1 out of 5 eggsNot even surprised anymore

Pros: Check back in a few months when I get a working one.

Cons: The board was DOA. I would have returned it with Newegg's rather-painless RMA process, but I needed to get pass the three (yes, one more than two) graphics cards that GIGABYTE sent me before that. That took about two months to get through, so now I have to do is with GIGABYTE themselves. That's going about as well as you think.

Other Thoughts: GIGABYTE's supposed to be good, but after four—and counting—broken parts from them, I've basically given up on them. Is this how ASUS fanboys are born?

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very good board for the price. Easy to use bios and pretty reliable overclock for my 6350. Has plenty of fan headers for my use since my NZXT case has its own fan hookups.

Cons: Can't really use mouse in bios kinda jumpy and laggy. Has a dual boot type deal where it powers on then off and right back on and starts running. Wish the sata ports were setup differently.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow-up review

Pros: + see my first review

Cons: - see my first review

Other Thoughts: This past weekend I built a second system using this board. The customer for this build selected an FX 8320e CPU and 8GB of Mushkin Blackline DDR3 2133 RAM. The CPU has only been on the market for a couple of weeks so I expected to have to update the BIOS in order for it to be correctly recognized. Much to my surprise, the CPU was correctly recognized in the UEFI without updating!

Once I selected XMP memory profile 1 in the UEFI, the RAM was set to 2134 with correct timings and voltages. This was a pleasant surprise since the specs on Newegg state the board only supports up to 2000 (OC) RAM. The QVL from Gigabyte state faster RAM will be "downgraded" to 2000.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value

Pros: -A lot of feature for its price (USB, connectors, etc)

-The integrated sound is great.

-Really good with the FX line of processors (I use the FX-8350).

Cons: -Its really picky with fan controlling software's for some reasons. I use a manual fan controller so it doesn't affect me.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this board

Pros: None

Cons: Gigabyte support sucks

Other Thoughts: When I took this board out of the package the heatsinks for the north and south bridge fell off. I've spent a week asking for the screws to hold them in place. The heatsinks are threaded, but they won't send me the screws. Four tiny screws I can't find anywhere, maybe $0.40 with postage, are keeping me from using this mobo. Absolutely horrible support, don't waste your money.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap. Decent amount of ports and 6 SATA was nice.

Cons: Apparently not compatible with Windows 8.1, at least not with a new installation. The install process could not find the hard drives regardless of the driver loaded, even though they were recognized in BIOS. Windows 7 installs fine. One of the machines also randomly crashes, and I suspect the motherboard. Will update the review once the issue has been identified.

Other Thoughts: The Gigabyte customer service is pretty bad. It takes 4 days to reply to an open trouble ticket, and are extremely unhelpful.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome!

Pros: Great motherboard for the price.
The layout is nice.

Cons: It wouldn't load xubuntu live cd. I had to enable the iommu in the bios, then everything was good!

1 out of 5 eggsI got a bad one

Pros: Easy installation

Cons: Network adapter didn't work with latest drivers, had problems booting onto thumb drive with 3 different OS's on 2 different thumb drives.

4 out of 5 eggsWell worth the money!

Pros: Only $75, 9 series Northridge, 950 south bridge. 6 sata 6.0 ports, nice heatsinks, am3+ socket. Flashing the bios was easy with Qflash. 2x copper, usb 3.0, looks sharp for a budget, full ATX mobo.

Cons: UEFI bios is not very good. Its confusing and unorganized. Mouse stutters all over the place and so I still just use my keyboard. Its better after a bios update but still not very usable. Also, still haven't figured out how to show core temps in Windows. Shows in bios just fine, it just won't work in Windows. Tried coretemp, speedfan, hwmonitor, occt etc. Other than those minor problems, it's great so far!

Other Thoughts: Better organized bios and it's 5 eggs all day. Zero problems with the board itself.

3 out of 5 eggslinux unfriendly

Pros: Affordable, parts on the board are well labeled. USB mouse/keyboard support in BIOS is nice. Seems like a solid board; I'm sure if I used windows I wouldn't have any complaints.

Cons: Minor: One PCIE slot blocked by heatsink
Major: Linux support is poor.

I used an Ubuntu installer from a USB flash drive. It booted fine, but once Ubuntu started the installer failed with "no medium found." After some googling, I found I needed to enable IOMMU in the BIOS. Did that, was able to install Ubuntu (64 bit, 14.04), but networking wouldn't work. Also a lot of "IO_PAGE_FAULT" messages until I disabled the USB 3.0 controller in the BIOS. I tried flashing the latest BIOS (F2e beta, released 2014/09/01) but no change. I tried various combinations of IOMMU enabled/disabled and kernel options (iommu=soft, iommu=pt, amd_iommu=on) but could never get on the network.

Final solution: Bought a cheap network card. F2e BIOS, IOMMU enabled, USB 3.0 disabled (may not be necessary if you're ok with kernel load errors), no kernel options.

Other Thoughts: No IDE
Manual has enough information to be helpful, but isn't very detailed.
