4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Expansive BIOS layout that is fairly easy to follow and full of options.
Relatively simple overclocking.
Onboard SoundBlaster audio.
PCI for backward compatability (in increasingly rare cases where PCI cards are being used).

Cons: The audio port labels initially created some confusion, but I was able to figure out the issues after some searching online.
Only a single USB 3.0 header.
System fan headers are in difficult to reach locations for top mounted fans.
The colors on this board are a bit interesting. Red heatsinks and power button, green capacitors, gold plated ports with standard silver metals alongside.

Other Thoughts: Purchase Date: 05/31/2015
I originally purchased this motherboard as part of a combo, inspired by the onboard SoundBlaster and PCI. I've also heard Gigabyte motherboards are excellent for overclocking in comparison to others. After having some time to play with this board, I eventually purchased a second for a friend and neither of us have had any significant issues thus far.

I currently have my i7 manually overclocked to 4.4GHz at 1.1V with this board and has been completely stable for everything I've needed to do with it (gaming, video encoding, video capturing, and sometimes combinations of all).

My Rig:
Case: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K
Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
MB: Gigabyte GA-G1.Sniper Z97
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600
Video: MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC 4GB
PSU: EVGA 220-GS-0550-V1 550W 80 Plus Gold
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB x2 in RAID 0
HDD: WD Black 1TB - WD1003FZEX
Optical: LG Blu-ray with DVD+-R

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Very good board. Tons of overclocking options and looks really cool to boot. Installed my I7 4790k and it clocked it to 4.4 ghz right away. It putr the voltage at 1.24, which seemed a little high, so I lowered it to 1.21 and it's stable and runs a bit cooler.

Cons: zip

5 out of 5 eggsG1.Sniper Z97

Pros: Very nice board... Looks good, runs FAST? And it DOES run memory faster than 1333? You do have to find the settings in the BIOS and change them.

Cons: The BIOS can be intimidating for a novice? This is NOT a good board for a novice builder, unless you have help who knows how to navigate the BIOS?
Running memory faster than 1333 is a chore, but once set, it works? I don't recommend installing the APPS from the install disk... Make changes in the BIOS only.

Other Thoughts: Running 16Gb (2x8) G-Skill Trident-X 2133, CAS9. Runs great? But, you have to be able to navigate the BIOS to turn on XMP, the set the memory speed and timing as manual. I'm running timings of 9-10-10-31-1T on XMP profile 2, but had to manually change the CMD from 2T to 1T. Auto settings are not great- Manually set works great!

5 out of 5 eggsworks perfectly

Pros: works great, looks great, beautifully laid out board, amazing sound, superb construction, UEFI bios is beautiful too and EASY to navigate

Cons: could have a few more plugs for fans

Other Thoughts: After reading all the reviews for this board what i notice is the "tech level" of all the negative reviews. 98% of the 1 egg reviews are from people with a supposedly "high" tech level. don't be swayed by these bottom feeders...what they do and i'm sure of it is go in and mess around with all different kinds of settings thinking they know what they're doing and in reality they don't know JACK! then when the mobo stops functioning properly they want to blame the board or Gigabyte or even Newegg when it was their own fault.
You know what i did? I read the manual! Amazing right? it even tells you in the manual "It is NOT recommended to alter the default settings to prevent instability or other unexpected results. Inadequately altering the settings may result in systems FAILURE to boot"
I have NEVER built my own rig before and did not go in like a "know it all" i read BOTH manuals from cover to cover PRIOR to installation and guess what? My mobo works boot nothing except a perfectly running computer. So don't be swayed by these "expert" computer technicians but instead listen to the manuals...don't mess around with BIOS (only change i made was to disable on-board intel graphics so my video card would work correctly)....connect only what is needed for operation and you will have a solid rig. With the pc off when i press the power button i can be ONLINE within 15 seconds!! Who needs an over priced SSD with that kind of speed!?! People who overclock to flex their e-p**n are the ones who screw the boards up....instead of altering settings just build a better system with a better cpu and more RAM.

My Build:

G1.Sniper Z97 MOBO
Intel Core i5 4690k cpu using stock heat sink with factory applied thermal paste...cpu only gets to 40C with all graphics set to HIGH playing most games and getting 50-60FPS (good enough for me!)

Gigabyte GEFORCE GTX 750ti video card
8GB corsair vengeance RAM
600W corsair semi-modular PSU
1TB WD Blue Hard Drive
Samsung DVD writer
Windows 8.1
Asus VX248 1080p monitor
Corsair 200r case

Can't wait to get some good speakers to unleash the beast Recon 3Di sound system. It sounds AMAZING through my Sony Elite Edition headphones.

Happy Building and don't go in like an "expert know it all" and this board will blow your socks off.

5 out of 5 eggsTrying gigabyte motherboard for the first time, works well

Pros: I've never bought a mid-high end motherboard before for my builds, I've always regretfully skimped on the mb, so this time I went with this to see what I've been missing. So far so good generally with a minor drawback. The reviews for this mb seemed a little mixed however many of the negative ones seemed to be due to user error rather then defects so I took a little chance, this was helped by a free kingston hyperx 8gb stick. A sidenote on that one of the reviews on here states that this board is not compatible with kingston hyperx, however mine booted right up at 1866 mhz without me touching anything, the model I am referencing is HX318C10F/8.

Came loaded with bios F6 which was nice not to have to go through flashing it. Everything worked properly on first boot up with nearly no effort except as noted below. Some people said this mb was somewhat difficult to build with, I've built a new comp about every 4 years for longer then I care to say, but I found the build very comparable in ease to my very minimalist micro atx i used last build, which was significantly easier then 8+years ago imho, so I would not worry about using this board if you are inexperienced. If you are able to read and follow directions there is no need to worry. The manual is helpful.

All of the audio worked well after drivers. My previous build used a Creative Sound Blaster Z 70SB150200000 5.1 , and the onboard sound with this board is very comparable to that. I mainly use headphones beyerdynamic 770pro, it does a respectable job with them, I don't feel the urge to seek another sound alternative unless it would be a move to something very high end.

Cons: "driver can't release to failure!!"

Be prepared to see that tacky message upon bootup if you install selected parts of the software that come with the mb. I've never used a gigabyte mb always had asus, so I wasn't sure which utility gave temps and fan controls etc. so I installed a few things that looked viable/interesting, oops. Very buggy, spammed this message at me when I loaded certain software form the suite. Also I got a BSOD after coming out of sleep mode about 24 hours after install/leaving comp on and I believe it was due to the software installed with the mb. After uninstalling almost all of it I've gamed for many hours and had it in sleep mode several times and I haven't had any error messages or signs of stability issues. I know such software is notoriously bad, but I haven't built a comp in a bit and I was curious if things had changed, no they haven't.

Other Thoughts: Red lighting is cool, so is debug led.

I was deterred from using a fractal R4 case for my build due to someone saying the board did not receive proper support from where the mb standoffs were placed, the antec p280 had standoffs in all of the boards spots. The padded shielding on the mb backplate made the mb itself a tight fit up against the case, but it eventually worked it's way in.

my build:
Kingston 8gb 1866mhz HX318C10F/8
Devil's Canyon i7 4790k
Noctua NH-U14S
Antec P280
Crucial M500 CT240M500 SSD
PowerColor TurboDuo AXR9 280X 3GBD5
Corsair HX1050 Gold PSU

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome board!

Pros: Amazing sound processor
Great red/black theme
Sweet BIOS menus

Cons: Not a big deal to me since most of my case fans are powered through my power supply, but the two fan headers in the bottom left corner of the board just seems very inconvenient for some builds as it's right above the power supply. I do power my side panel fan directly through the motherboard though, but with the middle fan header.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a ASUS P7P55D-E LX LGA 1156 and the difference is incredible. After I put my headphones on, it felt like new territory when I heard sounds from games and videos. When I first built my computer I went for value instead of looks and after looking at my red and black case with a side panel for so many years, a blue motherboard didn't seem so right. It's a minor detail, but it means a lot to me since I look at it almost every day.

Also coming from not having an HDMI port on my motherboard is a significant difference too.

I bought it with an i5-4690k and they have been best friends since I turned on my PC!

1 out of 5 eggsReceived Broken Frustrating

Pros: it has some neat lights on it

Cons: faulty audio ports which is hilarious because the audio features is what drew me to this card in the first place. No signal out of the center/sub or rl/rr ports. Frustrating because I spent 4 hours replacing my mobo and now I have to take it out, spend a week without my computer, and then reinstall EVERYTHING onto the new mobo after I get it back all because the audio ports on this card DO NOT WORK. seriously lame.

Other Thoughts: hopefully the replacement works.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Board

Pros: Looks awesome, 6GB transfer speed, Plenty of fan mounts, love the red LED where the board separates. Very easy to work with.

Cons: It's time to drop the PCI slots. Cmon.

Other Thoughts: If you are getting an after market heatsink, make sure you install all your RAM DIMMS first. I had to remove my Heatsink in order for the 2 other RAM DIMMS to fit. It all fits snug together, but might wanna put those in first lol. Also depending on the case and the heatsink you may want to install the mobo in your case first to make sure you have room to screw in the standoffs.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming mobo

Pros: Runs great, no issues updating bios, installation was easy, led backlight is a nice touch.

Cons: My only qualm is with the fan headers. They are all relatively close to the bottom of the mobo which leave this rear intake and the massive exhaust at the top of my antec 900 incapable of reaching the headers without extensions. I have already purchased a fan controller to remedy this. It will also be required because, for some reason, at least fan header number 3 doesn't seem to power my front intake fan. Just the led within it. Otherwise it seems to be a solid mobo. It is my first build and I can't say that i'm dissatisfied.

5 out of 5 eggsWish it came with support for 4 system fans

Pros: What comes on the motherboard is really nice since I don't need a screwdriver to turn it on outside of the box. Also, nice red lighting om a compact size for all of this (in my opinion).

Cons: Sometimes, the holes for the screws are somewhat off so installing the MB in the case needs some force to align them. Also, the labels were somewhat hard for me to read while installing it into my case.

Other Thoughts: I wish it came with heads for 4 system fans...
