5 out of 5 eggsBest Motherboard for AM2 Processors

Pros: Supports the latest AM2 6400+ processor. 6 SATA/300 connectors, 3 PCI connectors.

Cons: only 1 IDE port, which caused me to upgrade from IDE/133 harddrives to SATA/300 harddrives and glad I did!!

Other Thoughts: My most favorite motherboard. When I bought my first board in 4Q06, the current 6400+ processors were not out. This board continued supporting later processors and higher voltage memory chips, where many of my older boards would not support beyond the technology available when they were built. Only problem I have had is when I upgraded from a 4600+ to a 6400+ proc, I received an error "processor revision unknown, press F1" on boot up, but a bios upgrade 10-4-2007 from MSI's web site solved the issue. The BIOS is super easy, even setting up RAID. Though I do not over clock, the BIOS makes it easy for those who do. In fact I like this board so much I bought a second, purchased from NewEgg.com.

5 out of 5 eggsMSI Rocks!!

Pros: Very stable and fast! Good layout, great features and awesome performance! I have read reviews from people on here that had bad experiences w/MSI, but I have had nothing but the best from them. I once emailed and asked where I could purchase some items because I got an oem board and they sent them for FREE! No questions, just asked for my address! I will own nothing but MSI from now on.

Cons: Cpu temp is off, says my cpu is -21C, but Farenheit is fine so nbd.

Other Thoughts: There was no tweaking, no fussing and no wait, installed OS, my game and hopped onto a server and started playing!! As always Newegg was great!

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a beauty!!!

Pros: This MB is one of the best one I have seen. It is functional and very capable, so far is been running with no issues, no crashes or any delays.

Cons: Can't think of anyone right this second.

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Board

Pros: It's just like every other MSI Board I've used, installed easy and free of problems.

Cons: None yet. :)

Other Thoughts: Running a AMD 64 X2 2.5 GHz Brisbane on this baby, and everything is golden! I've had nothing but good experiences with MSI been using them all my life.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with 5000 BE

Pros: None, what I piece.

Cons: Would not post with an AMD 5000 Black edition. Bought an Asus to replace it.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy from MSI, unless you want headaches.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for the Buck!

Pros: Board has plenty of inputs and flexability.

Cons: None that I can think of except it would be nice to have a E-SATA output on the I/O.

Other Thoughts: I build computer quite frequently and have tried a few other makers. I just uninstalled my EVGA board of the same type and installed this one. I'm sorry I decided to switch to an EVGA board, but the price was right. Good tech support with EVGA, but too many small issues. I've always had good luck with MSI MB's and have been using them for at least 6-7 years. Always a good reliable product, but like any other make, you can get a bad one now and then. It's like anything else you buy.

2 out of 5 eggsNo Post Hang

Pros: Rated by AMD as one of the boards that will handle AMD's fastest AM2 Socket CPU. So, a 64x2 5000+ should be no problem.

Cons: Did not Post / boot. I stripped the system to the minimum and got DBracket Leds 2-3 (CPU Initializing). In frustration, I put the AM2 64x2 5000+ Black edition (Brisbane 65nm) in place of an older 64x2 5200 90nm in an ASUS M2N-SLI. It booted and ran Ubuntu in 64 bit mode. Putting the older 5200 into the MSI board enabled it to boot and it is now running Winxp 64 / Ubuntu 64bit. I'll leave the CPU's swapped.

Other Thoughts: I believe (hope?) that flashing the bios on the MSI board would fix this problem. Of course, you cannot do that if it will not even Post. I would NOT use 64x2 65nm Brisbane CPU in this board until the bios update is verified. I'm not going to do this. I've had enough fun with this board. The older 90nm part seems to be ok.

5 out of 5 eggsFull Featured Board

Pros: Full featured, lots of slots. 4 ram slots. I generally like the card. Seems to work with Ubuntu linux.

Cons: The back plate where the external connectors are could have had fewer sharp burrs on it. I'm still left wondering how I was suppose to mount the plate in a more elegant way. Also some of the external conectors take a slot position so there is a tradeoff of slots and connectors.

Other Thoughts: Does have some pretty big heat sinks. 2 of the slots are 16x pcie slots -- unless you have two video cards -- you may not benifit form the 2nd pcie 16x slot.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard

Pros: Good layout, came with all the extras and easy to install.

Cons: The front audio port is in the back of the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Nice motherboard and it DOES work without any problems with the nvidia 8800gt.

5 out of 5 eggsCooling

Pros: Looking to buy this board. Wanting to replace a bad Asus board.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: What Ive found that if u have a good case to cool everything then the Northbridge cooling problem should not be a issue. IE. Antec 900 case to push all the air that u need past the heat sinks lol. Just a thaught.
