4 out of 5 eggsGreat budget board with some shiny additions

Pros: Great little 1150 gaming board for those on a budget

+Green fit the theme nicely

+SATA port location is great

+On-board "Amp-Up!" audio is fantastic, great addition and a nice thing to see on a budget board, typically (in my own experience) these kinds of features are reserved for enthusiast and professional grade boards, but it's present and it works great.

Definitely a noticeable improvement in sound quality and clarity over your average on-board sound chip, very pleased. It's definitely not a novelty feature, it performs.

+Audio "path lighting" has got to be one of the neatest things I've ever seen on a motherboard, ever, and it looks awesome. I wasn't even fully aware that it would be so vivid and nice looking, I assumed it to be gimmicky so I had purchased this board almost outright disregarding this feature.

I was wrong, adds a nice green accent to an already black & green themed build. Excellent feature and I want to see more of this kind of thing on future board designs.

+Supports xfire/SLI if you have or want a dual card setup.

+Does everything I needed it to, if all you need is a solid gaming board without *most* of the frivolous bells and whistles, this is highly recommended. Watch for other reviews though, as it seems some other customers have experienced BIOS related issues and a few DOA boards.

Mine arrived fine though, and my 4690k slapped right in, posted first try. All is well some handful of months later and it's performing as it should.

Cons: -I'm really "not a fan" of the placement of the SYSFAN headers 1 & 2, it's just always awkward for me when case fan headers are in the center of the board. I like them at least somewhere near the side to aid in an easier wiring job as well as an overall cleaner system interior. I like the face of my board to be as free of cutter as possible.

-Input/output jacks are a real pain, especially when you're unfortunate like myself and your front panel inputs on your case are defective. Getting up in the dark to switch jacks or plug/unplug things, well... it would be nice if they were color coded. BETTER STILL! Add a little length of that audio path lighting to illuminate a small ring around the inputs/outputs! At the very least, illuminate the primary audio output jack please!

Other Thoughts: Took half an egg off for SYSFAN header 1 & 2 placement, it's just a pet peeve of mine that, although I was well aware of, still is worth complaining about. Put it near the edge, I don't mind cpu headers being centered as that's where they'll usually end up anyways, but case fan excess belongs behind the board, and when eventually the cables will have to cross the majority of the board to connect, it results in a poor presentation for systems that have display windows.

Also took half an egg off for lack of color coding on the audio inputs & outputs. I understand gold-plating and the purposes behind it, but there must be a way to either illuminate the jacks by color or something else to make finding the right jack in the dark a bit simpler.

It's a great budget board and I can recommend it, it would make a very solid board for someone's first build.

1 out of 5 eggsDoA Bad RMA

Pros: Nice layout. Neat lights

Cons: Board was DOA. I received the board 10 days ago and tried to e-mail newegg. Today I did a chat and began the RMA process, but that will take more than a week to complete. I wish this board had "enhanced RMA" or whatever the parlance is to allow for shipment of a new board while RMA processing is occurring.

Other Thoughts: I intend to change this review once I receive the replacement.

4 out of 5 eggsBe carefull

Pros: Board is well laid out. Green trace is interesting. The sound is outstanding (to me). Hear subtle things that I did not hear before.

Cons: Motherboard (v1.1) came with the F.5 BIOS. To bad I ordered a processor that required the F.6 BIOS. Of course, there was no way to tell what version of BIOS the board shipped with when I ordered the board. Gigabyte tech support was great. Got to talk to them right away. Said my problem was probably the BIOS. Even called me back to see if there was a special mark that indicated the BIOS had been updated; there was no such mark. It would cost me ~ $30 to send the board back and order a better motherboard that would work with my processer. Ordered a $60 processor that would work with the F.5 BIOS instead. Installed the second processor. Updated the firmware; which was very easy. Installed my original processor. Now have a working computer but at a $60 additional cost.

Other Thoughts: The motherboard should of shipped with the F.6 BIOS. Not sure who's fault that it did not. I am not real bitter about having to spend an additional $60 to make my $900 computer work in a timely manner.
Newegg was great also. Gave me an RAM right away to send the motherboard back; even though in the end I did not send it back.

3 out of 5 eggsSimple and efficient

Pros: Simple, efficient design. Great audio card on board and possibility to customize by changing the chip. SATA ports placement is ideal. Nice design, Green Lights.

Cons: Card form facter is a bit shorter and some cases may not have the required screws on the back panel to hold the upper right corner, making memory installation risky. BIOS does not seem to come upgraded which makes some CPU incompatible (won't even post) and you cannot update the BIOS without a CPU... The Irony is razor shard...

Other Thoughts: It apparently came defective for me. First defective item from Newegg or Gigabyte. It may also be that the board is not compatible with certain CPU with some versions of the BIOS. Regardless which of those 2 problems it is, I cannot use it. Still, Gigabyte makes quality product and this is a small blunder.

4 out of 5 eggsG1 Sniper

Pros: The setup was pretty easy, Bios was very nice and loaded everything up,

Cons: The guide is lacking, only motherboard I ever bought without a foldout guide, so read the manual. Had an issue with the board, connected Giga, slow response. they really need a c hat channel for Tech Support.

Other Thoughts: great bang for the buck,. first Giga board, was all ASUS man. but for the money the board is great. Sound is awesome.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent board for the price

Pros: Not much to say, got the board with an I5 combo and so far so good. Coupled with an i5 and GTX660 this thing has chewed up and spit out anything I've thrown at it on Ultra settings (including Crysis 2 maxed out) with a solid 60FPS. Probably not the most "pro" board out there but for the money I'm pretty happy with it.

Cons: My biggest gripe is that the sound port (while robust) isn't color coded and it's kind of a pain trying to figure out what goes where. Also, since the install, I've only seen the units initial start screen once. I don't see a post message it just goes straight into running windows, so to get to the bios i basically just have to hammer away at the delete key and hope that it gets me there. More of an annoyance than anything.

5 out of 5 eggsWow! Green POWER!

Pros: Why does nobody mention the green lights? SO AMAZING! I plugged this baby in and she started up with a purr to compliment my 4670k. The heat sink with the killer symbol and the back plating for your case is also really nifty! Did I mention the audio on this board actually sounds as good as a 30 to 50 dollar sound card? I'm an audiophile so I know :P I hear new sounds I haven't heard in songs, I thought my audio was broken but it was new sounds! What is not to love about this board? Sexy sexy green lights, pleasing black and green lay out, along with A AMAZING BIOS! I can't get over how awesome the bios is.. it's like a fully 3d moving background with easy options.. as if booting from CD/HD couldn't be easy enough!

Cons: Not many cables ( a few sata); not really a con but I am so lazy I don't have extra sata cables! It didn't come with more green lights.. other then that I would say nothing is wrong with this board unless it comes DOA.

Other Thoughts: This board is so awesome. I am getting double the fps in newest titles with the new 4670k, this mobo, and 780gtx... couldn't be happier (well a nice new 1350w PSU would be cool..).

4 out of 5 eggsNot too shabby

Pros: Solid mobo with good performance and capabilities.

Cons: The BIOS that this board ships with is garbage. Had lots of BSOD's and app crashes until I upgraded to F7. Make sure to do that right away.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing wrong

Pros: Has everything you need at a reasonable price point; LGA1150, SATA6Gb, USB3, 4 memory slots.

Cons: Doesn't exactly come with huge amount of accessories - a couple sata cables and nothing else. Not that I needed anything.

Other Thoughts: Starting to do a build with this in it I noticed that none of the 9 or so CD/DVD drives I have laying around in the house are SATA and motherboards these days don't have PATA slots... I don't think anyone uses discs for anything outside OS install anymore anyway :)
