2 out of 5 eggsWorked good for 3 months.

Pros: Worked good while it worked.

Cons: Broke after 3 months.

Other Thoughts: Sent in a RMA to gigabyte, will follow up if they fix it.

4 out of 5 eggsUSB 3 panel pins too delicate

Pros: Lots of features, good price.

Cons: Finishing the setup of my new PC, I just had one thing left to do: plug in the chassis front panel USB 3.0 cable. I centered it carefully over the pins, pushed it down gently but firmly... and met hard resistance. Pulled the connector back out and not one, but two pins were bent. I was able to get one of them to mostly stand back up, but the other snapped off, despite all of my delicate maneuvering.

I guess it's my fault, and maybe I could've been even more careful, but it's not like this was my first rodeo. Ultimately, having my front panel ports be 2.0 and not 3.0 is a minor inconvenience; too minor to justify tearing down the machine I just put together in order to send the mobo off for repair. C'est la vie.

2 out of 5 eggsdoa

Pros: none

Cons: dead

Other Thoughts: I wish that newegg would be able to work with me even though I am outside the window. I spent a couple hours putting it together and then running diagnostics. Be warned: make this your last purchase as even if you're just a couple days on the wrong side of the return period = you have to deal with gigabyte.

1 out of 5 eggsNot working

Pros: On board Wifi seems nice

Cons: The PCI express slot for the video card is not working, I've tried 3 different video cards and the results are the same, any load on the graphics results in stuttering crash and fails. It doesn't seem to be getting enough power. These cards do not require any additional power connectors and must be powered by the slot.

Other Thoughts: I've attempted to contact Gigabyte and requested an RMA, nothing yet.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Mini ITX

Pros: Easy to set up. BIOS is easy to navigate. WiFi performance is outstanding.

Cons: SATA ports too close to PCIe slot. Front panel pins not labeled on board, so I had to open the manual to find where to plug in the power switch and LED cables. Only 1 system fan port available.

Other Thoughts: There's not much to say except that This motherboard is pretty well made. One of the bad things, not about this board, but about the WiFi signal being strong is that my other devices on WiFi seem to get the bad end of the priority list and can't seem to use them on WiFi if my desktop is streaming or downloading a really large file. Also, plug in any SATA ports before putting in anything into the PCIe slot. I put it in the opposite order and it was so hard to plug into SATA ports 0 and 2. Other than that, I'm truly liking this motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsTrick little board

Pros: If you are not planning to overclock, this is one trick little mobo. The board layout is very smart, with most headers and connectors neatly placed at the edge of the board, outboard of the RAM modules (there are 4 SATA connectors inboard of the RAM slots and two outboard. All six SATA ports share the same controller so you can just use the outer two in a two-drive installation without any hassle). The 24-pin mobo connector, front panel headers, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 headers are also inline at the edge of the board. The 4-pin CPU header is at the very "top" edge of the board, and the audio connector is near the very "bottom" edge. This translates to a very efficient setup for cable management and routing, an important consideration when building ITX.

The onboard dual-band Wifi and dual ethernet seems to work a treat. I have had no problems thus far with connection dropouts as some people have mentioned. I have not tested Bluetooth.

The CPU slot is near the "top", with ample room for wide, low-profile coolers between the RAM slots and back panel connectors. This placement also keeps the CPU neatly away from the PCIE connector at the very "bottom" of the board. Really nicely thought layout on the whole.

I used the "classic" BIOS interface for setup, as it's simple and familiar to me. I have not used the UEFI interface at all yet, but will play with it going forward. My Rev. 1.0 board shipped with BIOS version F3 (Late August 2014).

Likewise, I have not played with any of the included Gigabyte software apps, but plan to in the future.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Perfect board for my new Mini ITX HTPC/Steambox build. Installation in a Coolermaster Elite 130 case was smooth and relatively painless.

4 out of 5 eggsSmall bluetooth problem, small board

Pros: It is tiny and has all the major components of the other boards. Plenty of USB 3.0.

Cons: Bluetooth adapter or card was a bit sporadic. Sometimes I had to uninstall and re-install the bluetooth driver to get it to work. As of the past week I have not had another problem though(I just jinxed it...)

Other Thoughts: My RAM will not go to the advertised speed. I assume it is RAM related problem, but it is possible the BIOS is a bit strange.

2 out of 5 eggsSome early troubles

Pros: see other

Cons: see other

Other Thoughts: The box was a bit damaged at the front edge when I got it (not the shipping box but the mobo box) so I was leery of the motherboard from the start. I had some difficulty attaching the front I/O as for whatever reason, my case front connectors and the motherboard pins did not align well and I had to twist the connectors all out of whack. Thankfully it worked the first time. The system fan header only seems to provide 5V and the pin layout in the manual is also out of whack compared to a normal layout. This has actually been a problem for Gigabyte for years, which I found out by digging up old threads on the interwebs. I just didn't use it period. The BIOS does not display properly on my TV which I use as a monitor (my old Asus mobo did not have this issue), and i had to lug out an old monitor to change BIOS settings. The CPU fan control did not work properly and only after a BIOS update did it properly spin down for silent operation.

My old hard drive, which I had no issue whatsoever until I plugged it into the mobo, started freezing the boot process and making the Gigabyte logo constantly restart. It is a secondary storage drive. No matter what order I tried, it would not boot. However, it has absolutely no trouble in my old rig. I backed up my files and formatted the drive, and at least now it would boot, but will appear and disappear intermittently, and freeze the windows logo for a good minute while it makes this sickening startup sound. It also intermittently gives SMART messages in windows, sometimes passing, sometimes failing. The drive was absolutely perfectly fine until I connected it to the gigabyte motherboard. I have removed it and replaced it with a new toshiba drive, but I am also leery as this drive also has a rather loud startup sound, but so far no failure messages or freezeups. It may be coincidence, but I keep getting an unsettling feeling this motherboard will eventually ruin anything attached to it.

4 out of 5 eggsQuestionable

Pros: Small form factor with enough Sata ports to store everything I want. This thing is a little powerhouse. I am using it as an HDTV/HTPC, and not for gaming. Easy to hook up with a small form factor case and mod power supply. Bluetooth was an added bonus for wireless.

Cons: Bluetooth - can we not figure this out yet? I do one windows update and guess what? Code 43: windows has shut down bluetooth. It worked great out of the box with W8.1, but be weary. As soon as you perform any type of update within windows, you lose your bluetooth ability. After spending hours on the web trying to find a fix or workaround, the bluetooth still won't work! I have put a tech support ticket in with gigabyte. So far we are sitting at 3 days without any hint of a response. We shall see what happens.

Other Thoughts: Would be a better product and get 5 starts if everything the software portion of the board kept up with the rest of the world. Everything I included in my build went together nicely. I would recommend to a friend if there was no need to use bluetooth devices with this product.
