5 out of 5 eggsperfect for my itx system

Pros: good product. good price.
no need to buy wifi or bluetooth adapter. and since my router right beside my computer system, without connecting the antenna which comes with the package still have great wifi speed.

Cons: always need more usb connectors on rear panel. but considering its M-ITX form factor, I guess 4 usb connectors are best I can have .

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good mITX board

Pros: + Wireless card is small and positioned near the backplate, keeping it out of the way of the heatsink
+ Wireless antenna has a magnetic base, which lets you stick it to the side of a case
+ Wireless card has been working flawlessly
+ 6 SATA ports (however, one or two are unusable if you choose to use an M2 drive) - the 6x SATA ports was one of the main reasons I chose this board over another H170 mITX board
+ M.2 slot on the backside of the board (though, some HSF backplates may interfere with its use)
+ The area around the CPU doesn't interfere with HSF installation
+ Motherboard software is pretty good - the System Information Viewer in AppCenter allows setting of fan speeds, temperature monitoring, voltage monitoring, and other general stuff.
+EFI works fine and boots quickly with an SSD.

Cons: - SYSFan connector is not PWM (see the manual, speed control is not on the 4th pin).
- Only one system fan header (not really a big deal, considering it's an mITX board)
- Fan speed options are extremely limited in the BIOS.
- USB 3.0 header is right in the middle of the board, which is pretty annoying considering the stiffness of internal USB 3.0 cables and general cable routing
- Tautological manual (eg: The X setting turns on or off X) - but this is a general complaint about motherboard manuals. I wish they would include more information about what some cryptic settings do
- Enabling "Platform Power Management" in the BIOS resulted in random freezing within Windows (no blue screens) the first few days. Since disabling it, I have had no issues. I also replaced the PSU and saw the same issue.
- I wish AppCenter would fully minimize to the notifications area instead of being able to always see it in my Alt-Tab menu in Windows.

Other Thoughts: To get around the single system fan header issue, I had purchased a Silverstone 8-port PWM hub. It had the dual benefit of allowing me to just use the CPU-Fan header for fans I wanted using PWM.

Not sure if it's a pro or con, but the rear speaker output is really loud. I had to lower the levels to make sound usable (In Windows 10 --> Sound --> Playback Devices --> Properties --> Levels, lowered the "Front" level)

Build:
Corsair 250D
Gigabyte GA-H170N-WIFI
Intel i5-6500 (Skylake)
Cryorig C7

XFX R9 380X
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, Intel 520 120GB SSD, WD Blue 1TB, WD Green 500GB

1 out of 5 eggsNothing I can say so far, product is DOA

Pros: Well built and 6 sata ports

Cons: Was DOA
Box unsealed
Some weird sign of abrasion underneath the motherboard
CPU plastic protector half way remove
Really look like a return or refurbished board
Quality control missing on this one

Other Thoughts: Asked for a refund
Hopefully the second one will be new and work better
Will update review

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, so excellent!

Pros: + Does what it's supposed to do - it's been used heavily since 3/10/16, without glitches.
+ It was very easy to install and set up. It works very well in a Cooler Master Elite 130 case - just use zip-ties on your cables!

Cons: - Nothing significant to report here.
- A very minor "glitch" is that it often can't find a boot device when I exit from changing settings in BIOS -- easily corrected with a [Ctrl][Alt][Delete] reboot once the error is displayed. I seldom go into BIOS, these days.

Other Thoughts: I should qualify my review with the fact that I don't use all the motherboard's features. I have this machine sitting on my entertainment center hooked into my 40" TV and ethernet-cabled into my wifi hub for the faster, hiccup-free connection. So I haven't tested the Wifi features.

My build:

Gigabyte H170N-WIFI motherboard
i5-6500 Skylake CPU
EVGA GTX 960 04G-P4-3967-KR 4GB w/backplate
G Skill Ripjaws V series 16 GB DDR4 2133 RAM (Model F4-2133C15D-16GVR)
Samsung EVO 850 SATA III SSD
XFX XTR 550 power supply
LG internal DVD burner
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Monitor: Insignia 40" LCD TV, circa 2012.

This system was built 3/10/2016 and has now been running for hundreds of hours without a hitch, including multiple software installations, several Windows Updates and endless hours of of Youtube, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Unreal Tournament Pre-Alpha, and Command-and-Conquer Generals Zero Hour. Compared to my 4-year-old machine, this thing screams (but very quietly)!

4 out of 5 eggsGigabyte Mobo Dual NICS and M2 !

Pros: Dual NICS
M2
1151
Reliable
Price

Cons: Online BIOS and DRIVER update s available only for Windows OS . NO LINUX SUPPORT.
My ASROCK and BIOSTAR mobos allows direct online download for Linux builds.

Other Thoughts: In really like Gigabyte mobos, however, I would like Gigabyte to offer more direct download support for BIOS and DRIVER updates for LINUX builds without resorting to Windows OS for update. May I suggest Gigabyte look to ASROCK and BIOSTAR web sites to copy same format for BIOS update .

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Very feature-rich for its size. Dual gigabit LAN, dual HDMI, on board wifi. A little bit of forward thinking with the inclusion of M.2 and USB Type-C. Bluetooth will come in handy if I decide to pair a PS4 controller later on.

Making the base of the wifi antenna magnetic was a nice touch. You can just stick it to your case without needing to apply some sort of adhesive.

Cons: I was only able to use the two top-facing SATA ports on the board due to space constraints in my Node 304. The others face off to the side and are about a centimeter away from the power supply. Top-facing SATA ports would have been nicer.

Other Thoughts: Go with the Z170 variant of this board if you need overclocking.

Used this as the board for my new mini ITX gaming build and things have gone well so far.

M.2 SSD boots fine in Windows 10 with the BIOS that came shipped with the board. I'm a little hesitant to do any BIOS updates right now because the newer versions on Gigabyte's website are currently (as of 2016-02-17) listed as beta.

2 out of 5 eggsAvoid if possible - Too many issues trying to install

Pros: -I couldn't get this to run stable to notice any Pro's.

Cons: When installing WIN7, there is no USB support. Gigabyte has a tool (which didn't work) to add USB drivers to the Win7 image, but it failed. Also could not include LAN support. Without USB and LAN, there was no way to update the system drivers. Also, this came with a persistent CD/DVD-driver update needed (when installing from a USB.) Microsoft and Gigabyte both have recommendations, neither of which worked. There was a You-tube video that recomends removing the USB and putting in a different port mid-installation that enabled my to at least install windows, but it will not recognize USB storage devices (but will let you use a usb keyboard and mouse)

There was a video on

Other Thoughts: I would recommend avoiding this if you expect to use Win7. I cannot speak of win 8 or 10.

4 out of 5 eggsCould be better!

Pros: Wifi, Dual Lan, Realtek ALC1150, and m.2 (see below).

Cons: The four side sata ports are not reachable in my case (Node 304), not enough clearance between motherboard and psu. Updating the bios adds more support for m.2 devices like the Samsung 950 Pro (NVMe), I had a very slow boot due a conflict/issue list below.

Other Thoughts: The slow bootup (seeing a blinking dash upon bootup) turns out to be CSM vs Uefi setup, the 950 seems to perform better when using a GPT partition, instead of the MBR.

So, I used my Evo 850 to backup my Pro 950 (Samsung Data Migration software), then performed a secure erase on the 950 pro (Samsung Magician). After which I created a bootable usb drive, I had to get an ISO (Microsoft mediacreationtool), and with that ISO I could create a bootable drive (Rufus). I removed all other hard drives and the video card to insure no compatibility support would trigger by the motherboard. Rebooted into the bios screen, disabled CSM, saved the bios, only to return into bios again insure that CSM was still turned off. I then allowed the bootable drive to do its job, once Windows was reinstalled, the 950 pro now a GPT partition and with all the windows updates done I restarted the PC. It longer had the slow bootup. Once everything was in working order I erase my Evo 850 useless backup.

Between the difficult of installing this m.2 drive and placement of the sata cause the loss on one egg.

5 out of 5 eggsDyn-Oh-Mighty

Pros: Compact, hence the ITX label, loaded to the gills with features
Supports latest CPU and newly released memories

With just a little creativity all of the cables (albeit cramped in areas) fit nicely
without interrupting any of the build components functionality!

Cons: If I had a complaint it would be that the board was not well deigned for the case
I chose for the build. But, I can't blame the case or the motherboard makers for
any lacking in ingenuity!

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this case to anyone needing a compact build . . .including the
Intel i7-6700K (not to be used in overclocking, but what the customer demanded!
Cooler Master Case Elite-130 , Cooler Master PS 650W Modular
Gigabyte GA-H170N-WIFI MoBo
Intel i7-6700K 4.0 GHz Quad
CNPS2X, Zalman CPU Cooler, Ultra Low Profile (fit nicely under PSU with plenty of spare space)
G-Skill RipJaws V 16GB x 2 . . . .MemTestX86 for 23 hours without an error
SSD Samsung EVO 500GB (OS), HDD Seagate VX006 3TB 5900 (Data Storage)
Optical Pioneer BDR-2209
Crazy build in a super quality case, with an exceptionally happy customer in the end!
