4 out of 5 eggsBIOS issues 11-09

Pros: Great board, my third build with it. Intel chipset has better RAID1 support software than NVIDIA - by far.

6 USB on back, 4 more on headers, IDE, 6 SATA RAID1 or 0 via Intel ICH10R, 2 more on Jmicron chip.

Cons: Had problem I've seen described before on some boards:
after ANY BIOS change, must reset CMOS after one good boot. One awkward solution: install WinXP, go to MSI Live Update, get new BIOS in Windows mode, works. I got 3.4 dated 03092009. Board came with 3.1 dated 062008.

Doesn't like some memory. Had problems with G. Skill, went to Corsair, always works with them, but their prices swing a good deal.

No IEEE1394. No digital audio out - get the Platinum for that.

Other Thoughts: Didn't have that BIOS problem either of the two other times I used this board.

Win7 supports ICH10R in RAID1 mode (I bet R0 too) without floppy, without slipstream. Win7 also installed MSI VGA card, audio, network - everything on this board. Looks like I have to install Intel Matrix Storage Manager, though.

Pros: switch from a ip35pro and i have say i was not disappointed posted on first try PCI-E 2.0 is a big plus board layout was well thought out

Cons: didn't get it from the egg

Other Thoughts: to DOA i guess your still kinda new to this but this is a xfire only board and trying to run sli on this would explain why yours did not work.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Good specs, everything came with package, good manual

Cons: DOA

Other Thoughts: Just a side note, you might want to check where your case has it's PCI slots and where this mobo has it's slots, the graphics card I have (MSI TwinFrozr 275) would only fit in 1 due to the offset (just a note in case you want to use 2 graphics cards or have a peculiar case)

5 out of 5 eggsNice for the deal...

Pros: Bought it as an open box set up, and all the contents were there, flashed the bios to the newest set up, and overclocked away. Amazing board for the price that I paid for it. I have an e5200 hitting 3.8ghz stable at 1.31v and reaching temps no higher than 48C on full load for both cores.

Cons: The DDR2 slots are a bit close to the video card location, so if you run a large card (got a 4870hd) the locking clips touch it. Also not a huge fan of where the main Power port is located...kind of a bad spot in my personal opinion...so layout is a little off.

Other Thoughts: For the price/performance benefit board is awesome. Never really was an MSI fan, they were always unstable. But get the BIOS issue out of the way, and so far this board has been awesome. On top of that no board company offers longer than a 3 year warrenty...so in my question what is the point? This board is maybe 5 milliseconds slower than a lot of the higher end boards, and at almost half their price or better...there is no reason to spend more when you get this much for less.

4 out of 5 eggsGOOD

Pros: Decent board layout(pins for tower controls are kinda far). Good for OC'ing, got a E8500 to 3.8Ghz with an Xigmatek 120mm Rifle cooler.

Cons: First one I got was bad.

Other Thoughts: E8500 @ 3.8Ghz with Xigmatek 120mm Rifle cooler

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - decent board layout
- good BIOS options
- decent overclocking options
- CrossFire support
- passive chipset cooling
- 5 SYSFAN 3 pin jacks

Cons: - doesn't come with S/PDIF port
- MSI's BIOS flash utility doesn't work with 64-bit Windows :(
- MSI's Dual Core Cell board management software doesn't allow configuring the fan alarm RPM threshold, so it makes a nasty alarm beeping whenever Core Cell is running because my CPU fan is at 900 RPM - despite the fact that my CPU temp is perfectly fine! (finally, a good excuse to use Vista's per-app muting feature!)
- the manual is broad but shallow: it does a poor job of explaining BIOS options (but then again whose doesn't?) and especially the overclocking options

5 out of 5 eggsgood board

Pros: Got this open box. Its not Neo2-FR, its just Neo2 before anyone goes and manually installs wrong bios. Neo 2 current bios is 3.3, FR current bios is 1.1. Visiontek 4850 works great. 2gigs of pqi 667 ram work great (mb supports up to 16gb max)I totally need to upgrade my e2140@1.6ghz, but it is running at 3.0ghz with a bsel mod and this mobo.

Cons: After updating flash from 3.2 to 3.3 pc restarted but nothing came up on screen. Just held the power button to turn it off and waited a couple of seconds and turned it on= success. Had me worried though. Also the msi pc health utility is showing the 12 volt at 9.6/9.7 volt, and makes a loud siren noise. But inside bios it shows 12v @ 12.33v. Should i be worried? Everything is stable after running 3dmark03...

Other Thoughts: Upgraded mobo only. Vista was on hard drive and didnt need to reinstall it for transition. Was using asrock 4coredual sata.

2 out of 5 eggsNot good..

Pros: The board layout is nice.. That's about all, its black. and.. it works?

Cons: The worst board or one of them you can get for overclocking, It has a terrible choice of options for overclocking. It isn't stable at all even if you overclock by 100 mhz or more.. its just not a good board.. I'd stay away from it.

Other Thoughts: THe ASUS P5Delux, p45 board is the best one you could get for its price and overclocking if you want a good overclock I'd stick to that.
