1 out of 5 eggsGIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P

Pros: Great Features
Great layout of the board

Cons: DOA Twice
Could never get it to post nor get the beeps when it tries to post. All fans (8 of them) would operate DVD and Hard drives just no video and no post, even the fans on the video card would run but never any signal

Other Thoughts: The first one I purchased was never able to boot nor would it give any attempt to post, no beeps. Everything would run but no video and it just wouldn't post. All hardware worked great I bought this to upgrade from an ASRock MB but I RMA the MB and Newegg sent me another within a week. I put the new one together and got the same results. So I then purchased another 970 brand ASUS and put it together with same hardware and it booted up on first attempt with zero issues When I did receive the second board I found in the bottom of the box an extra I/O plate that belong to another type of MB and it was unsealed so I really wonder what kind of MB I received the second time, maybe someone else's problem. These MB packages should come sealed so you know that it hasn't been tampered with but because of the really bad deal I will never purchase another Gigabyte MB again. I have built many Desktop PC's over the years and this is the worst experience I have ever endured.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the fastest motherboards ever to setup

Pros: i have not made a computer in over 4 years and there is no question that todays motherboards are a cake walk to setup and this Gigabyte motherboard is no exception. So far i can find nothing wrong with this board. Cost is another factor to because ten years ago a board like this quality would cost welll over one hundred and twenty five dollars. Do not be fooled buy reviews who clam that you need a 990 chip set to over clock your processor. I could over clock mine much higher but i am happy with backing it off a few notches. Also i am having no over heating issues. Outstanding board.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Great board for an old guy who has not built a computer in over four years.

5 out of 5 eggspretty good board, no problems at all

Pros: Really good audio quality.
Everything works good.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've had this board for almost a week and had no issues. I see that some people have, well almost every motherboard on newegg I looked at had bad reviews. So I took a chance and am happy with my purchase :)

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The setup is nice, boot time is nice, price was ok

Cons: The board has some kind of problem with high graphic games. If I start up a game on high settings 70% of the time it will crash at some point during the game. I stress tested cpu, gpu, ram and all signs point to this motherboard because all previous hadware came from my older asus MB which ran with no problems.

Other Thoughts: I've read on some forums that the drivers of Gigabyte boards have been known to cause BSoD errors. The last gigabyte board I will ever buy.

5 out of 5 eggsSmooth Little Runner

Pros: This board runs fast and cool. I've been a Gigabyte motherboard user for years, so I knew what I was getting when I bought this some time ago. I haven't had any of the slow boot up times others have reported, so I can't address that. In fact, this board boots up real fast.

Cons: The BIOS Save and reboot menu is a little quirky, but understandable after some use.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte has gone to a different interface with their BIOS set up. Not sure if it's good or bad, just different. I think the BIOS vendor might be different from previous Gigabyte boards....... I have never had a DOA Gigabyte board. Maybe It's luck, or maybe it says something about the manufacturer's quality control.

2 out of 5 eggsMobo takes for ever to turn on

Pros: Well... IT has a ton of settings in the bios which is cool and all Looks good with my ram, fan plugs are easy to get to. I love the bracket around the connecting pins for the case

Cons: When I first got it, it boot up instantly. no delays or anything. had it at my friend house for a few days, then brought it home and it started to act really weird, I would push the power button. it came on for about 0.5 MS then turned off, and would take about 8-10 Seconds to actually power up and turn on, and seemed like it was starting to take longer and longer each time i turned it on. I though it was the case button so I tried to short circuit it on, and it still did it. finally cleared the CMOS and now it seems to be working perfectly. Upset they didnt try to get a hold of me with a resolution when I wrote my first review, because for what ever reason I cant over clock my CPU in the bios. and the easy tune program it comes with sucks. but I discovered that once you install the drivers. you just right click your desktop and you can go to into AMD catalyst and over clock from there. Pretty high actually. which caught me off guard.

Other Thoughts: With the cleared Cmos I hope this fixes the issues I've been having with it crashing and taking for ever to boot up. thats all I can really say.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mid range mobo

Pros: - Been working for 18 months without trouble
- Board allows a modest OC, 4.4-4.5ghz
- UEFI bios (easy to use)
- USB 3.o rear & front headers
- nice layout, everything labeled
- compatible with am3/am3+ cpu's
- gigabyte @bios software for updating bios (recommend using)
- XMP recognizes1866mhz ram (oc's to 2000mhz)
- heatsinks on Mosfets
- can save 10 bios profiles for OC'ing
- Great for single GPU solutions

Cons: - Board has a small v-droop when OC'ing cpu
- Only 1 16x pcie 2.0 slot & 1 4x pcie slot
- no SLI or CF
- software on the cd if rubbish except for @bios
- Mosfets get hot when OC'ing & throttle system over 4.5ghz
- Gigabyte boards power up & down test before booting up PC, adds 6 seconds to bootup time (but it's normal)

Other Thoughts: Overall I m happy with this mobo. Was easy to OC cpu & ram. Just F12 on bootup. Go to cpu options check "enable" on unlock cpu. Then "DISABLE" turbo boost. Then change your mutilplier & voltage. Ram, check enable xmp profile 1 or 2 & your set for 1600-1866mhz.. (2000 you need to manually oc ram)

3 out of 5 eggsMobo is Weird

Pros: Seems to be pretty quick, I love at how easy it is to access the Case plug-ins and how they made a box around it.

Cons: No buttons on it! Surprised there are no buttons on it for bios or anything like that. It acts super weird when it starts up, it will boot for Half a second, turn off for 2, then it will fully boot up, At first I thought it was the cases Power button but it wasn't, I shorted it to make sure and it still acts the same, I dont think thats normal at all. the overclocking software doesnt work at all. Tried to overclock it in the Bios and that didnt work as well, said my CPU needs to be unlocked which it is, In the end i had to find another software to overclock it because it just wouldnt let me make the changes at all.

Other Thoughts: Looks good with my ram, thats about it.
