3 out of 5 eggsWont enter uefi/bios

Pros: Great features for a low price

Cons: Won't enter BIOS/uefi. I got the mother board all connected, and when I hit delete on my keyboard, nothing happens. I have assumed from my internet searches that it is a problem with the keyboard, and that I should use a "ps2" keyboard instead of USB, but I would like it if someone could help me make sense of this problem.

Other Thoughts: I would give 5 eggs if the dang thing would turn on... Please help

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Skylake Intro Board

Pros: Simple board that has everything I need to get a budget Skylake gaming build.
USB 3.0 header for front usb case ports
4 SATA ports
Good documentation

Cons: The case fan header is located in a fairly bad spot for my build (to close to the board's center). This will require me to route the cable under my graphics card when I pick it up.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this board for anyone doing a budget Skylake build. I found the i3-6100 one day for $90 and needed a cheap board that had a USB 3.0 header, LGA 1151 socket, and case fan header, and at least 3 SATA ports. This fit the bill and was only $36 at the time.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard for the price!

Pros: Wasn't too hard to install, although the back panel did give me some trouble, but that's most likely my own fault, this was my first build.

Motherboard manual has the information you need to set everything up, very clear instructions.

Cons: Motherboard manual does not seem to have any info on error codes.
Had a bit of trouble with the back plate, but like I said, that's most likely my fault.

5 out of 5 eggs4 Long Beeps and 1 short Problem

Pros: so far so good (just got it working)

Cons: I had a problem getting the RAM seated (maybe its me)

Other Thoughts: Just wanted to comment on this problem that others were having. I was worried that this mobo was DOA like other folks here. Even had the same 4 long beeps 1 short problem. I ended up taking a flashlight and spotted that my RAM was seated improperly. I don't build machines often, but I can't remember having a harder time seating the RAM right. Maybe its just been awhile. Either way, if you're having problems, definitely check the RAM

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Brand!

Pros: No issues with install and boot. Easy install. Gigabyte is a reliable brand.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Read the specs. There is only an HDMI connector. No DVI. I planned to install a videocard anyway, so not an issue.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: nice price. great for noob pc builders.

Cons: it only had 2 fan connectors (1 cpu fan and 1 system fan), so one of the fans in my case isn't being used. but it's not a big deal.

3 out of 5 eggsDOA Updated - NOT DOA

Pros: Unfortunately none

Update - I decided to take 1 last shot at getting this to work before I shipped it out for rma and what do you know it worked.... Unfortunately I cant say for sure what fixed it because I went through hours of headaches trying different things with this mobo. So only pros would be that it was not doa.... My 3 star rating is based on the issues getting it to work

Cons: Would not post. Same issue as some others stated 4 long 1 short beep (not much info on the web I could find) with an infinite loop of restarting and repeating.

The cpu fan starts (not even a full rotation just a flicker) then stops and repeats that a couple times before it kicks on full blast. Then it goes through the beeps and shuts down and repeats from the start

Update - As stated in the pros I finally got this thing working but not without a ton of wasted time. This thing was a headache from start to end. Once I finally got it working it booted from a usb to install windows 7 with no issues. But once I got into windows only the keyboard and mouse would work through usb (front or rear). Wifi adapters and usb flash drive or hard drives would not work. I havent used or owned a cd drive in over 5 years now so I had no way to install drivers. I had to remove the boot drive and put it into another computer to copy over the usb drivers.

Other Thoughts: Pretty disappointed this is my first defective part in 10+ pc builds over the last 5 years or so. Also the first time I have to deal with rma. This was for my girlfriends parents after I talked them into building instead of a best buy computer. Not a good first impression to them going this route instead of a prebuilt store pc....

Newegg seems to be making good on the problem though with free return shipping label and no fees. Will have to wait until the process is complete to be sure though

Update - I typically use asrock or asus boards with 2 msi thrown in there out of close to 20 builds and never had as many issues as I did with this board. This is my first and most likely last gigabyte motherboard. If you get 4 long beeps and 1 short just keep trying to reseat and double check everything until it works ^^

5 out of 5 eggsBest budget board on the market.

Pros: 1. Great value for the price. Yes, if we're being honest, its not the best motherboard on the planet, but if you compare the cost versus the functionality of it, its probably the best board for this price range.
2. You have everything necessary to start a budget build.
3. Seamless install, no problems
4. Extremely smooth boot up, you dont even have to go into the bios to boot your OS from a removable media.
5. This board has a lot of slots for SATA. As someone who works in a labratory, this is basically the dream board because I can have multiple HDDs plugged in for all the data I pull in from our lab equipment. At the same time, I didnt have to buy some expensive motherboard.
6. Bios is regularly updated, and they are even working on a new beta bios currently. Great service from Gigabyte

Cons: 1. The only bad thing about this board is that it is not upgrade friendly. It only has 1 extra fan slot, so unless you have a fan hub installed in your case, you just get one extra fan plugged. This is perfectly fine for budget builds, but not so great for upgrading. Also it only has two ram slots. However, if youre looking to go farther than 16 gb of ram, you should not be considering a beginner budget build anymore.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend this to any aspiring pc builder looking to get their feet wet with their first build. Very beginner friendly. The fact that it is not upgrade friendly is not really much of a problem. I usually find that after their first beginner build, people usually want to start their next build from scratch and do it even better.

1 out of 5 eggsDead on Arrival.

Pros: None

Cons: Worked with this board for days as an experienced builder no matter what I did could not get into post even with everything disconnected. 4 long beeps, 1 short, then power down and going into an infinate loop. Looked online could not find any help there. Had to call for help from my electrical engineer friend and the only thing we could do is pronounce the board dead.
