5 out of 5 eggsGood Value in a Motherboard

Pros: Focuses on important features: lots of USB ports, including USB 3.0 ports that can quickly charge a smartphone or tablet. Cost is low.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I like the simplicity of this motherboard, which keeps its cost down. It does not contain a lot of useless features that I do not need.

2 out of 5 eggsIssues

Pros: When working, performance is good. Well thought out board and I like all the USB connections, the powered USB ports while off and the plethora of USB 3.0 connections.

Cons: Video issues on the MB. Haven't used my PC extensively over the last 5 months since I built it, but when I did start using it more, found issues. Got a GeForce 770GTX for my video card. Started seeing pink on everything. Seems to be when streaming video (Netflix and Hulu) for my kids. Tested all my components seperatly and tested the card on multiple other rigs and had no issues with it. With my GTX hooked up to this motherboard, I get very strange coloration, PINK being the number one culprit. No issues while gaming, no overheating (I have plenty of airflow.) Now all of the sudden my PC will randomly shut off with no warning. All indications point at my MB. Will send back for RMA.

Other Thoughts: This is an alright board, but have had issues. The price is not bad for what you get, but be prepared for minor issues. The first memory I bought would not work with the MB, even though the MB supports it. Do a bit of research on this board and read the reviews prior to purchase to make sure it is right for you. I have had no other issues with any other Gigabyte hardware to this point, and will continue to buy from them in the future.

1 out of 5 eggsRMA twice

Pros: It's pretty

Cons: RMA'd first board after a few weeks for video issues. RMA'd the second board after a few weeks for video issues. The first board would display pink no matter what video card was installed. The second board will not display anything no matter what video card is installed. Both lasted just a few weeks.

Other Thoughts: Had another Gigabyte board recently. RMA'd it too. Sold the replacement yesterday, today this one craps out and I have no boards. Gigabyte is off my approved list.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: AMD3+
Worked with FX 8350 out of box
New bios
6gb Sata
USB3 header for front panel

Cons: Similar to some other reviews my board also shuts off on boot requiring me to press power again . Its not really that big of an issue for me I just hope it doesn't turn into something worse.

Other Thoughts: Other than those cons its a nice board and does what I need it to do.

3 out of 5 eggsNot great but OK

Pros: This board looks great and has a lot of nice features. It is also reasonably priced. Up until this board, I have had really good luck with Gigabyte boards and prefer them for new builds.

Cons: Unfortunately, this board seems to be hampered by its VIA USB3 chip set. The 1st one I got installed fine but when I plugged anything into one of the USB3 ports, the system would lose power and shut off immediately. This was not a permanent condition, as unplugging the USB3 item or cable would allow the system to restart and run normally until the next attempt at USB3 connection was made. The same instant off would then occur.

I sent that board back to Newegg and they swapped it for a new board. OK, so far so good. After installation and check out, everything seemed to be working fine... even the USB3 ports. One week later, however, both USB3 ports died and will not work... at all. At least they do not shutdown the system if a USB3 cable or device is plugged into them.

By this time, I was tired of swapping this board into and out of my video PC system. I NEED this system to run reliably. My video recording and editing hobby depends on it. I kept the board even though it does not have USB3, which would be quite useful for anyone running this board who wants to transfer large multi-GB files via a USB stick.

My plan now is to buy a USB3 controller card that I can plug into one of the PCIe solts. I will not be buying one with the same VIA USB chip set, of that you can be sure.

Other Thoughts: This isn't a bad board in spite of the USB3 problems I have had with it. Other than this glitch, the board has worked well. I have mine paired with a AM3+ 6-core 3.9 GHz CPU and 8 gigs of DDR3 SDRAM. This is a good combo but it is being help back by Win Vista at the moment. I will get Win 7 back in action at some point and from the 3-user DVD that I bought. That in combination with an SSD should make this system much faster.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Board - inexpensive and very reliable

Pros: I'm pretty happy with this purchase. The board is clearly labeled and has more ports than I'll ever need. Was able to transfer my old OS with no issues. Gigabyte's website is pretty helpful and has recent drivers and software.

For as expensive as some boards are on the market, this has proven to meet my needs at a fraction of the price.

The vendor's customer support is prompt and helpful.

Cons: None really, except it went on sale for $10 less shortly after I bought it :S

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte's tech support is relatively helpful and prompt. Initially, I thought the board had shorted out and after going though my troubleshooting checklist I put in a trouble ticket with them.
Their response was to check the RAM sticks individually. Turns out, I had 1.35V RAM and the DIMM slots are rated for 1.5. My bad there. Borrowed a couple other sticks and the board works great!

3 out of 5 eggsfreezing and restarts with fx 8core

Pros: a solid board for AM3 in my view.

Cons: AM3+ not so good, it has problems or rather gives problems with 8cores. freezing and restarts caused by drastic idling..was resolved by disabling all power saving options in Bios. also disabling turbo. and if your like me, I don't OC so I lost some of the features I liked about my 8 core.

Other Thoughts: an updated Bios would be nice F5 is as far as they seem to want to go.

1 out of 5 eggsNo time for this

Pros: All the necessary plug ins

Cons: Couldn't load any O/S's from XP pro to W7 without constant lock ups, even in BIOS. Every possible Memory,DVDROM,HD's,Video, driver,& P/S config to no avail. North Bridge is hot enough to burn at the touch.
Water cooling might have saved it.

Other Thoughts: Quality control is obviously an issue here. I'll have to stick with higher end boards.
