1 out of 5 eggs2 boards gone bad

Pros: Worked great when they worked. Two boards both lasting about 90 days each.

Cons: I've used Gigabyte products going all the way back to the AMD K-6 days and never had a problem. However this model board has failed twice with each board lasting just over 3 months. The first board refusing to power on with beep codes pointing to memory problems. The memory was check on a second board, different brand, and found ok, so reinstalled everything to that board.

The first board was RMA'd and Gigabyte sent a replacement. Total RMA time was just over 3 1/2 weeks. Not having a cpu or memory to install on it, I waited a bit before getting a second cpu and memory to setup another system. Now the second board again ran just over 3 months before failing. Again it won't post at power on, so I pulled all the components off the Gigabyte and installed them on a borrowed friends board and there has no problems at all.

Other Thoughts: Don't know just what is going on with this board but I'm not going to waste time and money doing a RMA again. I still recommend the Gigabyre products to friends but just not this board.

1 out of 5 eggsRAID Will Not Work as Specified. RMA proccess asks for credit info.

Pros: Price. Specifications look good. It didn't come DOA.

Cons: I cannot recommend this board if you are going to use the RAID controller. SATA ports 0-3 will not support the RAID levels shown in the specifications. I have been extremely disappointed the technical "support" I received.

Here is an actual response from the team at Gigabyte after a 5 disk array failed.

"Question: BIOS showed only three hard drives in the RAID volume on restart. Previously, the RAID contained five hard drives. How can I prevent this in the future?

11/6/2015 2:28 PM

Answer: In this case you will need to recreate the raid structure and start over, raid 5 can only allow for 1 drive to get dropped. We are unable to determine what happen during the rebuilding process. If raid is a critical feature in your setup and data are important it would be suggested to look into a hardware raid controller card instead of using it on software based."

Other Thoughts: Edit: Please note that in all my communication with Gigabyte, not once was an RMA suggested or issued. The last line of their response is unacceptable. Basically, I am being told that even the board's manufacturer would not recommend their product for data retention. Instead, it's kindly suggested I spend more money.

UPDATE: I bought this board last fall and had issues right away. Now the front USB ports randomly quit working. I see that after this product has dropped two full eggs since I've bought it, the manufacturer seems willing to address some people's issues. The business of holding my credit card number is fine. But I have to ask this: In a company that sells short on quality, and the customer service so is terrible, how can anyone be sure their information is safe?

I sincerely wish I hadn't bought a Gigabyte product. I am very unsatisfied.

1 out of 5 eggsGraveyard! Rereview

Pros: Worked great for a few minutes at a time.

Cons: Randomly reboots!

Other Thoughts: Bought all new components. After 1st build-out I couldn't load W7 without randomly rebooting. I finally got it to load w/older SSD but it would still randomly reboot. Gigabyte tech support had me change out all components one by one with the same results. Finally they decided to "fix" the MB. Spent $12 to RMA. Fairly quick to return it. My guess is they put it in another box and shipped it back because it still was the same. After 7 months of frustration I ordered an ASUS MB thru another source. Back to the original build w/new MB everything worked perfectly. I've been ordering from Newegg forever and I probably can't blame them but I will continue ordering from another source and never Gigabyte. Anyone need a useless boat anchor?

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great until it didn't

Pros: - Had an issue during setup and the second tech I got wasn't an idiot.
- Setup was fairly easy
- Good price

Cons: - Only worked for 6 months and then one day it just stopped POSTing. No beep but it would power on and fans would spin. After systematically removing part by part until only the mb remained, it still wouldn't POST.
- No one at support knew what the heck POST is or what a proper troubleshooting method is for motherboard issues. After using the word POST about 10x ("The motherboard isn't POSTing" and "I'm getting no indication that POST is succeeding or even running" and "After removing all devices, it still won't POST") I said "beep" instead of "POST" and the person went "Oh. It's not beeping?" WHAT THE HECK DO YOU THINK I'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS WHOLE TIME?! Then he still asked me to try 1 stick of RAM again. SMH. If you don't know what I mean when I say it won't POST, ask me. Don't just keep going and assume I'm nuts.
- Warranty repair took 3 weeks and who knows if it will work when I get it back and for how long.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte is good and things like this happen. At least they honored the warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsNo issues at all

Pros: I did not run into any issues at all. I have had the motherboard for roughly 4 months no and it is running strong. Plug and play for people that are tech savvy. I do over clock my ram and cpu. The bios is pretty simple and is dumbed down a lot for those looking to over clock for the first time. If you accidentally over do things, mess up the bios you have the ability to just hit the built in button attached to the board to reset and retune it. Dual bios so you can set it up for gaming needs or what ever you are into as far as a media computer for streaming of low power consumption users.

Cons: I have none

1 out of 5 eggsGet another board

Pros: has 6x SATA iii ports
AM3+ socket
Dual BIOS
lots of USB ports

Cons: this board is not for you if you plan to overclock, the 970 Chipset in general does not like overclocking

Other Thoughts: its ok for standard use, sucks for anything else so 1 egg.
