5 out of 5 eggsStill... WINNING!

Pros: Full size ATX for lots of room and supports SLI.
Plenty of room for expansion.
Fast bus.
Supports 8GB Ram.
Has worked flawlessly

Cons: A previous power supply fried about a year ago. At the time I was running a single high end graphics card.

Other Thoughts: Never used SLI. Northbridge fan died over a year ago.
Has accepted 3 different types of DDR2 800 ram: wintec, valueram and another I am unsure of.

AMD Athlon 4200+ Windsor
3 gigs wintec 6400 latency 5 ram
500Gb Hitachi Deskstar 7200RPM sata 3.0 HD

4 out of 5 eggsSmall Fan is dead

Pros: Lets me do what i wanted

Cons: I dont know if it's relevant or not, but I've had a Power Supply go out, in the computer i put this MB in...
and now after 2-4 years the Small FAN has died on it... The small silver MSI-labeled one thats attached to the board..

Other Thoughts: Wish i knew the Model # for the Small fan so i could replace it... but all it says is MSI , without tearin apart the whole comp.

3 out of 5 eggsok but beware of memory

Pros: overall has been pretty stable and allowed me to do what i wanted

Cons: although it says that it supports 800 ddr2 memory that is not entirely accurate, i was running 1g of kingstons hyperx perfectly and recently upgraded another 2g, system started crashing left and right, did everything you could think of, got on msi's web site and they stated that 800 ddr2 voltage could be too much for the board to handle so i had to move the timings on the 3gs of memory down to 667ddr2 speeds. The information when i bought this and in the manuals was misleading and did not state this or i probably wouldn't have bought the board when i did, would have looked for something better. It seems to handed 2gb memory at 800 speed but the board doesn't seem to be able to handle more at that speed.

Other Thoughts: it's nice to see that new egg now gives the right information about the pci 16x slots only running at 8x, when i bought this board the information only said that it had 2 16x capable slots for sli.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Been using this board for about 10 months. Runs very stable and cool after replacing stock chipset fan with a Zalman fanless heatsink. Has two IDE ports.

Cons: The stock chipset cooler is undersized and loud. The board is getting old in computer terms. The 8X PCIx slots didn't make any difference when the board came out. But it is limiting for anyone with a powerful video card today. It does not overclock well. I can't fit a dual slot video card in the first PCIx slot after upgrading to the larger heatsink on the chipset.

Other Thoughts: I gave it 4 eggs because it has been extremely stable, easy to install and was an excellent purchase when it first came out, but it is starting to show its age. If you are upgrading and need the IDE ports and don't have a powerful video card this is a good buy. Also it only supports up to the 6000+ 89W CPU.

1 out of 5 eggsworst tech support ever in an industry that sets the bar low

Pros: had, at least in theory, all the features needed for my particular application

Cons: system was crashing whenever i'd run something intensive, like a game (not all that intensive, the system i built with it blows the minimum and even recommended sys req's for the game in question out of the water), so i contacted their tech support. brokid inglesh and under-knowledgeable tech support staff are sadly par for the industry, but firing back a response so fast there's no conceivable way they could have read the actual complaint, and managing to prove with that response that they in fact didn't read it, with regard to each and every aspect of the complaint one by one, is just inexcusable. after wading through that mess for a while, they finally told me to RMA it, at my own expense for shipping, and when i did, they sent me a replacement that was COMPLETELY DOA. doesn't even make it to the start of post. i'v broken corners off boards and had them make it further before dying.

Other Thoughts: plus, the RMA process was so slow, now i can't return it for a refund, so the $$ i spent on it is a writeoff. i'l not be buying anything MSI ever again.
