acrylic paneling, custom painting the plastic on my video cards to match the red paint off the motherboard and the worst part is, I had everything connected to the motherboard, CORRECTLY, and it smoked a little and gave me error lights, I called gigabyte and did what the tech told me to do, when I did the table power on like he wanted a capacitor on the board lit like a match LITTERALLY FLAME UP I almost freaked out and through a cup of water on it! I sent it into Gigabyte explaining to them how NEWEGG.COM where I bought this board from, please let me specify that this board was bought from NEWEGG, NOT GIGABYTE. When I bought my CPU, mobo, and first order of ram, NO ram came in the box and the motherboard wasn't in a sealed box which I thought was weird. Having never bought a Gigabyte board I went on to notice that the SATA cables weren't in sealed bags, the black plastic CPU socket cover on the motherboard was taped loosely on, the manual that was in the box looked like it had been read through 100 times, well used anyways. So here I finally have all my stuff to put this rig together after getting my last piece, a corsair 750 HX Pro series PSU, I sent Gigabyte the motherboard back with a letter explaining how I thought Newegg originally sent me either a used motherboard or possibly sent me one that was sent back with problems. Almost two weeks later I call them and am told that my motherboard "has been repaired" and is awaiting testing. I PAID FOR A NEW MOTHERBOARD and they are sending me back one they've repaired?!!? I just thought that people should know this. Everyone has been real nice at Gigabyte so far, but you'd think after telling them what happened they would send me a replacement. So I've since thought about changing my monster Gigabyte build that was going to be the show piece in my computer repair shop and switching it over to an MSI show piece. In the past whenever I've had any kind of problem with ASUS or MSI that would compare they would just send me new hardware. This has been my first and only impression of Gigabyte so far so you can understand why I'm not so happy with them.

Other Thoughts: I was telling everyone about this big bad build I was putting together and I don't have the heart of the build to put it together. I'm getting a repaired motherboard back when I bought a new motherboard to start. I think it's wrong that I am going to be starting with a used been through a repair motherboard instead of a brand new one like everyone else who buys one. I'm sure the problem was with NEWEGG, but It would have been nice for Gigabyte to hear about this problem and for them to take it up with NEWEGG themselves. Now I have to see what neweggs going to do about it.....Which will prolly be nothing...

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate on RMA's Board

Pros: 8 SATA ports, lots of usb 3.0, including internal header, fairly straight forward bios...pretty good bang for the buck.

Cons: This is an update to an earlier post, wherein my first board arrived with bad esata ports and would not recognize my wireless mouse and keyboard. The replacement board checks out 100%, so I am happy. The only remaining con is my wireless mouse pointer is jumpy in the bios forcing me to use the keyboard, which is tolerable. Tech support says it is because I use a KVM switch...maybe so, but I am not going to give up the KVM for that. So the loss of an egg is a combination of a bad board to begin with and the touchy bios interface with my mouse. BTW, Gigabyte tech support was very responsive when I contacted them...good for them.

Other Thoughts: I have used many Gigabyte boards for years...first time RMA, so I guess in the long run they are still my favorite. I see other reviews about bad ports, so if you buy this board, check them all out right away. Newegg will RMA with free shipping both ways for defective boards. I just purchased a new board to save time and Newegg processed my return as a refund.

1 out of 5 eggsA Flashy Failure

Pros: A flashy board that sometimes works

That is works at all. Period

Cons: Does not support 4 sticks of memory without a LOT of work (manual setup).
This board has serious memory issues with tested functional RAM. Most of the time it would power cycle on and off until the power is cut. XPM profiles are broken on this chunk of f e c a l matter.

Other Thoughts: I will have to look elsewhere for reliable boards. Gigabyte is putting beta test hardware in customer hands and asking them to pay for it.

Also, I paid extra $$ for a quick rebate for which they say will take 9 weeks.

Goodbye Gigabyte - Byte me

Thieves.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Fun Build

Pros: Gigabyte did a real nice job on the build of this board. No
issues what so ever. Typing on it now. Fast set up, bout an
hour to get going. I have used Gigabyte boards for years
without any problems. I would buy this again I also like that
the board is full size ATX..

Cons: The App Center stuff needs some work, and they could locate the FPA closer to the front of the case. I will be interested to see how 4 sticks of ram does for me. I have
Gig. boards that have been running for almost 10 years !

Other Thoughts: A lot of people really complain about their parts here on New Egg. I think most people need to learn how to set up a
new box. For one thing your power supply is very important,
how you handle the board, your static elec. amounts in your
work area,,having clean downloads of drivers, utill.., and many other little things that matter.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Ports

Pros: Nice looking.

Cons: Bad sata port, bad esata back panel ports, bios won't recognize wireless mouse or keyboard, fails to boot with xmp profile active. Wasted 3 days trying to get it to work. It will boot, but only with default settings, and even then sometimes starts crashing from sleep mode. Definitely something wrong with this MB.

Other Thoughts: Loaded latest drivers, flashed latest bios after much difficulty, still defective. I have owned several gigabyte mother boards and never had these types of problems. Hopefully a replacement will work better. Otherwise I give up on Gigabyte.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board!

Pros: Great board, using over a year it with an i5-4670k air cooled OCed to 4.6K in a Canyon 695 case and with an Samsung 840 pro SSD 16 gig of ram and a recent upgrade of a 780 ti from my older 580GTX. Got it with intels combo for $80 off last year. I wanted the MSI G45 MB but it was sold out, and I am very happy I got this instead!

Cons: the bios is hard to try to work with at times, I am used to ASUS's ROG bios and its much simpler, but this is a start in the right direction compared to earlier gigabyte bioses of friends computers that I have worked on. I wish it had an msata connector like the Asus and MSI boards do.

5 out of 5 eggsGood MoBo

Pros: 4 Ram Slots, Haswell compatible, 8 SATA slots. UEFI BIOS. USB 3.0. Basically this board has all the new tech on it and does everything I want it to do.

Cons: Not really a con but something to be aware of. The board I got was 2 UEFI versions behind the current release. Updating the UEFI clears your settings so If you have RAID enabled you'll need to re-enable it before your system will boot.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat, but has issues.

Pros: LOTS slots, headers and I/Os that are going to come in handy when expanding in the future. It's a good-looking board that seems to be very durable.

The UEFI BIOS is laid out decently, but needs some more love from the Gigabyte designers.

Cons: The original board purchased had a dead CPU_FAN header. The replacement had the same failure after a month of use at home. The only load was the original air cooler that came with the i7-4770k, which has a Delta fan,

I, and others, have been deceived by Gigabyte. The GA-Z87-UD4H features the 4-pin CPU fan header along with several additional 4-pin fan headers. Even the manual notates the BIOS having PWM control for the additional 4-pin headers (manual page-48).

THE ONLY PWM FAN ON THIS BOARD IS THE CPU_FAN HEADER!

The other 4-pin SYS_FAN headers ARE NOT PWM (manual page-27). Why the hell have 4-pins, there's even a 3-pin fan header to add insult to injury.

Finally, my MoBo arrived warped, bowed up in an arch.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this mobo based on the number of 4-pin fan headers. Since they are useless, I'll need to find a replacement. I can't be too upset since I failed to read each and every page of the user manual prior to the purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid with one problem

Pros: Solid board that has been super reliable for overclocking and everything else once I figured out the problem. Looks awesome with my G skill ram and case and all the black caps look way better than my last board. Audio is surprisingly good with low ohm headphones, 32-60ish ohms.

Cons: 4 sticks of ram will create bsods at random several times a day. The board is extremely stable with 2 dimms filled, but I do have a fix. Raise the "System Agent Voltage" in the bios + .2 and all the stability problems with ram will vanish. I am now running 4x4 DDR3 ram and haven't had a single bsod since.

Forums are full of people having issues with all z87 gigabyte motherboards using 4 dimms of ram. Use the fix and be happily on your way. Definitely worth taking an egg off as it took forever to figure out.

Motherboard says it can push 600 ohm headphones, but it doesn't do it very well. My beyerdynamic dt 880 cans sound weak and thin with the on board audio, so now I am using an Asus STX Essence.

Other Thoughts: Great board other than the ram issue which is completely fixable, but it shouldn't have come from the factory that way. Slightly disappointed, but I've never had a gigabyte motherboard die on me so I am sticking with them.
