Flash the BIOS
- Pros: Not one hic-up. It runs perfectly smooth and I will be overclocking the memory and cpu soon.
- Cons: The bios flash could be confusing to someone that does not know commands. Although it does give you a complete list of commands, so it is definitely do-able.
- Other Thoughts: This board has been given bad reviews by KIDS that do not flash their bios when they by a new board and want it to just work. The fun in building your own computer is fixing any problems that arise. But if you did it right the first time you would not have any problems to fix. So the morale of the story is: FLASH THE BIOS!! on all new boards and save yourself the hastle of RMAing and the stress of complaining for a month.
Great board once it works
- Pros: Once this board could load past the BIOS, it SCREAMS.
- Cons: But, BIOS had to be flashed to use a Core 2 Quad processor. Pretty sorry. Not sure what someone who does not have access to another processor would do other than the be out of luck. This was very disappointing.
This board sucks!!!
- Pros: Can't say. board never worked.
- Cons: Am using a extreme quad core 2, 4 gigs of 1066 OCZ memory, dual MSI RX3870X2 video cards. The first board would nor accept any changes in bios and would hang durring instalation of Vista x64 and not accept two ATI video cards for CrossFire config. One card ok, not two. The parts are known good because they do work on a prior board. Sent it back to MSI and recived a used board in it's place. HUMMMM, a used board when I sent them a new one. Not good. Board arrives and now one video card works but not two.Swap video cards in diffrent slots, no change. still very sluggish in vista install, and hangs up. MSI tech support says that my power supply is malfunctioning even tho it works in my prior setup, have a 1000 watt P/s. So I buy a new one and no change. RMA'ed this board and still waiting for the replacement.
- Other Thoughts: I am now going into four weeks with a solution. I could understand if I were using another brand of video card but it was all MSI parts. And the fact that they replace a new board with a used one is a real deal breaker. I will never buy a MSI product again and will steer my friends clear as well. This is not to say that Newegg is the problem - they are the greatest and will still use them in the future Newegg ROCKS!!!
