Support for DDR4 XMP up to 3333MHz

DDR4 memory modules are available at a stock frequency of 2133MHz, but memory vendors encode XMP profiles which can automatically modify the frequency and timings of the supported memory modules to work in par with your CPU. With the X99 Champion Series, GIGABYTE is offering a tested and proven platform that ensures proper compatibility with profiles up to 3333MHz.

What is XMP?

The synchronization of the memory modules with the CPU is crucial for good performance of your system. DDR4 memory modules are available at a stock frequency of 2133MHz, but as frequency tweaking requires a considerable amount of effort and knowledge, memory vendors encode XMP profiles which can automatically modify the timings of the supported memory modules to work with your CPU and to achieve increased performance.

* XMP Profile support may vary depending on memory module. Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Experience So Far

Pros: its yellow that's it..

Cons: -came with buggy bios.
-stared to randomly freeze a within a week
-Gigabyte Customer Service is a piece of THE WORST

Other Thoughts: I put together my new pc and it seemed that everything was running just fine. I was happy that i wasn't having issues like everyone else who has reviewed this Mobo. Then I made the biggest mistake and sent in my rebate. About a week after doing that the pc starts having random crashes. Not Even Blue screens just straight black. I then started to test every component. After a week of testing everything I came to the conclusion that it was a faulty Mobo. I tried to RMA with newegg but no luck since i had sent in the Rebate and there was no upc. I had to go dirrectly to Gigabyte then. At first the insulted me by saying that all the test I had done before were probably ran wrong then sent me directions on how to test the components. They were the exact same way I tested it initially. I finally got an RMA approval on the 4th and sent in my board on the 5th. They showed to have received the board on the 8th of the month. I waited to see an update on status on their site and nothing happened for two weeks, When I called they finally told me that the were gonna be testing it on the 22nd. That's a two whole weeks of it just sitting around. I called back on the 24th and they told me it was a defective item that they should be mailing a replacement in one to two days. I finally thought there was a light at the end of the tunnel. It is now the 29th a week later and no status update on the site so I call again. They first give me the run around by transferring to different departments and when I ask for help they keep telling me I called the wrong department call again to the right one. Although they were the ones transferring the call. I finally get some one who will look at the order and he tells me they are waiting for replacements for the dead mobo. So they don't know how long that will be and no update can be given.......... I'm beyond annoyed at this point and am willing to pay to upgrade to a higher model they do have. The Customer Service rep says they don't do such a thing and tells me I have to wait longer for the replacement followed by "have a good day" and hanging up........

TLDR; worst customer service ever, been a month of waiting with no results of defective product from manufacture.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN

2 out of 5 eggsCould have been great...

Pros: A lot of high-end hardware on this motherboard including quad-GPU capability, eight USB 3.0 ports, up to six drives in a RAID configuration, M.2 for both a drive and a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth add in card and headphones amplifier. All digital power design that utilizes International Rectifiers PowlRstage MOSFETs and 4th generation Digital PWM controllers. The board itself is built like a tank and has a very desirable look. One of most affordable X99 motherboards you can purchase.

Cons: The BIOS leave a lot to be desired. Simply put its a mess. The board occasional refuses to boot and instead sits in a boot loop before the bios even loads until i remove power from the PC and try to turn it on again. Occasionally the USB ports don't work on boot. Of course you don't know this till the computer is fully booted and the devices connected to them just seem to have dissipated from the computer. My keyboard and mouse are USB so i had to pull the power cord to correct that to.

Other Thoughts: When it works this is a great board with a lot of high-end features packed on it, but like with most affordable boards, certain compromises have to be made to keep it affordable. Most of the cost cutting measures are extras like built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and on-board On/Off and reset buttons. On the surface and on paper this is an absolute bargain for a X99 motherboard but once you actually get around to using it you realize that there was a lot more compromised than just a few features which become apparent with all of the software issues. Until there is a revision and Gigabyte can iron out the issues I can not recommend this as your next purchase.

2 out of 5 eggsJust don't do it.

Pros: Wish I had something to put.

Cons: Overclocking Nightmare
Windows constantly having issues since using.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this product. Look for something else. I have had issue after issue with the board. Take your money and buy a different brand. Gigabyte had a great graphics card I bought, but this board is nothing but trouble.

5 out of 5 eggsExtra pins extra perks

Pros: Fast shipping and awesome product. I knew that this board had extra cpu pins for stable overclocking outside of intel’s specs but I didn’t know that it had a switch that can you can choose whether you want your cpu to be running on those extra pins or not. Pretty cool feature for overclocking

Cons: only one of the M.2 slots can give you 10Gb/s transfer and the other is for a wifi card but it still gave me pretty good performance

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this board if you're willing to put a bit of tech knowledge to work. This board has a lot of great features and is capable of a lot of things that really impressed me for a sub $200 board.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Pretty glad I went with this board bought it last week when there was a $30 rebate off of it so I splurged a bit more on the CPU rather than just going with the standard 5830K. This worked out for me because I purchased 2 GTX 970's and this allowed me to SLI with both cards running at x16 PCIe Gen 3. One of the main reasons that pushed me to purchase this board is the Overclocking capabilites this board has a special socket that allows us to overclock this board to the next level. I've never overclocked before but with the special socket i was able to get up to 4.2 GHz (Stock 3.5 GHz) on a liquid cool setup.

Cons: System seems dull with just the yellow lights, not a big deal as I have 2 cards so I don't really have the chance to see it.

Other Thoughts: A must have for all enthusiasts if you are planning to build a new PC this is definitely the way to go. You won't regret it when you are installing the latest games, just installed COD and its smoothhh.

5 out of 5 eggsDual BIOS save my life

Pros: my system was crashed due to power outage and something happened also killed setting and thank this, this board got dual BIOS, my life saver. i will only buy gigabyte board in the future just for this feature.

Cons: it has saved my data, what else.

Other Thoughts: All the fancy features not mean anything if it doesnt survive and save my data.

5 out of 5 eggsNot an exciting board

Pros: It doesn’t come with USB3.1 but still has PS/2 ports

Cons: My system upgrade could not have gone more mediocre. There was nothing special about getting past POST, installing all the parts was boring at best, and I didn’t need to stuggle to reach any of the headers. The Q-Flash Plus flashed my bios to the newest BIOS, the Fast Boot boots up too fast, and the EasyTune only took one click to overclock my cpu. It all came together with very little excitement

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this board if you're looking for something that just works. It took less effort to set up than it did for me to get out of bed this morning.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware Gigabyte and their flaky warramties.

Pros: Seems like nice boards till something goes wrong.

Cons: 2.75 years into a 3 year warranty, my Gigabyte board malfunctioned and I filled out their warranty process on their website. Eventually I got an email saying my warranty had expired and there was no warranty. That was bogus. It was clear my Newegg order number shows I still had 4 months left. They refused to change their mind so I filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney general. Complaint number 854422. After 2 months of wasting time and stalling with the Ohio attorney general, I was finally emailed a Gigabyte RMA approval good for 30 days only. Problem is, my mom died and I was not at home any more to box up and mail my defective board. By the time I got back home from all the estate matters, the RMA had expired. Well, no sweat, there is still one week of warranty left, so I emailed for an RMA extention. That was 4 days ago, and its too bad email is as slow as snail mail now. Im going to send my defective Gigabyte board under that expired RMA number anyway. REF15B24043. After all, my warranty still has 3 days to go and my board needs service.

I am not very optimistic of the results because I didnt seem to get the "personalized service and analysis to help solve your issue ASAP", as Gigabyte promissed somebody else in this forum.

1 out of 5 eggsVery dissappointing for a "high end" board based on X99.

Pros: It has a lot of hardware features, number of pcie slots, audio, memory, etc, that look nice on a spec sheet.

Cons: BIOS is utter garbage. I have to agree with some of the other posts here. I have never owned a motherboard with such a terrible functioning bios. First I tried to update the bios by downloading the bios file from the website, then it puked with an error about not working in 64 bit windows. This is 2016, what bios file can't update via windows?????? Then I tried via using the app, @BIOS, and it picked up the f20 bios, that seemed to go ok until the reboot at which point it reset my settings including RAID, so my system could not boot but when I tried to access the bios it would just end up at a blank black screen. Luckily, I realized I downloaded a beta BIOS (f21) onto my hard drive and could access it via Q-flash. After using Q-flash and flashing the beta bios, I was finally able to gain access to the bios and reset the settings. Protip: Use the "End" key on your keyboard to get into Qflash, don't try getting to Qflash via BIOS (Del) key.

Another awesome issue I had was the awful memory slots. The memory clips don't properly hold the memory sticks in place so that when you move the case around the memory will come just loose enough to cause the motherboard to not post and end up in a power cycle loop. Re-seating the memory resolves the issue. I understand that manufacturers are trying to reduce returns by only using memory clips on one end but sometimes it just doesn't work right.

Update, it's been a couple of days now, and now every other power on, my system seems to run at a fraction of the speed. For instance my 5930K cpu is stuck at 800mhz at the moment until I restart. This is just ridiculous. Please Gigabyte, fix these issues!

Other Thoughts: I would never recommend this motherboard to anyone. This is the first time, I've owned a Gigabyte board but I've owned many other brands even the no-name brands. This is by far the worst experience. The only thing "Ultra Durable" was my frustration with this board.
