1 out of 5 eggsgreat board while it worked

Pros: performance
price

Cons: reliability

Other Thoughts: board died after four months of use, took a few hours testing each individual component, and to my dismay the motherboard was the culprit.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great match for i7-4770K! Excellent value. Has 2-PCI E 3x16 slots for 2 video cards (4 monitors). BIOS relatively easy for OC by 'average' user skill set. Current OC @ 4.5 MHz is rock solid. (Building computers for myself -and a few others- since 1998)

Cons: A few more USB ports would be nice. 2- PCI Express 3.0 x16, BOTH capable of running @ x16 at the same time, would be nice too.

Other Thoughts: At first, I erroneously blamed this board for issues actually being caused by a intermittently bad SSD! During that very frustrating period I contacted Newegg, and they issued me an RMA, no problem. The Newegg rep was very pleasant, during our RMA discussion.

But before sending it back I took it to a 'real' computer shop. Their tests discovered the bad SSD. Once I replaced the SSD, this board has worked GREAT! Perfectly!

This board is currently running with a 4770K @ 4.5 MHz. with Core Volt @ 1.25. G.Skill DDR3-2666 @ CL11-13-13-35 @ 1.65 V, Samsung 840ProSSD, Corsair i100 H20 Cooler. Idle temps are in the 27-30 range. wPrime test temps 65.
I'm really tickled with this computer, and happy with the way Newegg dealt with me.

PS. Newegg also allowed me to swap out a RAM purchase! A full refund showed up in a very reasonable time on my credit card statement.

I've done business with a lot of computer hardware vendors over the years, and this is why Newegg is still getting my business.

4 out of 5 eggsworked for me

Pros: Easy to build. No problems at all.

Cons: None I'm aware of.

Other Thoughts: Got this board with the "Baseline" build from Max PC. First PC build for me. Super easy. Everything worked as expected.

1 out of 5 eggsThe Gigabyte Saga...Continues

Pros: None

Cons: rma'd twice to gigabyte first time was told everything from we can't find any problems to we replaced the bios chip. Got it back after 4 wks same problem. Was told to rma again. I did. JUST got it back(literally opened box in last five minutes. I did not receive a replacement nor it seems did I get my board back. The board I just received has a standoff and screw in the upper left screw hole (brass) my standoffs are chromed....this is A. not my board. and B. Not a new board. I was told by gigabyte customer service via Newegg that I would receive a replacement. Granted they didn't say it would be new so technically they didn't lie.

Other Thoughts: 4 months and this Mobo has seen exactly ten days of glitch wrought use. A higher end gaming motherboard? Hardly. Any way you look at this I'm out my of the purchase price. When tech support doesn't know how to remove a standoff and screw. You know you're in trouble. Buy ANY other brand but plz don't subject yourself to the experience I've had.

1 out of 5 eggsRaymond F.

Pros: It's green.
This is a follow up review.

Cons: Had a periodic memory error that only occurred at startup. RMA'd took 4 wks to get it back. Called after three was told it wasn't a hardware issue they would check software the following day. Called 4 days later was told it would be shipped back day following. 6 days later I got it back. Re-assembled...same problem. Contacted gigabyte via newegg sounded as if they would require me to ship it off again but they said they'd get back to me today. They haven't. Emailed this morning both rma dept and neweggs contact for gigabyte. Nothing. No reply.

Other Thoughts: Why even offer a warranty if you can't remedy customer problems?
Specs
I7 4770k
16 GB Crucial Tactical Tracer ddr 3 1600 1.5v

Every part functions fine on a m-atx board I had laying around......I now have a paperweight...and 285$ worth of green fans/grills/wiring/fan controllers that won't go with whatever mobo I have to purchase to replace this.

Veteran builder of custom machines used gigabyte for over a decade w/out issue. Make it right Gigabyte.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems with SSD detection/maintaining contact with SSD

Pros: Very good price vs. features match.

Cons: Unfortunately, even with F3 bios version installed this mobo is unable to maintain contact (detection) of SSD's. There will be an initial detection of the SSD, but within several bootups the mobo loses contact with the SSD. No matter which SATA connector is used and even changing cables out, this board constantly loses connection with SSD's. Considering that SSD's are normally used as your OS install drive - this basically makes this mobo unusable if you want to use an SSD for OS root drive purposes.
New Win 7 Pro w/SP1 install, I7-4770k, 4mb DDR3, SanDisk 120gb SSD "SDSSDH-120G0G25" @ SATA 3Gb/s, 2 other HDD's @ 6 Gb/s.

Other Thoughts: Would have been a nice simple upgrade from lga-1366 w/ I7-920 to z87/haswell.... but it did not work out that way. I have been a long time buyer/user of ASUS mobo's and decided to give this Gigabyte mobo a try due to a variety of positive "professional reviewer" reviews.... but as an experienced standard user/individual my experience with this board does not match that of the reviews. I am contemplating going through with the RMA process to attempt to switch over to the ASUS equivalent (only have 30 days to do so).

1. Are you using the latest firmware for the SSD?

2. Have you tried testing the SSD on another machine to rule out the possibility?

4 out of 5 eggsRan great with bent pins.

Pros: Fantastic features on the board. The onboard audio is top quality. Wasn't a fan of the UEFI BIOS, but you can run it in a more classic looking mode, which was more comfortable for me. Plenty of SATA connectors and USB ports. During testing, the on-PCB power button and digital POST code readout proved incredibly helpful. First Gigabyte board.
Ran this and a i5 Haswell/4670k, among other parts.
Not going to 1-egg it because of something out of Newegg's hands.
4-eggs because the thing ran...and ran VERY well with bent pins and RAM in single channel mode.

Cons: Was getting a POST Code of 15, and memory would only run in single channel mode. After 6 days of troubleshooting (exhausting every option before checking the socket), it was time to check the CPU and socket.
Bent pins were the culprit. Just sent it out for an RMA today... but I have to say, the system was remarkably stable and well-performing even with the bent pins, and RAM in single channel mode.

Other Thoughts: Not unhappy with Gigabyte, or the board... bent pins happen. More upset at the inconvenience than anything else. Once I have the replacement board, I'll update the review... I want this to perform well, and I think it will.
If the RMA board has bent pins, then I'll be switching brands, and not returning to GIgabyte.
