5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased

Pros: My knowledge is limited when it come to building computers, but this mother board not only had instructions but even some of the components labeled on the board itself.

Cons: Had difficulty installed in chosen case as though screw line up, the screws that came with case were too short/motherboard was too thick. Hope the motherboard does not fall/break/wiggle loose and become damaged.

2 out of 5 eggsShuts off under load

Pros: Powers on and runs ok for light loads (web surfing, MS Word, etc) that doesn't demand much from the CPU.

Cons: Shuts off when under load. I am not over clocking and everything is running at stock voltages with good cooling. Even when then the CPU and GPU are running in the low 50s the system shuts off suddenly if I run any game or otherwise put a meaningful load on it.

Too bad figured it wasnt a CPU or GPU heat issue until after the 30 day warranty.

Other Thoughts: I've done builds with Gigabyte boards in the past without issue. I have never had to make a warranty claim, but the first time I attempt to make a warranty claim to the manufacture their site says my board is out of warranty.

My last board was Gigabyte and worked great but needed to be upgraded. Sadly, I do not feel confident about Gigabyte boards.

BTW, this is not an issue with Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer BeWare!!!!

Pros: N/A

Cons: DOA, I should of know something was wrong when I opened the box and there was tape on the Static Discharge Bug, then there was no shield on the CPU. After putting my entire system together what do I get for my trouble no POST and after 4 hour wasted troubleshooting I give in......

Other Thoughts: This is the first time I got a DOA from NewEgg. I read alot of review of DOA from other users but I never thought it would happen to me....Now to RMA

1. Be sure the CPU is supported by this motherboard, for CPU support list please go to the GIGABYTE website.

2. Check memory requirement and memory installation, be sure the memory is/are seated properly. You may test the board with a single stick to rule a single bad stick of memory.

3. Be sure the ATX 24-Pin and ATX 12V 4 or 8-Pin are plugged in firmly into the board.

4. Check for visible bent or broken pin(s) in the CPU itself (AMD CPU).

5. If you have an add-on video card installed, please check if the card requires additional powers 4, 6, or 8 Pin PCIE power.

6. Test the board on a non-conductive surface or test bench to rule out the grounding possibility.

7. Check monitor for video input selection, VGA, DVI, or HDMI.

8. Avoid using any video adapter or KVM switch.

9. Test with different video cable.

10. Clear the CMOS by taking out the CMOS battery from the battery socket, leave it out for 5 minutes and place it back after that (positive side faces up).

3 out of 5 eggsGigabyte takes forever.

Pros: Good board. Layout is nice.

Cons: Gigabyte sent me a board with a loose northbridge so it was overheating. I sent them my board for a RMA it got there on a wednesday( according to USPS tracking) and they didn't even get it in their warehouse until Friday afternoon.

Other Thoughts: They need to be fast on there RMA replacements. Not sure if I'm going to buy another gigabyte because this was my first one and It was a bad product.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Board

Pros: Rock solid, the cheapest 8+2 phase board you can get, most for the 990's don't even have 8+2 for less than $160. For shame MSI, that's what made you my brand through the 700 and 800's, oh well guess we couldn't last forever. Looks awesome, great scheme. VRM's and northbridge run cool. Great BIOS as far as looks and interface, lots of options, it reads XMP profiles. I hate bloatware, but there OC Tuner is actually nice, I don't use cpu-z and hwmonitor on this one. the SATA and USB 3.0 is faster than my Intel machine thanks to the superior chipset . runs my FX-6300 just fine, OC's very nicely.

Cons: The northbridge sink is very lose, I'm not even sure there's any thermal interface under it, as soon as i can fiind new push pins I'll take care of that.

3 out of 5 eggsBios Update Needed ?

Pros: Good price considering the feature set. Very close to the 990 boards at a lower price. Excellent north bridge and VRM cooling. No lack of USB connectivity. Features 8+2 power phase not typically found on mother boards at this price level.
Good all around board layout.

Cons: Although board works perfectly fine using default optimized bios settings, the problems start when the settings are changed. Just turning off "Turbo mode" causes a double post during startup & restart which causes the DVD drive to emit a grinding noise (since it was already spinning from the first attempted start). When overclocked (nothing crazy just 4.2 ghz) computer would occasionally freeze on restart at bios load necessitating a complete power shutdown to be able to reboot. Since I bought this MB to do some mild overclocking (FX 8320) these issues are quite irritating. I went as far as swapping out the power supply & memory for others that I had on hand but the same problems persisted.

Other Thoughts: With a bios update (presently at F1) this motherboard would be a fantastic deal.
