5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Very nice board. Full ATX, no funny business. Nice audio for on board, no surprises. Not expensive.

Cons: AMD 970 chipset is old, but this isn't the fault of Gigabyte.

Other Thoughts: The AMD FX series only remain effective in the price/performance aspect. If you are considering this board, it is good for the price but you need to pair it with an FX chip that is equally good for the price. Also, not really a good choice for Grandma's computer since FX chipsets haven't supported integrated video in awhile (760G--even older). Buying an external video card for a non-gaming machine cuts into the price/performance ratio of the computer dramatically.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked good for a month, then freezing and black screens

Pros: Layout worked well for me.
Quality look to the board.
Wide upgrade path w/1866 mem. compatibility
Has all the bells and whistles needed for a "internet cruiser"
Good price.

Cons: Worked for about a month then random freezes and black screens, making it necessary to reboot. Changed video drivers (on ATI HD3450)...no help. Changed card to a Geforce but it just progressively got worse. All the other suspects checked out: Voltages, memory, temperatures, etc. Which brought me here. Unfortunately it seems several buyers have had the same exact symptoms. Looks like I will need to RMA this motherboard.

Other Thoughts: I've been buying computer parts from NewEgg for probably a decade. Besides a damaged refurb video card, this is my first bad NEW part :)

3 out of 5 eggsRan into some issues with Linux

Pros: A ton of USB ports, a ton of SATA connectors, connectors for sound and USB on the front of the case, good performance, overall good stuff.

Cons: I kinda expected to be able to plug and play this with Linux (Ubuntu 14.04) and found that I was quite mistaken. Fortunately, enabling IOMMU and passing in amd_iommu=on and iommu=soft kernel parameters at boot seems to have fixed things but I still ran into another weird issue yesterday. Just be prepared for some troubleshooting if you want to use this with Linux.

2 out of 5 eggsbeen having problems

Pros: worked on and off for a while.

Cons: I will tell you of a story: The day I received this board, I put it together and it started up really well; I just didn't have internet for some reason. I turn it off and head to bed for the night. The next day, I go to turn on my system and play a CD. The CD plays all the way through and then the computer shuts down. turns out my power supply died. get a quick replacement from my friend while I wait for my replacement psu.

I eventually get my new power supply; a 750 watt psu. I plug it in and everything works. my graphics card was ready to be used and I put it in and now my screen won't even turn on. I even switched cards with an older card that I had and it didn't work. I've contacted gigabyte a few times already and all I have received is suggestions on how to get the board to possibly work; while helpful does not pertain to my specific situation. If at all possible, I would like to use this chance to ask for an RMA for the board and get another one.

4 out of 5 eggsNo Video

Pros: A good stable Motherboard with a lot of features for the price.

Cons: Screen went black a couple days after start-up. Shipped it to Gigabyte and in about 1½ weeks it was returned and it has performed well ever since. This is my 5th Gigabyte motherboard and the 1st I've had problems with. I would defiantly buy another board from them.

5 out of 5 eggsgigabyte ga 970a ud3p am3+

Pros: Great board for a low budget. No issues. Bios up to date. Basically plug and play.

Cons: Must research compatable memory at gigabyte site. Certain memory is not compatable as far as using 2 DIMMs ( only one will work)

3 out of 5 eggsIt can only handle what it wants to

Pros: This mother board is as it states it is fast and at a good price and bios are very good at reconizing plug and play, also when installing windows from a USB drive I didnt have to go back in and change the loadup settings from HDD to SSD to USB even with them pluged up ..wow.

Cons: Well this is the issue, the board doesn't run hot. Did a bench test with AMD FX-8320 and it intermittenly shut down. I removed MSI 750 card, ran for 1hour then shut down. I removed SSD etc.etc etc.. and every time it would shut down. the next day my son used the computer for 3 hours stright and it never shut down. 2 days later it would shut down and i would have to complete power down from the power supply to get it to turn back on. It has been doing this off and on now... I tried a new PS and it did the same thing ran for an hour then shut down... then it ran then rebooted itself out of no where when my son was gaming.... other than that there is not much too bad i can say for this board.

Other Thoughts: My son and i like this board it was his first build so im not too upset I also like Gigabyte products too, but If you can put up with the spotty shut downs and restarts it will work but dont be too surprised if in the middle of a game or work that if you didnt save your file you may have just lost it. As far as now it has no other issues beside the shut downs

1 out of 5 eggsabsolute garbage

Pros: they took my money and processed fast.

Cons: doesn't work. my computer started to turn off randomly and gradually faster as time went on. i suspected the power supply, but after i RMA the power supply and it's fine i start talking to someone who knows more than i do and they ask me questions about my issues, turns out it's the motherboard.

i tried to RMA the motherboard but their site says they "already have your information" ok... so i should use my email(the designated login for them) and just retrieve my password right? no. "no account under this email" or something close to that. funny though, i only use one email. ok then.

so take my money and give me a broken motherboard. i will never infect my system with your sub par equipment again.

if one of them responds to this i will laugh, it's their "face" of customer support trying to make the company look good. you do a great job and i respect you, but the equipment is garbage.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA Motherboard

Pros: None

Cons: I ordered this part back in December, just before I went out of the country for a month, thinking it would be a nice present to myself when I got back.

First time I try to install, nothing, CPU fan spins then stops. Computer will not post, and will not boot. Nothing, I take apart everything and put it back together. Then take it to a fellow PC enthusiast who has built multiple computers. He cannot figure it out either.
I reinstall my old motherboard and everything works.

I sent it in to Gigabyte hoping they figure out what was wrong. I got it sent back to me about a month later, and without even a summary what they found or didn't find.

I figured it would be fixed, but I attempt to install again, and nothing. Same problem. I figure it must be one of my parts, so I tried to install it into another computer with compatible parts....and surprise no luck.

Now I am sadly stuck with a dead mother board, that two computers have failed to power up on.

5 out of 5 eggsgigabyte is ok!

Pros: Works great. great speeds with fast boot times. stable. I left an earlier review that was 1 egg, but it was my error.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had trouble after building my system. I orderd a new raidmax case with 430 watt powersupply. The PS would not run this mobo. I switched the PS from a working pc. it was an older antec 500 watt PS. still wouldn't boot. I applied for an RMA and then ordered two new 530 watt PS. thankfully I did not return the motherboard. after installing a new power supply everything worked beautifully, if you are upgrading an old system or using a cheap power supply, please don't make the same mistake I did.
