4 out of 5 eggsStill a great board

Pros: Solid board once you figure out a couple of kinks
Many ports (serial, USB, PS2, AGP, AM2)
Great performance
Easy Installation

Cons: Noisy On-board audio (could be from PS)
Not an AM2+ socket
SATA 150

Other Thoughts: I have this board running in my media center via XBMC. It's been solid for years since I've built it. I thought I'd come and give my old review an update.

AMD X2 5400+
4GB GSkill RAM
250GB Boot
1TB Storage
CDR+DVDRW
SoundBlaster Live 5.1
NVidia 7600GS OC

Surprised to see it has 4GB of RAM? Yes, the board supports it without issue. (2x2GB). I run XP on this machine although Win 7 supports all the components fine. I can't get the Live5.1 to work under 7, the supported on board audio works but as I mentioned, it's noisy. Overall a great investment several years ago and still one today.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Decent if you plan to use without a newer AGP 1.5v 8x card.

Cons: MB is setup for a 1.5v slotted AGP card. However I could only get older dual slotted (1.5 & 3.3v) cards to work in the slot. I have an Powercolor HD3850 and it will boot up initially, but if you reboot/shutdown & restart - the MB will not post. Using 1.7 BIOS. Does not matter what setting you change. MSI would not troubleshoot and said to refer to their list of 12 cards for the ones that work.

Other Thoughts: Their support response time was very prompt. But their actual support service was very very poor. I mean they basically said if it is not on their support list then you are OOL. If you look on the list you will see 1.5v slotted AGP cards. What is the point in having standard specsifications anymore?

4 out of 5 eggsReturn Of The Penguin.....

Pros: The price and design. You can keep your AGP video card and step up to the dual core spectrum. You'll be covered if the board gives you any problems - you got it from Newegg!

Cons: Only one ide slot, the usb coding and haphazzard bios functionality.

Other Thoughts: All other aspects considered, this MB enabled me to build my first dual-core machine. Against a great deal of odds, I succeeded and that in itself makes me feel great. I read all the reviews first, then proceeded to build the board with only the bare requirements before loading my OS. This worked fine, then as I added each card (video, 1394, etc., etc.) I went back in and checked the bios and made necessary adjustments to the setting. The 'Halt On Errors' was the trickiest setting to over come and I'm still dealing with it when I forget to use my keyboard if the application ask me to load something from a disk. My system has an AMD 5600+ CPU, 500 GB SATA HDD, 2 GB DDR800 RAM with an Ati Radeon X1550 video card and a 1394 firewire card. It enables me to produce great DVDs.

5 out of 5 eggsA Great Budget Board !!!

Pros: It's a Solid little Board With a verry user friendly BIOS that has a lot of options for those that don't know too much. Super Easy to set up and everything worked right out of the box(Memeory, CPU etc...) Easy and forgiving to mount. There are also tons of AGP settings which pull a lot of preformance out of an AGP card

Cons: I would have to say one con would be that the heatsink mount kinda sucks it is a bit hard to mount it but once it's on it's solid.
only one IDE slot but thats not such a big deal cuz I would rather have a working system instead of a dead one and once I get the 2 SATA drives I want it won't matter.

Other Thoughts: I like the board, I got it cuz my system was dying and I needed something that ran a Dual-core and an AGP card cuz I didn't have money for a new Video card. The over view on newegg's site and Msi's site say that it runs an FX and the book it comes with say's on the cover "Designed for FX/X2 Processor's" Yet on MSI's Site it says the FX-62 won't work....But mine is doing just fine and it hase been on for about 3 days and I have been trying to stress it a little to see if anything is going to happen, Nothing so far. Also it list's on MSI's site the supported memory and my G.skill isn't there but it seems to be running that fine as-well. So 40 a $50 board I would say get it !

4 out of 5 eggsworked great...........

Pros: every thing went smoothly, fired up first time, installed a althlon x2 4000+ and it picked it up properly as well as the gig of xms i put in it, has onboard video, and everything worked great until u read the cons.

Cons: installed all drivers and everything was smooth as silk, almost too smooth if u know what i mean, when i put my ati x800 card in that was working 5 mins b4 i put it in this system, nothing happened. the board refused to post.ok so i tryed 6 other cards, and got the same results. after some inspection, i found out that the agp slot was missing a pin in the slot!!

Other Thoughts: i rma'ed this board the other one should be here soon, so ill repost with the updates.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Waste Your Money!

Pros: Low price

Cons: Ordered two separate boards and couldn't get either one to work in my new system. I've built countless other systems and this is the first time I've ever gotten 2 bad boards from the same manufacturer.

Other Thoughts: MSI tech support was useless. They did not answer my questions and were no help at all. I would not buy another product of theirs ever again.

1 out of 5 eggsRubbish

Pros: Mobo looked promising.

Cons: Until the mobo wouldn't power on. DOA. My Atx Msi KNeo8 mobo with a 3400+ failed and I ordered a 4000+ and this Msi as a replacement. Guess I am never going to order from MSI again! Had everything I ordered RMA'ed and returned, got a intel setup instead.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works perfectly with the AMD 6400 windsor and the Adata ddr2 800 I purchased with it. Surprisingly I didn't even need to upgrade the bios to install the cpu. It even works with the AGP sapphire raedon hd 3850. Overall installation of Windows XP64 went smooth and there was no real driver issues. It's a decent inexpensive board for anyone trying to salvage an agp card.

Cons: Only 1 ide port. Only 3 PCI slots and you can't really use one of the slots because it's too close to the fan on your video card in your agp slot. The board only supports 2 gigs of ram.

Other Thoughts: My p4 system that I was trying to squeeze another year out of died, so I got stuck with an agp raedon 3850. This motherboard provided a great inexpensive solution to my problem. Otherwise I would have just bought a new motherboard and gotten a pci express video card.

4 out of 5 eggsAMD since 8/30/2007

Pros: Easy to setup. I purchased it 8/30/2007 and it has run solid. Never any problems. This board is what it is. An inexpensive AMD board that will support a 5600+ cpu with a simple bios update. Only overclocks FSB approx 9 to 10 percent.

Cons: Would be better if it had 4 SATA ports and 4 PCI slots. But, you know the number of each when you purchase it. Memeory voltage is 2.0 max. Use kingston memeory.

Other Thoughts: This really is a good board and I would definitely purchase it again. I'm running a 4400 at 4800 mhz. BFG 7800GT video card. 2 gig HyperX kingston ram. Audigy gamer sound card.
