1 out of 5 eggsPossible DOA

Pros: None.

Cons: 1.) As another review stated, I received an open-box motherboard. There was no seal on the box, which suggests this is either a refurbished board or someone else's return.
2.) Like many other reviews have stated, I installed every component before booting up for the first time, only to find the PC started power-cycling after about 10 seconds. No visual on the screen, no beeps. it just lights up, runs for about 10 seconds, then shuts off. A second later it turns back on, only to repeat the process. I have tried moving RAM around and resetting the CMOS battery, but to no avail. Very disappointed as I've never before received a defective board from Newegg. Will be contacting the manufacturer to get this board replaced.

Other Thoughts: At first I thought the reboot was due to my CPU overheating, so I applied a little extra thermal paste. This did not seem to help at all. I have no other complaints about the board, as I'm generally not picky about how it looks or how things are laid out. Everything seems to fit fine and there's plenty of airflow space. I just can't get the thing to boot.

2 out of 5 eggsDestroyed my system

Pros: Put it all together and it worked fine for 4 months.

Cons: I bought this motherboard along with a new gpu, cpu, and ram. One day I turned my computer off and it wouldn't turn on again. Brought it to get fixed and apparently it isn't worth fixing

5 out of 5 eggsIt works!

Pros: Even though my tech knowledge is average I'd say my motherboard knowledge is 0. I went over budget on my build so I was trying to save as much money as possible, and so I bought this in a bundle with the processor I wanted. I'm actually a little scared after realizing I never even read reviews or anything on it, I figured if my CPU fit and it could be overclocked, then I was fine. With that said I have no problems with this board. It was my first build, and clipping the I/O plate in was probably the hardest part. There is a bit of space back there, it isn't 100% flush, but otherwise fits in my case.

I don't really know what else I can say about it, I thankfully had none of the booting or BIOS issues that other people had.

Cons: A very very minor complaint.

I plugged all my drives in the horizontal facing sockets.

An SATA cable that comes with it has 1 plug straight and 1 plug L shaped. The L shaped side is oriented in the wrong direction and such can't be plugged in to the horizontal facing sockets so if you happen to want to use that plug there you are out of luck. I did want to, and already had an SATA cable with the L oriented in the other way, so I was all good.

I think the main HD is meant to be plugged in on the bottom vertical facing socket, but my GPU is covering that socket, however I think this is the normal/common placement of that socket so I'm not sure if this is a con or not. It also wouldn't be a problem if you had a single GPU in the first slot, but would come up again with SLI.

Other Thoughts: The red light is quite bright, might be a con for some people.

5 out of 5 eggsGigabyte

Pros: I've owned Gigabyte boards before and have always had good luck with them. Very stable board and has a very nice bios interface. Cool red LED lights the lower portion of board near the audio chip.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: The board is a bit narrow and the memory slot closest the CPU when loaded with a tall high performance memory module might interfere with the CPU cooler. So I installed a ZALMAN CNPS9500A-LED 92mm which fit perfectly and cools the CPU very well and is very quite on the lowest setting. On the highest setting the fan is a little loud.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, uncomplicated and great pricing.

Pros: Great pricing for an SLI board.

Great expandability and I like the amount of SATA ports on it.

Haven't played much with the BIOS, but when I was in it, it looked fine to me.

Cons: NA

1 out of 5 eggsTWO doa motherboards!

Pros: Ordered two. One works, so I guess when it works it works fine.

Cons: One of the motherboards I ordered was dead on arrival. I sent it in for RMA replacement. The replacement I got was dead on arrival also! Now, it says the product is out of the 30 day RMA period. Ummm....excuse me??? I JUST received this replacement a couple weeks ago and its DEAD.

Other Thoughts: Is this just bad luck? Or is this motherboard inherently garbage? It has "ultra durable" emblazoned in big yellow letters across the box. I have to laugh a bit at that. I dunno. Your mileage may vary. But my experience so far has definitely not inspired confidence in either this product OR newegg.

4 out of 5 eggsREAD This Review

Pros: Everything you could ask for for 120$

Cons: Had a tough time getting the mobo to boot and it would go in a continuous loop all day if i let it. But i knew even though after reading all the reviews about the same problem that it was just people who gave up and said it was doa, or not working properly. keep at it guys, more than likely its not the piece of equipment but your lack of knowledge, such as myself. This was my first build and i had to read forums and the instruction manuel for a solid day but in the end i mixed up the pci cable and the 8 pin cable that separates into 2x4. all i needed was to plug one side of that 4x2 cable (so just half of the cable) into the cpu power on the top of the board instead of the pci cable that i previously thought that was using all 8 of the slots. i hope this helps people figure everything out.

Other Thoughts: i have not gamed on it yet, i dont have a place to set up a desktop at my current residence atm, but all boots well with os and such. i hope this helps someone with the same repeatable rebooting problems.

3 out of 5 eggsSoild Board- unstable bios/firmware

Pros: Have had this thing for months now.

Hardware is SOLID. Everything *physically* works. It can do everything it claims to do and then some.

On board audio is as good as on board gets really. Drives quite a lot and all ports can be set as a line-in for recording or as a pass through. Have yet to have any problems period with the audio software- it's thin, quick, simple, and I strongly recommend it over using just stock drivers and windows base audio software. Is in no way a pain to use.

There is some more, but they're all "oh look at this nice pretty feature" type of thing. Just if it says it can do it on the box, it can do it.

Cons: The big problem this board has- THE BIOS- not the UI

Bad initial bios. Not the layout, but every restart, looping, and incompatibility problem everyone else says it has, has happened to me and is true. The main fix for any or all of these is resetting the bios via the on-board header back to factory. As you can see that's a complete pain to do every time, but at least it's a fix.

Like one of it's MANY problems is that if you disable your integrated GPU in favor of a dedicated card IT WILL NOT switch back if you remove the card. A full factory reset is required to get it back. Even used a Gigabyte GPU to :/

VGA compatibility is hit and miss- again, BIOS reset seems to fix this sometimes but just avoid it.

Expansion card compatibility is rather bad to. Have yet to find a single card, besides GPUs, that actually works with it 100%. Tried both PCIe and Legacy PCI port.

The list of BIOS related problems goes on. Needs a update.

Besides that, only possible thing I can think of is that the PCB seems a little thin. They say it's a good thing and prevents moisture build up, but I felt like I was going to break it when I was bolting the heat sink down. Not really a con more then a personal preference.

Other Thoughts: BIOS/firmware NEEEEEDS a serious update. It's not stable with its stock version or the latest version I've used. Please work on this Gigabyte PLEASE.

It doesn't have any artificial 3.0 lanes, but NO z97 100$-ish board does period. Give your hopes up if you want that for this price point. NOT a con- the most pcie 3.0 lanes this or any 100$ z97 can have is 16 or 2x8. However unlike some that use up the lanes for on-board stuff, Gigabyte gives you access to all of them for the best possible SLI/CF performance in the 100$ area.

Also *sadly* looking like no one will ever release a SATA Express drive outside of testing. More reason to use the included M.2 now instead of waiting for a SATA E drive (since it can only use one or the other). Was supper nice of Gigabyte to included both though- props to them on foresight.
