1 out of 5 eggsDon't Just Don't

Pros: Physical design and UEFI

Cons: Everything else. After a few months this board started to break down. Keyboard would light up followed by the mouse. Then sound stopped playing as well. I tried to fix sound by all the methods I could think of but still a no go. This board was to be used in an up coming international mod competition. This has been a real shame.

Other Thoughts: Don't let appearance be your deciding factor. Do your research. Wish it could have worked out.

5 out of 5 eggsNice board, nice green lighting, bad disk included

Pros: Unique mobo being green and black with green path lighting. Bios menu is nice. Had no problems with install or setup.

Cons: Disk included contains so much bloatware. It installed Norton AV. Why would you do that?

Other Thoughts: Looks great in my green build. price is right for a z87.

3 out of 5 eggsComplicated BIOS setup!

Pros: Nice board layout. Easy to install and everything fit. Good User's manual and the APP center software is useful.

Cons: Overly complicated BIOS for anyone other than a dedicated Gamer or over clocker.

Other Thoughts: Over the past several years I have built several computers for myself and family members using ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI motherboards without any problems.
This time I had many problems. Win 7 Pro would not install to an SSD in SATA AHCI mode. Had to use IDE. Then used APP center to switch to AHCI. Now system boots to Win in 6 seconds, but takes twice that to load. Then everything works great!

4 out of 5 eggsYay! Gigabyte

Pros: In response to my previous review and 3-star rating -- Gigabyte Support for Newegg customers has sent a new Alpha BIOS to me which has fixed all issues except for the very minor annoyance of switched SP/DIF port identifications. I can easily live with that. I'm only telling Gigabyte this so that they can get it 100% sorted out in the final BIOS update.

Cons: I didn't mention it in my first review, but there are lip-sync issues between audio outputs and HDMI video output. It would be nice if Gigabyte could offer BIOS or Realtek driver settings to deal with these issues -- one for HDMI (Intel) audio and others for mobo/Realtek (speaker, USB, optical coax, and digital coax) audio output. Right now the USB audio port on the mobo seems to be worse than the other mobo audio ports.

Other Thoughts: Digital audio output quality of this motherboard to an outboard DAC (Peachtree DAC-iTx) is really excellent.

3 out of 5 eggsCan't Get Audio to Work Reliably with I7-4770k IGP

Pros: Nice feature set, Dual UEFI BIOS. Very low power in sleep mode (1.2w) and power-on idle mode (12w). Very low power using Speedstep while watching HDTV (37w). I7-4770k runs relatively cool, even when transcoding using Quick Sync (max 60 deg.C @ about 65w). Fan speed control is very effective for my low noise HTPC build.

Cons: Fulfilled all expectations except for very annoying HDMI and SPDIF sound output issues -- very unreliable. I watch TV via HDMI directly to my TV using Redmere 1.4 cables with audio return via optical cable from the TV to my dedicated DAC SPDIF optical input. I also listen to hi-rez audio via SPDIF coax digital to my outboard DAC. However, I have to constantly reset sound options after sleep mode, power off/on or switching sound output modes. Oddly enough, Win7 Pro shows swapped SPDIF port IDs - I get SPDIF coax only when I select SPDIF optical. I've tried all combinations of Intel driver updates, BIOS updates, Realtek updates, TV firmware updates, etc. Nothing works. Appears to be an Intel CPU & mobo BIOS issue with finger pointing both ways -- customers caught in the middle. Many other mobo brands including Intel's own have the same issue with Haswell CPUs -- do a Google search on "Haswell HDMI handshake problems"

Other Thoughts: Built as a very low noise HTPC without a dedicated GPU. At this point I'm trying to decide if I send the mobo back for a different brand or buy a dedicated GPU or buy a dedicated sound card.

1 out of 5 eggsUnsure about this board

Pros: I like the looks of this board.

Cons: Super lag time with the on board video on boot up.. Screen goes black for about 5 to 7 seconds. The onboard network adapter is ok on down load, but is dead on up load. The speed was checked on 3 other computers on the same network all showing 65.3 down and 18.5 up. This board showed 61.2 down and .00 upload. The. cables were changed, but no difference. All settings were rechecked. Its dead. Keep loosing 2 of my 4 USB 3.0 drives. The mouse lags for about 10 seconds after the system is fully booted. I believe this board has some problems.

Other Thoughts: At first I though I had a bad install. So I wrote zeros to my drive and formatted and then reinstalled the entire works. I was hesitant to finish loading all my programs as I was frustrated at the performance of this board. I would take another one if I knew they could give me one that did just what they advertised.

1. Are you running a fresh new Windows installation or pre-existing?

2. The two USB 3.0 port that seen to be bad, do they work in Bios using an USB keyboard?

3 out of 5 eggsDecent.

Pros: Looks are amazing. Green and Black is absolutely gorgeous on the board. The quality of the PCB and components are TOP no better. Gigabyte is the best when it comes to that area. Bios is great too.

Cons: Killer LAN is GARBAGE!!!!! Seriously after using Intel LAN or even Realtek is an improvement over this thing. Also the sound pops and crackles randomly. Not too happy with that. Especially when the board is geared towards sound.

Other Thoughts: Good, But I have had better for cheaper. I am sure with a couple driver updates this will be an excellent board.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Green PC Is Complete

Pros: Very Green, if you're trying to make a green themed pc the sniper series is really your only choice, and I'm glad I bought this board.

Works excellent so far, I have a 4770k overclocked to 4ghz with 2x4GB of Mushkin DDR3@2400mhz (xmp profile was set to exact factory specifications on first try and booted no problem to 2400mhz). Paired with an EVGA 760 GTX ACX and it's been working flawlessly.

Cons: Very Stripped down board, but that is also why this is so much more affordable over the standard Sniper G1.

Not a fan of the skinny ATX layout, My acrylic case has the mounts fixed in the case and it lines up directly with the edge of the motherboard itself and I had to place tape on the metal points to make sure it didn't short anything.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for just a basic gaming rig and want to make it look pleasing to the eyes, this is the board for you. It may only have 6 SATA but they're all the Intel ones, no extra controller to worry about going wrong, and it doesn't have 4 PCI Express but for the price range you're probably not running 3/4-way SLI/X-Fire. It is a very simplified board, but as far as I'm concerned that's a good thing, if they could possible extend the board that 1/4" so we could have the 3 right sided atx screw locations I would consider this board perfect.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice motherboard, bought it with the i7-4770 cpu and 8 gig single stick Kingston hyper x DDR3. Hooked it all up and the initial fire up went great no issues, Default settings in the bios were fine, loaded windows 8.1 and the drivers and everything just worked. I have never been to impressed with the onboard video from builds in the past but this one seems pretty good, I'm hooked up to a Sony Bravia 42' TV via HDMI and it looks good. Loaded the apps for Pandora and Netfix , played some music for a while then fired up Netfix and watched 3 movies in a row , not one hickup or glitch, the board and cpu stayed cool and quiet

Cons: None so Far
