5 out of 5 eggsREAD MB SPECS & YOUR P/S

Pros: Used these boards in new systems and upgrades. Not 1 failure needed RMA. READ THE MANUAL about your power supply. Look at the 12V lead max current.

Cons: Many using this board don't pay attention to the power ratings required for this board. Not the board's fault.

Other Thoughts: The power supply lead for the 12V lead in the board specs states 18A minimum!!!
Most power supplies are weak on this lead and often are 18A max. This leads to weird symptoms. Works fine then won't reboot past post. USB won't init in Vista on reboot causes BSOD.
NEWEGG lists the power supply lead specs for many power supplies. MORE WATTAGE WON'T MEAN ANYTHING IF THE EXTRA POWER IS ON THE WRONG LEADS!!! Most power supplies between 300W-600W spec 18A max on the 12V lead. Try looking at the Logisys PS575XBK for about $30.

4 out of 5 eggsAudio Problem

Pros: Runs smooth. Put an E6400 and an E8500 with no problems.

Cons: Kept showing unknown device in sound drivers. Audio did not work until I uninstalled old drivers rebooted and used driver from realteks website. After that audio icon in task bar.

Other Thoughts: Scored a 11,ooo on 3dmark06 with is this board, 1gig XMS2, E8500 @ stock speeds, 8800GS and a apevia 500w PS

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value, Great Product.

Pros: BIOS supported my Q6600 straight out of the box. Very fast POST. Didn't have to tinker with the settings.

Cons: Maybe a better back panel plate would be nice too (see below)...

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for a budget PC I built for my father. I've used MSI in the past and am still pleased by their products. Great website, good documentation and great value... I hope that some day mobo makers upgrade the back plate for the connectors. All they have to do is slap a color coded vinyl sticker over them instead of the plain old stamped aluminum. Lets raise the bar ** All mobo manufactures please take note ;-) ** Plus it would have been nice if they included the Parallel port connector, it's such a cheap part, why not include it?

1 out of 5 eggsjunk...

Pros: still trying to think of something.

Cons: when i got this board it took about 15 tries to make it all the way through windows setup without crashing. when i finally completed installation it would crash intermittently and would hard lock every time i tried to plug something into the USB ports. unfortunately, the packaging got thrown away before i realized the board was bad. so i cant get a refund.

Other Thoughts: mightve been a bad board, but i doubt it. make sure to read the reviews and weigh then thoroughly before buying this board...

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Bought this for my son, at Xmas. Been very solid. No issues, we assembled all his parts on Xmas Day and everything has been rock solid since.

Highly recommend MSI. I have bought many things from them. Rebates are always very prompt also. ; ) ; )

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsYou may need single sided DIMMs

Pros: It worked for 30 minutes.

Cons: It died after 30 minutes. You need all single sided DIMMs in case you want to install more than 2 modules of RAM.

Other Thoughts: Its my first motherboard which ever died on me. I RMA'd it & got a Gigabyte P35 motherboard which is working just fine.

Pros: decent specs for the price

Cons: it died after 1 month of operation. It stopped recognizing the HDD's and destroyed the boot sector on 2 separate HDDs i used in testing it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I was very surprised at the performance of this board. I did not expect it to work nearly as well as it does. Cables were very easy to route. I noticed people complaining about the IDE, but really... Who uses that anymore? Well I guess I do on this rig.

Cons: I had to move the Optical drive after installing because the ribbon would not reach from the bottom of the board to the top of the case. My fault anyway, I should have measured it out before just throwing drives in the case. The UDMA negotiation between the hard drive and the board- while not failed seems to not be working properly, leading to read/write errors on the drive (wont boot, figured it out trying to run a repair install), easy fix ran Samsungs utility to force negotiation as 100, no problem, did not even need the repair install. I actually think this is on Samsung's end, second hard drive of theirs I have had a problem with. The only real con I have is with the dual channel labeling. The dual channel slots are NOT right next to each other as the color scheme would imply. Nobody else has mentioned this, so maybe I am wrong, but the only way I could get it to recognize the 2GB of DDR2 G.Skill RAM as dual channel was to move one to another slot.

Other Thoughts: The board was bought so that I could build a second computer out of parts removed during an upgrade of my gaming rig. The setup is:

E6600, 2GB DDR2 800Mhz G.Skill, this board, 7300LE, 500GB hard drive, Samsung Optical drive. Not an impressive computer but all it is going to do is get online, maybe play some videos and play a round of solitaire. The computer is a gift for my Father.

1 out of 5 eggsConsider Newegg extended coverage!

Pros: It's red

Cons: I've had to RMA this product twice now. First one came DOA and second one wouldnt power processor fan. Am waiting on third board =(

Other Thoughts: You all should SERIOUSLY consider getting the extended warranty coverage from newegg. It's not that expensive and you will save money and time when this board DOES fail on you. You'll be glad you did!

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great motherboard as far as I can tell so far.

Cons: The board wouldn't post at first. Components got power, fans moved, but the computer didn't actually boot. I flashed the CMOS, reloaded BIOS defaults, and everything worked.

Other Thoughts: My case is built such that I can feed the floppy IDE cable behind the motherboard, so the connector placement at the bottom wasn't an issue for me.
