5 out of 5 eggschange my mind it deserves to win @ Newegg's Customer Choice Award.

Pros: great buy top product worth every penny recommended to all.I had issues with my last build but I can settle this was an awesome buy.

Cons: Overclocking has its days someone should post some steps.

Other Thoughts: what's with Windows 10 and power features. I think Windows 10 can break our motherboards.

4 out of 5 eggsKeeping this in perspective

Pros: Lots of features packed on this little guy. SATA Express, M.2, more than enough SATA ports, plenty of USB ports, SLI/Crossfire. Nice look and boots fast with a 4790K and an 850 EVO SSD

Cons: ~Had an issue recently with my USB ports. Got an error out of the blue that they weren't getting enough power causing everything hooked up via USB to stop working. Had to reset Cmos in order to fix it. Hopefully this turns out to be a one time issue.

~First time using a board with the Killer E2200 network chip. While it isn't bad, Intel is much better.

Other Thoughts: For what I paid for it, $90, this is a great board. If you want to spend $125+, I recommend looking elsewhere...especially if you plan to do any serious overclocking. Aside from my USB issue, I have no regrets with buying this board. I wanted a smaller build that would also leave me with the opportunity to run SLI in the future and this board, at the price i paid for it, is worthy.

1 out of 5 eggsMotherboard will not keep time

Pros: None

Cons: Contacted Mr. Lee with Gigabyte and was advised to replace CMOS battery and to no avail it did not fix issue. Updated to latest bios and problem was still not resolved. Mr. Lee advised me to send unit in for repair through RMA. I paid $20.00 to send unit in and 2 weeks later unit comes back with nothing done . Tech states ( No issues found in testing with multiple configurations ). I am not going to pay again to RMA unit. I am here to say that I will never purchase another Gigabyte product again and that my opinion of Gigabyte is poor. I wish I could give zero eggs.

Mr. Lee I know you will comment but I am done. After multiple times trying to work this out I am not doing this any longer.

Other Thoughts: Never again.

2 out of 5 eggsLooks are decieving

Pros: It ran and did almost what it was supposed to. I liked that it worked efficient and got the job (almost) done. Looked good with my custom build.

Cons: Came to me defective. It would not connect to the internet whatsoever. It would not even connect with a hard line via Ethernet. I tried wireless cards, adapters, you name it. This was junk and a waste of time. It would get better ratings if it had actually worked. The bios are also a down side but something you can deal with. It has three different setups and NONE work with each other. You pick one and stick with it.

1 out of 5 eggsTo much trouble than it is worth

Pros: I ordered this mother board for the Dual BIOS functionality, chipset and all the extras that came along with it. I have been buying Gigabyte motherboards for years and have never had an issue until this board.

Cons: My original motherboard received worked fine for a few weeks and then I would receive no POST during boot. I sent in the motherboard to Gigabytes RMA service and they "Stated" they repaired the problem on the motherboard and sent my original motherboard back to me. Everything was working fine for few months and now I am back to the same problem. No hardware or software changes had been made during that time to cause the same issue and all hardware tested prior to sending the motherboard back to Gigabyte. Now I am stuck with no PC, and going through Gigabytes RMA process all over again. The experience with Gigabytes poor customer service, twice now, has left a poor taste in my mouth and I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing another brand of motherboard.

2 out of 5 eggsHonestly, not that good, first gigabyte mobo, will be the last too

Pros: -Cheap z97, but that's where the pros end

Cons: -The BIOS are a mess, they have it setup in 3 different menus that don't even work with each other. You can change something on one bios menu, but another menu will say otherwise. Incredibly confusing.
-I have this board paired with a Pentium G3258, I bought RAM that was over 1333 for future use. The Pentium is only compatible up to 1333MHz, but the bios keeps defaulting it back to 1867, which is causing immediate blue screens, and corruption with windows. Every time this happens it stop POSTing and will only boot every third or fourth try. But this most recent time, it will not POST at all.
-Ran Prime95 for 2 days after the first time, thinking maybe it was the CPU and RAM, and unfortunately, everything is leading to the mobo being defective.

Other Thoughts: This was my first ever gigabyte board, and will be the last. And before the gigabyte customer service rep comes on here to make a ticket, no thank you, I don't want to fix this board, I don't want to replace it. I want to go with another brand that I have used in the past like MSI, or Asus.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat if you don't plan on overclocking. Or not running any sort of non-Windows OS.

Pros: Typical Gigabyte quality on the hardware end
The design is quite nice
Plenty of fan headers for such a small board

Cons: Fan controller is run solely by a utility in Windows; there is no controller in the BIOS
The CPU power delivery is a bit lackluster for overclocking
BIOS updates can be a nightmare

Other Thoughts: Built my system with this board earlier this year. It went together flawlessly, but as I began to explore the possibilities of overclocking my system, I found that the system could not hold it together at any voltage/clock past stock. Some googling around made it readily apparent that this board doesn't really have adequate power delivery for overclocking. So if you're like me and have a 4790k, don't plan on pushing it much past stock, you'll want a more robust board for that.

Secondly, I ended up updating the BIOS recently, and that went over badly; after the update, the board would no longer boot and I ended up having to remove ALL of the hardware connected to it, initiate a CMOS reset, hook everything back up, and finally the board came back to life. Not the funnest thing that's happened to me...

Lastly, one of the big, BIG drawbacks with this board: The fan controls are ALL in System Information Viewer...a Windows utility. They also don't stick on reboot; they're loaded when Windows reboots. This means that if you use any sort of alternate OS, like Linux or OS X (this board IS Hackintoshable), you're stuck with the default fan curves, which in my case are way too sensitive. Loading web pages in Chrome will cause the fans to max out for a few seconds and then come back down, and the only way to avoid this is to run Windows. No way to control the fans outside of Windows AT ALL.

In short, I wouldn't buy this board if I knew it was going to be this way. I will give it credit for being much better than the MSI boards I've used, but next time, I'm going Asus. I'd be much more okay with this board if there were a way to control the fans outside of Windows, but there is not.

5 out of 5 eggsFits nicely in the Air 240 High Airflow MicroATX

Pros: It installs nicely in the new Air 240 MicroATX case without any issues and it feels solid. I also have an ASUS board on my other computer and being familiar with the bios system, it was only a matter of time and exploring the new GUI bios of Gigabyte. Pressing F2 brought me 3 different bios screens, one being GIGABYTE UEFI DualBIOS, advance mode, and (I think) easy mode. I believe the DualBIOS mode allows you to recover from a main bios failure. See link:

I was glad to have the MB work out of the box with no issues and as with most new MB installs, I had to initially install the drivers with the disc that was provided otherwise the LAN port would not work properly or at all. I also OCd my i5-4790k to 3.7ghz with auto settings and had no issues with instability, I know I can go more and will increase it in the near future. I also installed the Samsung 850 EVO M.2 500GB - MZ-N5E500BW and it worked properly with no issues. It was my first M.2 and it felt awkward installing it at an angle then pressing it down to secure it with a screw. If you're going to use the M.2 to install the OS, I read online that it will be easier to only have that connected so the storage can be easily identified. I have 2x500GB and were identified as volume0 & volume1, I didn't want to guess so I shut it down and disconnected. Overall, I'm glad it worked right out of the box.

Cons: I would have liked that the LAN ports would work without using the install disc and the software application that comes with it. I'm afraid to uninstall it afterwards because it may not work but with windows 10, it may have find a driver for it? I prefer that Windows handles the ports without any bloatware.

5 out of 5 eggsSmooooth setup

Pros: Easy Install. multiple configurations, well laid out, high performance AND high value, sound set-up, m.2 and 6 Gbps sata, and most importantly...good looks!

Cons: Only been running a month, but so far so good.

Other Thoughts: Wanted an mATX configuration to build my son a box capable of handling Fallout 4 -

- Thermaltake SP550 PSU
- PNY GeForce GTX 960 DirectX 12 4GB;128-Bit
- i5 4590 CPU
- 2x8 Kingston HyperX FURY Blue 1866 DDR3
- Scythe SCSK-1100 Shuriken CPU cooler
- Thermaltake CORE V21 case
- WD 1 TB 7200 HD (I had to cut corners somewhere, since I just finished an Intel NUC w/a 500 GB SSD and a 256 GB m.2...but this will change after the holidays)
- Win 10 64 Bit

All I hear now is no lag! Which is music to my ears!
