Support for DDR4 XMP up to 3333MHz

DDR4 memory modules are available at a stock frequency of 2133MHz, but memory vendors encode XMP profiles which can automatically modify the frequency and timings of the supported memory modules to work in par with your CPU. With the X99 Champion Series, GIGABYTE is offering a tested and proven platform that ensures proper compatibility with profiles up to 3333MHz.

What is XMP?

The synchronization of the memory modules with the CPU is crucial for good performance of your system. DDR4 memory modules are available at a stock frequency of 2133MHz, but as frequency tweaking requires a considerable amount of effort and knowledge, memory vendors encode XMP profiles which can automatically modify the timings of the supported memory modules to work with your CPU and to achieve increased performance.

* XMP Profile support may vary depending on memory module. Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.

2 out of 5 eggsWhen it works, its excellent.

Pros: - Fast boots.
- Lots of USB 3.0 ports
- Spacious for your big cards.
- Antenna placeholder
- Clever SATA ports placement.
- M2

Cons: - FAILED after 6 months.
- Unreliable
- Cannot specify days on Wake Alarm
- Only one USB3 internal header.
- No FireWire
- No power button on the mainboard - good for testing.

Other Thoughts: We're using this as a business computer that needed enough power to void any lag possible - within budget - and it worked for 6 months. Returned from the weekend and system would not power up. Zero live symptoms, nothing. Now, I am left with who know how many days without a working tool. Lets see how Gigabyte responds.

2 out of 5 eggsSeems pretty nice if it wouldn't have been defective.

Pros: Actually worked for a few days. Strange, right?

Cons: This thing was messed up. Almost DOA. Defective board, had the rapid-beep power failure code pretty much every boot.
Totally stupid m.2 PCIe slot only allows up to 2x PCIe speed. Really corny, waste of an m.2 slot. May as well use SATA.

Other Thoughts: Went with the MSI X99 Krait after returning this one, and never looked back.

5 out of 5 eggsI got X99 Problems but a board ain't one

Pros: - Inexpensive, one of the least expensive for the features.
- Quad SLI/CF support with 40 lane CPUs
- dual m.2 connectors for wifi and SSD (see cons)
- TONS of I/O
- Lots of SATA connectors
- Awesome CPU overclocking, got my 5820k to 4.3 GHz on 1.15 vcore
- works with Linux Mint 17.3
- Great onboard audio

Cons: - m.2 connector is only 10 Gb/s
- only 4 RAM slots (I will only use 32 GB of memory anyway, if I need more I will upgrade to 16 GB sticks.)

Other Thoughts: This board is a great value and I didn't have any problems with the BIOS, but I updated just to be sure. overclocking was pretty easy but I cant get my memory past 2400. This might be the CPU or memory though, because the board is rated for 3333+. I love it so far, and the only problem I had was my case shorting it out, but I am getting a new case anyway.

1 out of 5 eggsThis is the worst motherboard ever made

Pros: Newegg return policy- the best ever

Cons: I had three of these boards. All Rma to Newegg. The first arrived with bent pins. The second wouldn-'t power up all the way. I followed the standard procedure and remember ved everthing off the board checked the memory and everthing else. Everything checked out fine.Still RMA the CPU, installed new one, still wouldn't power up, would start then quit then start again. RMA from Newegg. Last one wouldn't load the bios, actually, there wasn't any bios on the chip. All these problems are listed by other users. Gigabyte support, when I finally got it, was useless. Gigabyte will not admit they are having problems with board. They also started making them in China, a country with no work ethic and no quality control. Buy an Asrock Falatily a much better value and has the bells and whistles of the Asus ROG I had, at half the price and it works!!

Other Thoughts: No I would not recommend this

1 out of 5 eggs2 boards won't boot.

Pros: It doesn't cost a thing to get your money back.

Cons: Do not buy this motherboard!

I have had nothing but issues with this board. first board wouldn't boot long enough to flash to a new BIOS, resulting in both the main BIOS, and the backup BIOS becoming corrupt.

After I received my replacement motherboard it had bent CPU pins in the socket. After doing my best to straighten out the bent pins, that board had the same issue.

I'd start blaming my other hardware if it weren't for the fact that the ASUS board I bought works fine.

Pros: The motherboard looks good.

Cons: I have tried multiple configurations on the motherboard, and it will not post. I have tried replacing it, and updating the bios, and still unsuccessful. I am very disappointed in this product.

4 out of 5 eggsThis is a sweet point between price and features

Pros: RAM: 16GB of ram should be the bare minimum. This board supports up to 32GB of RAM. This is a very, very good thing with properly coded applications and games. More RAM, the better.

Most motherboards skimp on the LAN component. This one does not. You can get a full gigabit on this puppy. This is a HUGE pro in this day and age of multiple video streaming.

This board works fine with Windows 10 Home (Even though it’s not listed as supported)

I have found Gigabyte’s customer support responsive and helpful. This is a breath of fresh air compared to certain other motherboard makers ...

Cons: The interesting RAM layout (two slots on each side of the CPU), makes this motherboard … unique when it comes to liquid cooling options. This is something to look out for, as it is a very bad design.

3 of the USB3 ports are stuck at USB2 speeds. I understand this is a manufacture issue and not common at all. However, the other ports work fine, and I can live with it.

Unfortunately, they decided to majorly gimp the M.2 PCIe connector at half speed. This basically defeats one of the main selling points of M.2 (size & speed). If you are really set on purchasing this board, stick with SATA3 SSDs and old school HDs.

Other Thoughts: The only RAM issue I ran across this board is the timing. This board will not clock properly with some brands … This is not a con as this very common with the majority of the motherboards by Gigabyte.

Always, ALWAYS, download all the drivers and bios and firmware updates you need prior to building your machine. It really, really helps. As you build each piece, update it ASAP.

I recommend this board if you want something fairly simple to build with. No real surprises here.

2 out of 5 eggsBuggy Bios

Pros: Initial setup was easy. Fast booting. It does work if you don't need to tweak bios settings after windows is installed.(see Cons)

Cons: Bios is buggy. After getting W10 installed needed to access bios to check on some settings. Would not load bios just a black screen. Found(after a bit of digging) that it's an issue with the ntfs file system. Unplugged my HDD's and It loaded bios just fine. Seems to be a recurring problem with the x99 mobos. Also cannot get it to accept 32 gig of memory. Runs fine with 2 sticks of ram but refuses to accept 4.(sticks into a boot loop)

Other Thoughts: My setup
GIGABYTE GA-X99-UD3P mobo
i7 5820k
R9 270
Currently 16g HyperX 2133
Hopefully Gigabyte will release a bios update that will address these issues!

1 out of 5 eggsProblems Immediatly

Pros: -fast booting, seems to be good board in general

Cons: As soon as I booted up the board the first time it failed to boot. After the board failed to boot the first time I tried again and it booted however there were several other issues. the computer will not connect to the internet via Ethernet cable and all the USB ports on the motherboard do not work properly. I have tried to reinstall drivers and do everything else i could think of however it has not worked. I was expecting an easy install and a good product for my first gaming computer build but all i have gotten has been a headache.

this board came highly recommended but i am very disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsStill loading software but booted 1st time overall very good

Pros: Nice looking, booted up 1st time with 2 8GB sticks of Corsair Vengance Ram. Holds a Hyper212 cooler on an I7-5930. Installed Win7 suffered through updates, and placed it all in an Cougar MX500 case with a GTX960. Plug locations seemed easy to hook up to for all the peripherals including the FP cables. Board seems to run cool, have 4 fans in case and it is actually very quiet. BIOS seems well laid out and functional, still trying to figure out some of the settings, Gigabyte is slim on some of the descriptions.Overall though, I think this seems to be a good board for Haswell E.

Cons: The rebate thing was a bloody mess, but after 3 weeks of wrangling, Newegg caught up and fixed it. Also caught it at a weird time when price went from 169 to 194 and a few days later goes back to 169.

Other Thoughts: With all the X99 boards there seems to be some debates about both quality and reliability, even this one has negative comments about the Bios, but maybe I just got lucky.
