1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality Control

Pros: Arrived D.O.A.

Cons: Arrived D.O.A. Its obvious Gigabyte is having some issues with quality control. Sure a motherboard from time to time will be DOA but if you look at the number of other people who had the same issue are we really to believe they are all incapable geeks? Is gigabyte really checking any of these before they are shipped out of the factory?

Other Thoughts: I was considering purchasing a Gigabyte gaming board but will wait and see if my replacement board arrives in working order before I give Gigabyte any more business.

5 out of 5 eggsGood motherboard

Pros: It's a fast MB and performs well.

Cons: This one was a little more difficult to setup. I'm still not sure why I was having a problem installing the OS but it finally installed and I've had no problems since.

3 out of 5 eggsGA-970A-D3P - Decent but has some issues

Pros: USB3, SATA3, Heat Sinks on VRMs, UEFI Bios (not sure I see a real advantage with UEFI)

Cons: I could not overclock my FX8310 at all with rev 1.0 this board, it could be my CPU or this board. I'm OK running it at stock since it runs pretty cool with a Hyper 212+. Latest BIOS needed for my CPU is a beta one. Windows 10 compatibility? Fan speed control problems.

Other Thoughts: I originally had this running Win 8.1, but I upgraded to Win 10 -64-bit. My biggest complaint is with the fan control. With all my Gigabyte boards, I personally like using EasyTune 6 for tweaking the CPU fan speed control and looking at the system temperatures, CPU speed and voltages. I tried some other programs like Speed Fan, but didn't like them. I do NOT ever use EasyTune 6 for overclocking and I never will. With all previous Gigabyte boards, there has not been any way to tweak the Sys1 Fan speed - it modulates, but does it's own thing. When on Win 8.1, I was very happy to find a tab in the Smart fan control option and was able to adjust my case fan speed to my liking. Sometimes in Win 8.1 EasyTune 6 would stop working, but the fans would continue to control. Since I upgraded to Win 10, EasyTune 6 caused several "Driver can't release to failure errors" I'd have to click on the error dialog boxes and the program would eventually crash. Now with Win 10, my case fan (4-pin PWM) does not spin at all and I find this very frustrating, since the Sys1 fan control option was finally available. I have other Gigabyte boards running Win 7 and EasyTune 6 works flawlessly, except of course no options for the Sys1 fan control. It's seems to me that Gigabyte is not going to support EasyTune for the 1.0 rev. of the board in Win 10. I installed a newer version of EasyTune for the rev 2. of this board and it was all about overclocking and had no fan control options - I immediately uninstalled it. This may seem like a minor issue to some, but it is turning me off to Gigabyte motherboards as I find it very frustrating because EasyTune is so close to being a useful tool. Personally, I'm becoming more interested in cool and quiet operation these days rather than overclocking.

Pros: -Nice and neat

5 out of 5 eggssimple but powerful board

Pros: great board and supper easy to install I was up and running in under 25 minutes from unboxing to windows install.

Cons: not really a con but with recent cases putting power supply at bottom i wish the board makers would adjust the placement of the cpu plug and the memory slots a little cause it almost impossible to install fans ( water coolers) and such cause you right up against these areas. ( i had ot grind down a fan housing to fit it right next to the memory slots in the case. (at least plenty of air goes over the memory on way out of case)

4 out of 5 eggsdecent but not ideal for overclocking

Pros: I overclocked a phenom ii 965 with moderate success.
Recently overclocked a fx 8350 on same board.
4 fan headers
Somewhat nice bios with mouse functionality
Survived multiple case swaps

Cons: There isn't as many bios options as a better board would have.
The secondary pwm header is kind of wierd and I can't really get it to do what I want.
The Sata ports pointing outward is more annoying than I thought it would be
It could do with better heat sinks since higher watt processors get so warm

Other Thoughts: This works as a base motherboard but don't expect to get super high overclocked with it. It gets too hot and there aren't enough options
