Build your system on a solid foundation.

The GIGABYTE GA-G1.Sniper A88X Motherboard is packed with absolutely everything you'll need to build an uncompromising, high-performance gaming PC. Based on AMD A88X chipset, it is ready to accommodate the current generation APU in FM2 packaging, and the next generation "Kaveri" in FM2+ packaging. Loaded with advanced audio technologies, maxed out multi-card gaming support, advanced cooling, and a high-quality heatsink design, this unit is the ultimate choice for serious PC gamers.

  • newegg USB DAC-UP port and Upgradable Onboard OP-AMP Featuring a gold plated USB 2.0 port, GIGABYTE USB DAC-UP provides clean, noise-free power delivery to your Digital-to-Analog Converter. DACs can be sensitive to fluctuations in power from the other USB ports, which is why GIGABYTE USB DAC-UP takes advantage of an isolated power source that minimizes potential fluctuations and ensures the best audio experience possible. GIGABYTE motherboards are the world’s first to feature an onboard operational amplifier (OP-AMP), allowing users to physically switch out and try different OP-AMPs which offer distinct and nuanced properties that make the audio clearer, punchier and more life-like. Additional OP-AMPs can be purchased separately to further expand audio capabilities.
  • newegg Gain Boost and Nichicon Pro Audio Caps To further optimize the audio experience provided by the onboard OP-AMP, GIGABYTE motherboards also debut Gain Boost. Gain Boost provides onboard switches to select between 2.5x and 6x amplification modes depending on speakers or headphones being used. The GIGABYTE G1.Sniper A88X motherboard uses the highest quality Nichicon High End Audio Capacitors at each channel layout. These professional audio capacitors deliver the highest quality sound resolution and sound expansion to create the most realistic sound effects for professional gamers.
  • newegg Audio Noise Guard and Gold Audio Plated Hardware To help protect and insulate the Realtek ALC898 audio processor and onboard amplifiers from electrostatic interference (ESD), the GIGABYTE G1.Sniper A88X motherboard features an audio noise guard that essentially separates the board’s sensitive analog audio components from potential ESD pollution at the PCB level. LED trace path lighting illuminates to show the separation of the PCB layers. The GIGABYTE G1.Sniper A88X motherboard uses top quality gold plated hardware for improved connectivity and long lasting durability for the USB DAC-UP port and audio connectors. Gold has superb signal conductivity and will not tarnish over extended periods of use. The Realtek ALC898 audio processor is also shielded by a gold-plated cover which eliminates electrostatic interference.
  • newegg GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 4 Plus All New Heat Sink Design - GIGABYTE motherboards feature new heatsink designs that offer uncompromisingly efficient cooling on key areas of the motherboard including the PWM area and chipset. GIGABYTE motherboards offer excellent cooling of the crucial APU power delivery area, ensuring even the most aggressive and extreme configurations will be kept well within optimal thermal parameters. Ultra Performance - GIGABYTE uses All Solid Caps (Capacitors) and Low RDS(on) MOSFETs which are rated to work at higher temperatures to provide a longer lifespan. Ultra Safe - GIGABYTE motherboards feature GIGABYTE DualBIOS, an exclusive technology from GIGABYTE that protects arguably one of your PC's most crucial components, the BIOS. GIGABYTE DualBIOS means that your motherboard has both a 'Main BIOS' and a 'Backup BIOS', making users protected from BIOS failure due to virus attack, hardware malfunction, improper OC settings or power failure during the update process.
  • newegg High ESD protection for USB and LAN (USB3.0 only) GIGABYTE motherboards raise the bar in terms of protecting your system, providing advanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for both your Ethernet LAN and USB ports, both common sources of ESD-related failures. Each LAN and USB port is paired with a dedicated protection filter that can withstand high electrostatic discharges, protecting your system from common electrical surges and even direct lighting strikes.
  • newegg One fuse per USB port (USB3.0 only) On GIGABYTE motherboards each USB port has its own dedicated power fuse that prevents unwanted USB port failure, helping to safe guard your important data during transfer.

1 out of 5 eggsBad Purchase

Pros: None, I can't even get the BIOS to boot.

Cons: I bought this when the new AMD A10-7850K Kaveri came out in Jan 14, but due to my military service, I wasn't able to put it together. After having to deal with a power supply issue, I found out that this MOBO had not had the BIOS flashed to work with this processor. And to top off my problems I no longer have the packaging to return the MOBO, at my cost to correct this manufacturing problem. Just shy of dumping it all in the garbage.

2 out of 5 eggsBad

Pros: Not sure

Cons: Most unstable board I've used in years. I'm not overclocking or anything even. Board will randomly drop sata ports, and not even the same ports. Have to reset CMOS to fix it and set everything back up. Tried so many different variation of things and nothing This board is just junk. I'm going back to MSI.

1 out of 5 eggsone of two boards does not work

Pros: I bought two of these mainboards. One of them worked fine.

Cons: The other mainboard does not boot at all. I can't even get a BIOS screen on the VGA or DVI ports.

when power is applied and the power button is pressed, the CPU fan spins and the light pipe is illuminated, but nothing else on the board is functional.

1 out of 5 eggsdoes not boot

Pros: other machine of the same model worked

Cons: machine is powered up, CPU fan spins, green LED lightpipe is lit and runs over half of the board, but no video signal is produced on VGA or DVI output and no activity happens over the network. the machine appears to be dead and there are no troubleshooting or diagnostic indicators to be seen.

1 out of 5 eggsHyped Motherboard

Pros: Looks good and great specs on paper.

Cons: Out of date BIOS. RAID software is not what it should be. Very hard to setup. WIndows 8 did not install. Upon completion of the windows setup and the systems reboots from install it crashes. BSOD it was even orange once. Contacted tech support No help. This wasd suppose to be the best motherboard available for the new AMD 7850K APU. After this monster build I've decided to go back to Blue (Intel). At least with them you can at least install Windows without it crashing. GIGABYTE use to make good motherboards. I will be using ASUS or MSI for future builds. This should have been a very easy build. Trust me it has been a nightmare. GIGABYTE"S Tech Support needs better trained techs that know their products. I'm very disappointed, wish that I could get my money back and purchase an Intel platform. Buyer Beware!

5 out of 5 eggsWOW - Deeeeeaaaad Quiet

Pros: Folks are not giving this board the credit it was "designed" for. AKA, Bad-@ss audio quality! <---BAM, Right there.

Go elsewhere if this is not your main objective.

--Deathly silent gold plated dedicated power and isolated PCB USB DAC-UP port and audio connectors.--

I have *never* heard better sound quality form any PC system. All voice calls through Skype and my other soft-phone client are *crystal* clear. The folks on the other end of the call regularly mention my voice being so clear. I have not heard better sound quality on any other phone system including the dedicated land-line versions on everyone's corporate office environment desk.

That's music to my ears, because I spend nearly 6 hours continuously a day making 200+ calls.

Fyi, I use a Turtle Beach x12 headset. It has a very nice 'condenser' microphone that picks up the full range of your voice. This guarantees the clearest fullest signal leaving my PC to the end caller, playing the best sound quality to their handset.

Cons: System builders, when building you new system BREADBOARD first = Zero headache.

That is, install the RAM and PSU to the Mobo (graphics card if not integrated) and set them up carefully on a piece of cardboard then turn it on(do not put in the case yet).

Listen for the POST beeps and continue adding one component at time, until it's built. Do it by the numbers and works the first time, every time.

No-Headache when building PC's = Dell. If PC's where easy to build from scratch, we wouldn't have Dell.

Other Thoughts: I will never consider another MoBo unless it has the same or more features that focus on superb audio quality.
Here's my build:
Rosewill Case CHALLENGER
AMD Athlon X4 AD750K
G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB/1866
R9 290x card
NZXT HALE82-N NP-1BN-0750A-US 750W ATX12V
Tripp Lite ISOBLOK (Quiet power from the start, plug your cable modem and router into this and it'll bump internet speed another 20-40%)
Windows 8.1 (love it, hated the learning curve!)
-Total build time to fully running system with all updated drivers installed, 18-20 hours. Yes, I took a little tinkering to get her up and going! But, it was lot of fun and the pay-off was very rewarding!

4 out of 5 eggsGIGABYTE GA-G1.Sniper A88X FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Very good looking premium motherboard. Very durable and comes with many features. Love the green led trail. This motherboard got everything you'll need to build an high end gaming pc.

Cons: Didn't came with the latest BIOS out of the box. So I have to take it to my local computer store and ask them to flash the bios to support FM2+ A10 7850k APU that i'll be using alongside my motherboard. Only took couple of minutes and it was ready to be use.

I didn't bother RMA it to the Gigabyte to flash the bios as that will take couple of weeks which I couldn't wait.

In addition to the cost of the motherboard I have to pay for the cost of flashing bios. So all in all i pay roughly $200 on this motherboard. Very hefty price for this motherboard.

Other Thoughts: My build

1 out of 5 eggsSniper MB Failures

Pros: Looks nice. Easy to flash bios. Gigabyte support answered e-mails within 24 hours.

Cons: On-board video issues and bios failure right out of the box. Updated bios to latest setting and bios failure messages were resolved. However, the on board video never worked. MB worked with video card only. Never was stable throughout testing. Spent way too much time trying to get it to work.

Other Thoughts: Took AMD A8-6600 processor and AMD Memory and put in another brand A88X MB and its working flawlessly. I have several MB from Gigabyte including an M3 Sniper. This board unfortunately doesn't live up to normal Gigabyte standards. Now I have a pickle... Do I throw it out as a bad investment... are do I spend more money trying to get Gigabyte to fix it.... 50% failure rate doesn't look promising. Would be nice for another option.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your comments. We apologize for your difficulty with your GIGABYTE product. Please contact us at newegg-support@gigabyteusa.com with the case number 108158 in the e-mail subject line. Will the onboard graphics work by removing the add-on graphics card? Since onboard graphics will become disable when installing the graphics card.
