2 out of 5 eggsPoor Build Quality

Pros: - Three digital video ports and an 1150 capability for low price. However, if you are looking for a three monitor solution from the onboard video, do your homework and search the Intel ARK menu under chipsets and it will show that the H81 only supports two separate monitors.

Cons: - Gigging three eggs for faulty quality. There should NEVER be issues with usb ports this far into the technology.
- None of the usb 3.0 ports on the back work. Period. Dead. I loaded drivers from disk and when that didn't work, loaded the most recent drivers from the website. Nada.
- I installed 8gb of ram and there's only 3.4gb available for use according to windows. What?! Went into the bios and it won't even tell me how many gbs of ram are installed or allow any configuration for it. Brought the ram home, thinking bad stick (what else would I think?) and installed it on my computer....works great.

Other Thoughts: - It's going back for something else.

5 out of 5 eggsBasic Touch

Pros: Does what you need it to do, back panel os usb ports is a huge Pro, 3.0 usb slots everywhere!
Very basic and sturdy. Exactly what you pay for. No DOA on my end. No Bios issues but, I just did a basic installed, bios UI was impressive was user friendly for first time custom computer builder.

Cons: Wish it looked cooler but, you know you pay for what you get. Wish i had more ram slots or more spaces from cpu slot but, again price. Not going to knock off eggs for a bargain for extra features I wanted but Didn't want to pay more.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my 4690K i5 for a new build.
First time combining mobo and cpu, no problems with board. Very basic 2 ram slots and lots of USB ports. Using it for simple gamming rig set up, 1 video card, and two rams. So yap no problems. Would reccomend, cheap and does what you need it to do.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems OK, only supports 2 graphics outputs

Pros: UEFI BIOS feel like playing Starfox on N64.
Cheap

Cons: You cannot use 3 graphics outputs at the same time.

Other Thoughts: ASUS/ASRock boards easily and consistently support 3 outputs at a time. After spending a while with Gigabyte trying to find out what was wrong with these boards it was determined by them that they will not and cannot support 3 simultaneous outputs.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent budget bords

Pros: Lots of USB ports and headers for additional ports. Multiple PCIe slots. Kind of rare for a budget board. Multiple built in video outputs. Bought two of these to build new machines for my kids to support Win 10 upgrades. I just got them upgraded and am pretty happy so far. Will update if anything changes after a few weeks of use.

Cons: Only 2 DIMM slots. Doesn't support faster than 1600 RAM.

My big complaint is that the board does not support Win 10 out of the box. Heck, the BIOS update needed to support 10 wasn't even released until almost 2 weeks after the official release of 10 itself. If you are buying this board with the intent to install Win 10 make sure you upgrade to BIOS version FB or newer as soon as possible.

Other Thoughts: Noticed a fair number of people complaining about things in their reviews that have nothing to do with the boards themselves. Any vendor will have a certain amount of DOA equipment, not matter how good their quality controls. I also don't see what a problem with the rebate vendor or the user's failure to inspect new equipment (couldn't RMA because they let the board sit around for a month before use) has to do with the quality of the product itself. As with any electronics purchase, verify the product works in a reasonable amount of time. Sheesh!

Pros: It might have been good.

Cons: It arrived dead. Can't return it either because I realized it too late.

2 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: *Great placement of PCI and plugs
*solid build

Cons: Worst mobo I have ever bought. Bios is f'ed up beyond the time to fix it. PCI slot have hard time reading any cards

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte really messed up the Bios on this mobo. It does not know how to boot to windows and will destroy hard drives you try to install windows on. The board will sometimes read the PCI slot cards and sometimes wont. I have tested 2 gpu's that I know work and a wireless card that I know work also on a diff system. I sent back this mobo for another to see if it was just mine along with the ssd that i was installing windows on. Got the board back and the ssd. Installed windows on a diff system to make sure it was installed correctly and the bios still had a problem with it. The PCI slot still had problems too.

5 out of 5 eggsGigabyte GA-H81M-HD3

Pros: Lots of features on this board for the price . 3 ways to connect a monitor . Plenty of USB ports (6 rear and 4 case ports) compared to other Matx boards . Booted right up . SATA 6gb and USB 3.0 of course . Adequate amount of expansion ports again more than most other Matx boards .

Cons: No cons for me here . Used this in a customer build and no complaints .

Other Thoughts: I'm usually an Asus fan but since I recently had the absolute worst RMA experience with them recently I've ventured into other brands and kinda glad I did . Gskill Ripjaws and Pentuim G3250 Muskin enhanced ecco2 worked great with this board .

5 out of 5 eggsCore i3 Upgrade Kit EIG3140 (as a whole)

Pros: The GA-H81M-HD3 Motherboard, 8GB GSKILL ARES DDR3 RAM, and Core i3 4330 are all compatible together and work well. Combined with my ATI Radeon R5 series 2 GB HD video card , I have no lag at all in MMO games such as Marvel heroes 2015 and I have not tweaked any overclock settings in Bios yet. I love the default performance, it is an amazing jump up from the Core 2 Duo system I had before!

Cons: None yet!

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this upgrade kit/bundle 100% to someone who wants to do a budget gamer build.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good motherboard

Pros: This is a pretty good motherboard. It is cost effective and it delivers the core capabilities of the Intel H81 chipset and some others.

Some of the features:
- USB 3.0
- 4K HDMI
- 7.1 Audio
- SATA 6 GB/s
- Named BIOS configuration profiles

I have tested this motherboard with Windows 10 Build 10130 and also with openSUSE 13.2 and I have not encountered any hardware compatibility issues.

Cons: I have lost the mouse a couple of times. Once after saving a profile in the BIOS and a couple of other times after system resume following system hibernation.

The board boots very fast or goes past the initialization very fast and so you have to be very quick if you want to go into the BIOS or pick a different boot device. I'd like to be able to configure a timer or extra delay.

I have created a couple of named profiles for some different configurations in the BIOS and it is not saving the BOOT Sequence/drive information as part of the profile. I'd like these profiles to be able to be selected upon system restart or initialization for either testing or booting with different sets of hardware or device characteristics.

Other Thoughts: This is a good motherboard that is very cost effective and delivers a lot of functionality.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to review

Pros: This baby is the sh!z|\|it. Still kickn' it super smooth after almost a year (April, 2014).
-Paired with an Intel i3-4330, and an SSD, this baby smokes up into the Windows 7 desktop in like 6-7 seconds.
-USB 3.0
-SATA 6.0Gb/s
-Display Port
-HDMI

Cons: -It's a Micro ATX form so obviously only 2 RAM slots and limited SATA ports.
-No PCI-E 3.0 and only a 2.0, but that's OK. I am using the onboard video using the Intel i3-4330 CPU to play 4K videos flawlessly.

Other Thoughts: I'm using this as a HTPC to play 4K videos. 4th gen Intel CPUs can handle 4K videos quite well. 3rd gen Intels and AMD CPUs don't do too well unless you have a super uber dedicated graphics card. Did I mention this baby boots up so fast if I just turn away when it's booting up, when I turn back, it's already at the Windows 7 desktop? Shutdowns take seconds only.
